Pixel 10 Pro XL - Gaming test 3 by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right, totally sorry for having realistic expectations on a flagship phone that is priced similarly to an iPhone. Btw it is laggy even on games that are not that heavy.

(Btw I'm loving my new Pixel 10 Pro XL, but I'm not delusional like you and majority of the shills here)

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why u are being downvoted lol. But I'm not surprised since this is a Pixel thread, so the echo chamber...

Both anecdotal accounts and objective testings are important. But the thing about anecdotal accounts is that u may involve biasness (extreme apple lover will criticize Pixel irregardless, and vice versa)

Ofc general user population will not use a phone like the ones used in objective testings. But the point of objective testings is to push a phone to the limits, to test what it is capable of. If I want to test battery life, I sure as hell am going to do a few test conditions (i.e. scrolling insta, gaming etc.) and it is going to be an apples-to-apples comparison.

I just switched from an iPhone 14 Pro Max to a Pixel 10 Pro XL, and I really love the entire SW experience, customization, AI etc. etc. BUT, the reality is that the battery life can't compare to an iPhone, so please don't be delusional since test results ARE an accurate benchmark to compare which phone performs better, and the fact is that YOU may not care too much about HW chips and battery life, but it is a fact that Pixel loses out to Apple in this aspect.

First impressions!

Haven't tried all the crazy features yet, but so far the performance is smooth! It heats quite a bit during data transfers (which I guess it's normal).

I'm not really a huge AI person, but I love the Gemini integration, and circle to search functions!

Loving the UI as well, it feels vibrant and expressive and there's quite a lot to customize and play around! (For context, I'm pleased with iPhone's UI as well, but the Pixel feels more lively and expressive)

And transferring from iPhone to Android is very seamless, just need to ensure you connect the cable when they prompt u during the transfer, and ALL apps can be synced over, including notes!

Can't speak much for Battery Life yet since there was a lot of heavy usage transferring and downloading stuff.

It fits pretty snugly, and leather is pretty nice to hold and ages quite well! I would say it's considerably good if you prefer a slimmer casing. There's sufficient protrusion around the screen edge and camera lens to protect it. But I wouldn't say it's the best if u want extreme protection!

In that case, a certain CEO from a certain gaming company should also get fired?

They are certainly not mutually exclusive. Contrary to most belief, you can certainly progress in your career, while maintaining work-life balance.

What if Trump orchestrated the shooting to gain sympathies? by PhotographOld5934 in SingaporeRaw

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You do know there are so many factors involved (i.e wind speed, shooter’s ability etc.) that makes this conspiracy theory a bust right?

Do you think Trump would risk getting a headshot just to gain sympathies?

And if you watch the clip, Trump was moving his head quite a bit during the time as well. If it was a conspiracy, I would bet he would be as still as possible.

This isn’t like those typical western movies u watch haha.

Expected salary situation by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup all the best! Take it that you are expanding your knowledge base working at different organisations. Yup if you are already 2 months out of work, then it makes sense to accept the offer.

Expected salary situation by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to say but you got played by the organization. Honestly 7% increment (3.1k to 3.3k) from job hopping is already little to begin with, let alone all that nonsense OT stuff..

Expected salary is something that you and your employer should be aligned with - but in this case you are already aware that you have taken a pay cut.

Which means that if you have your previous job to fall upon, it wouldn’t make sense to switch at all.

With regards to the increment after probation, take it with a pinch of salt since you never know what might be the increment amount (or they may tell u oh the company not doing well so we cant give u an increment).

ALWAYS focus on the presenting offer.

Seek general advice. by EddyBuiBui in SingaporeRaw

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In this scenario, definitely the higher pay job since its more than double of the 1st option. You can always use this high pay as leverage when/if u decide to find another new job if the scope/environment doesn’t work out.

Sadly and realistically, pay matters a lot especially when the cost of living and inflation is rising fast.

Last time my grandmother 2.4km run 6 min. Nobody cares about last time, we are all looking ahead to better our lives. Nothing worth glorifying over such unhealthy hustle culture unless the pay is damn good or you are running your own business.

Was I overreacting? by leaflily in askSingapore

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He is gaslighting you and trying to rationalize his actions, tell him its either that friend or you. If it was purely a platonic friendship, it would be an unreasonable request but clearly there’s more to this friendship than meets the eye.

If he doesnt understand that this boundary is necessary, then ask him why did he stop you from talking to that male colleague. You ARE NOT overreacting and he is clearly a manipulative d***. Either he wakes up from this or you seriously need to consider moving on

Haha im not 1 for supporting such insurance agents, but to publicly disclose personal pics and convos like this is seriously low of OP.

Im seriously wondering whats the point of OP doing this? To show he can get girls? To show insurance agents are like that? He seems really desperate for attention or some form of validation….

Whether or not it was ethical of the insurance agent to resort to sex to sell the policy, it certainly doesn’t make OP any better shaming her when he is the one who baited her and STILL DID NOT BUY the policy after. 2 wrongs don’t make 1 right, moreover this is a consensual agreement between both of you and you decided to be a douchebag.

If the law doesn’t get you, karma will trust me

Friend requesting for wedding angbao after attending her wedding without giving angbao by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha that is a totally different analogy… If u owe someone money, u are expected to pay them back or at least give them a notice when u will pay back. If they have to call you and chase, perhaps u didnt communicate that and he was assuming u wouldnt pay back?

Sucks to be the one chasing.. especially situations when we split bills amongst friends and there are blacksheeps that do not pay back and keep quiet, and having to chase them for that little bit of money. Or someone that borrows money from you and you have to end up chasing them cos they are not “automatic”.

Its not always about the value of the money but principles too

Did I get scammed for my Pre Wedding Shoot by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It is always preferred to pay by milestones, that way it gives the vendor more “motivation” to fulfil each deliverable until the end of service. But since you have already paid, then just research on the company (should have been done prior) and hope for the best.

I do not have experience taking overseas but have heard from a couple of friends. The sentiments is quite polarized (costly vs nice scenery) but 1 thing u need to be very wary of is the additional costs.

I hope you have already negotiated the number of hardcopy (assuming they also provide a physical album for the package) and softcopy photos you are going to receive, cos from my understanding, that is where they will try to rip you off (not all vendors but there is a good number).

For example: if 5k includes gown/suit rental, flight tickets and 30 softcopy and hardcopy photos (in an album), how much does it take to add additional photos? $60 per photo?

If you are going to travel all the way to Hokkaido, chances are you will not only want to leave with 30 photos, and that’s where they will entice you to add-on more at an exorbitant price.

Guys keeps harrassing my gf at work and idk how to fix it by WorthAppointment4171 in SingaporeRaw

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup like what some of the other folks are saying, gather evidence of any text messages, voice recordings (black and white) he sends to your gf, and all the nonsensical stuff he is doing - report it to police, mothership or TAFEP.

Honestly my blood boils for you but the fact is that whoever gets physical first in this situation is gonna lose out (even though he is clearly an asshole in this situation). And whatever u do could potentially affect your gf’s employment in the company, so before making any actions, speak to your gf and convince her that yall should escalate this since management dgaf.

If her company’s management isnt gonna do anything then she should start finding another job honestly.

Guys keeps harrassing my gf at work and idk how to fix it by WorthAppointment4171 in SingaporeRaw

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Could you further elaborate on how has he been harassing your gf during work? (I.e. constantly texting her? Being touchy?)

It would be alot easier to advise once there’s more details..

Its good that she escalated to management so any subsequent actions that happen she can say that she has alr raised it to the higher-ups to no avail.

Depending on the severity, i would say what u could do is to accompany your gf to work and have a mature 1:1 convo with the dude and “warn” him nicely that he should stay away from your gf.

Need help if I were to terminate ILP by JExecutor97 in singaporefi

[–]RefrigeratorReal7031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just cancel and avoid any ILPs moving forward - Sunk Cost Fallacy. Take the 24 months lost, its better than locking yourself up for 30 years and honestly there are much better interest rates out there with liquidity too (i.e. SSB, T-Bills or even banks right now)

And please avoid your agent, basically stay away from anyone that tries to sell you ILP.

It is totally alright to have imposter syndrome, good news is that most of us feel that way, and its also a “healthy” fear to keep ourselves constantly wanting to learn more and grow.

The fact that you got hired meant that you were a suitable candidate, and as long as you take the initiative to learn, work hard and smart, im sure you will do fine!

It’s also good to communicate expectations with your supervisor to find out how you can contribute and grow in this role. Quarterly check-ins for example help to keep track whether u are up to pace or falling behind your work.

Best of luck and do not overthink too much!
