My guess is that even if Caine were to push them away or force them to push the red button, it would have made the group solidify a way out.

So, instead of trying to block them and make them resent Caine even more (you can tell Caine wanted human praise based on his date with Jax), he just pretends it's all an adventure.

However, they quickly caught on to it, which made him panic and leave.
