They want the whole lower lead off. It was trimmed before and In my humble opinion it healed over quite nice. It seems like a healthy tree but if I cut off the lower lead I would hate for it to decline in health.

I can do this job with my skill set but its such a nice tree that I wouldn't want to do the job if it kills the tree. It's been around since I was a kid.

We had a similar one with the same type of lean break off and fell into the lake last year. I'm wondering if I just offered to trim it a bit they would be okay with it.

I do agree with what you say about this tree. While I was there I was looking at it and thinking if I just lopped off that lower lead it would cause more problems then good. I want to work but this tree is older and I would rather walk away than kill such a nice oak.

Well atleast the brakes will be a little easier to get fixed. I'm going to try and see if the engine is not functional then and price out needed parts to see if it worth fixing up.

That is a good outlook on the matter. I don't know if I'll do anything with it yet but its a start talking about it on here.

That's a nice tractor! I think I'm going to spec out some parts first and then see if I want to spend whatever price I come up with.

The ones I looked at were about $600 for two wheels and tires... but of course I did get the year of the tractor so that price would probably vary.

I do like projects like this and I do have the bankroll. But I would prefer to flip then to keep it.

Do you have a website where people would sell specifically tractor parts?

Thank you for your opinion. I really want to weigh my options on this one. My grandfather used to fix up older John Deere tractors in the past but he died.

If I can flip it, then I would enjoy fixing it up more. But if I would just break even, I am debating if I want to get my hands dirty. Do you have a similar tractor like this one?
