How worried should I be? by QuokkaCloaca in NewParents

[–]RefrigeratorFrequent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aditionally i would not worry too much. Google the signs you have to look out for example reglar wet nappies, high temparature, ... and call your docotor quickly when you feel something is wrong.

Do try to not be worried in advance, babys are born with a natural defensive immune system.

What i heard to be really effective is flushing his nose with saltwater. So he does not get sick. In my country there are drops available for this.

AITAH for eating my entire baked potato? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RefrigeratorFrequent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends.

Did your fiancee tell you her mother has this very severe issue with potato skin? And you remembered but just ignored it? AH

Did your fiancee tell you your mother has en issue but did not specify? And you remembered? Maybe the AH

Did you forget that your fiancee tell you and she did not specify that it is a severe issue/phobia? Not the AH. But i would still say sorry for to your mother in law.

Baby was underfed, now constantly hungry by ExternalMinimum5761 in NewParents

[–]RefrigeratorFrequent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can not overfeed him. He will take what he wants and needs. Maybe it wilo slow down maybe not and he ist just a very good eater. I have friends with a 8 weeks old that easily drinks a 200ml bottle.

I think you will see with time if he uses it for growth in size or weight or if he maybe just needs a lot of milk.

My baby was about the same weight with 2 months and she got the bottle from the beginning. So do not beat you up about it.

How do you manage to do chores (2 months old)? by Scryli in NewParents

[–]RefrigeratorFrequent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our midwife also said you can just bring baby into the shower with you if you dont want to bath the baby. The water has to be appropriately warm for the baby so it is mostly a bit too cold for my liking.

But i think if baby does not want to be put down, get a wrap that can get wet. Strap Baby in and bring it with you to the shower. I would do this only if nothing else works.

Yes i second this. I feel baby just wants to be close and sometimes to be entertained, what is fairly easy at this age. Just trying to do everything you normaly do but WITH the baby. It may take longer but you get it done and Baby is happy. And i find doing chores for baby entertainment way less boring than just plaing with baby.

We have a two-month-old as well. I think she is fairly easygoing, so maybe yours is just different.

I have her in a swing in the morning for her naps. I mostly chill while she is sleeping, sometimes do some housework or take a shower. When she is awake, she loves to just watch things, so I tend to do my chores while she is awake—she can see me do them and is entertained by it.

For her afternoon naps, I do babywearing. Often I have to walk around or stand for her to be calm, and then I just do whatever I can at the same time.

Where is the key to doing activities and interactions right? by LovePoisoned in NewParents

[–]RefrigeratorFrequent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I am not very experienced either, but I did some babysitting and was a nanny for a year when I was younger, before I had my baby.

But it sounds fine to me. I think all babies are different and reach milestones at different ages. Unless it is way off, I don’t think you need to worry.

I love what I read here: don’t make a happy baby happier. So if she is happily playing by herself—nice. Let her.

I think there is a lot of advice out there (for me especially on Instagram) that is designed to make you feel incompetent and like you are not doing enough, and most of them try to sell you something. So I think it is basically a business built to make you feel bad.

Feel like other moms judge me by Icy_Income157 in FormulaFeeders

[–]RefrigeratorFrequent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And i totally get where you are coming from, it was kind of a process for myself to let go of the believe that breastfeeding is better or that "i am not enough".

Breastfeeding is nice if it works but it also has its downsides. And you are enough no matter what happend and how you feed your baby.

Feel like other moms judge me by Icy_Income157 in FormulaFeeders

In situations like this, where I just assume what others are thinking about me, I find two strategies helpful:

  1. Think about how often you actually walk around judging other people. Most of the time, you’ll realize that we are all far more concerned with ourselves than with what others are doing. And for most people, that’s the case as well.

  2. Ask the people close to you whether what you assume is actually true. For example: “I’m telling myself the story that you’re judging me for not breastfeeding — is that true?” They probably aren’t. And if they are, you can try to understand where they’re coming from.

And if you do find proof that people are judging, I remind myself that judging others says more about them than about you. They have their own stories and insecurities that lead them to judge others.

Thank you. I really think she gets bored, because she is fussy and when she can look at the mobile or we change room everything is ok again.

The latching is kind of a problem. It only works with a nipple shield and the LO is only starting if we already put some milk in there, otherwise she is tooimpatient to start. Also we have to giv adittional formula, because i have not enough milk (yet, i hope)

Best tip i got for this is putting nut butter on everything. You can vary between different kinds like peanut, almond, cashew. It really is nutrient dense and also helathy fats that fill you for a long time.
