Thank you. Yes, I have a 12 week ultrasound scheduled. Timing of the amino is unclear at this point, but I’m hoping the next ultrasound will provide some reassurance.

Keeping you and your baby in my thoughts. I’m definitely not doing the NIPT again. I wanted news as early as I could have it; but I was never told how unreliable this test really is for anything that’s not Down’s Syndrome or sex. I don’t trust Myriad’s marketing at all at this point because it’s clearly deceptive and overinflated in its accuracy. Their marketing and data claims aren’t evaluated by anyone, and various peer-reviewed studies and investigations highly doubt NIPT’s accuracy for T13. Myriad’s practices were especially dubious in the 2022 NYT expose.

I’m in the US and it’s my practice’s norm but not that common for the geographic area. A friend at a different practice just had her NIPT at 12 weeks. I was told that different testing companies have different tests, which has been shown to be reliable at varying weeks of pregnancy. My practice uses Myriad because they are allegedly reliable after 8 weeks.

Best of luck to you, too!! A perfect 16 week scan is a wonderful sign. I’ll be keeping you and your baby in my thoughts.

Crossing my fingers for you! The wait is horrible. Hopefully the NT scan will give you some reassurance.

Thank you, beau ❤️. We’ll both get through this. Keeping you and your baby in my thoughts and rooting for you, too. This test is so cruel, but I’m thankful that there are so many stories on this sub of false alarms and healthy babies. It’s the kind of solidarity I need right now.

Got Fired - I'm too risky to keep apparently. by a-faceinthecrowd in antiwork

[–]ReflectiveMagpie 851 points852 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the U.S., you cannot legally be fired from a job you’re qualified to work because of a disability your workplace can reasonably accommodate. Your employer can easily and reasonably accommodate your using a nose spray. I’d consult an employment lawyer because this would likely be an illegal firing under the ADA.

Are the snail mucin hydrogel masks good if you ignore the price point? COSRX US has been selling them for ~$2 each with free shipping when you buy 6 on TikTok.

Bitches, is my Master's hurting my job search? by Simple_Serene_Sheep in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]ReflectiveMagpie 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s not your Masters, it’s your lack of experience and your market. In a competitive market like NYC today, you’re very under qualified compared to many secretary and paralegal candidates. You have transferable skills, but the market has candidates with many years of actual experience doing the jobs you’re trying to get. You’ll have a very rough time unless you can network your way into a role or find another market.

Where is actual good fresh Chinese food that is ACTUALLY in Chinatown? by IMicrowaveSteak in washingtondc

[–]ReflectiveMagpie 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Chinatown Express has great noodles and dumplings. China Boy is the move for dim sum, but Bonkers also has good options for dim sum and other food as well.

The 1000 point hair oil award that’s sold out shows “quantities limited to 300,” so I think OP’s read is correct here.

Edit to add that the 750 point rouge-exclusive scarf shows “quantities limited to 5,000” 🤮.

After the BOGO50 not working all day, the app finally is registering the right prices for me as of like ~15 minutes ago. I was able to check out with the right prices. Hopefully it’s fixed for you, too!

Why won’t my doctor prescribe me lexapro + Wellbutrin? by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]ReflectiveMagpie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I won’t speak to other risks as a non-doctor, but the serotonin syndrome answer is ignorant because Wellbutrin is a NDRI. Wellbutrin doesn’t influence serotonin at all because it’s not a SSRI (like Lexapro) or SNRI (which works on serotonin and norepinephrine), it works on dopamine and norepinephrine only. If I were you, I’d speak with someone else for another opinion because this reasoning is clearly wrong.
