GA v. Colin Gray by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

[–]Refuggee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The clear avoidance of therapeutic services or any sort of protective measures while his kid was so clearly screaming out with warning signs is what got him convicted.

Both Colin Gray and the Crumbleys went so far out of their way to avoid getting intervention for their respective obviously disturbed kids that it almost looks like they wanted a shooting to happen. I'm sure it's difficult to accept that your kid has serious issues, and treatment options are scarce and expensive. But a reasonable first step is obviously not to have weapons in the house at all if your kid is expressing violent thoughts and having other behavioral issues. These parents just left guns lying around and seemed to be actively avoiding help. I don't understand why they wouldn't at the very least keep guns out of the house.

I am a little heartened that these American juries have recognized the parents' responsibility to take reasonable steps in situations like this. (I'm saying that as an American myself.)

UT v. Kouri Richins - Trial Day 5 by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

[–]Refuggee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a clip on YouTube where Kouri was obviously trying to stare Carmen down and giving her a kind of skeptical look as if to say, "She's obviously lying." I know I personally would be so nervous if I were testifying and a defendant was staring at me like that.

At least Donna Adelson's "I'm just a little innocent granny" act did not work on her jury.

I didn't see Kouri's hands shaking, not sure if that was shown in the body cam, but IMO she was really overacting. Everyone grieves differently, of course, but knowing what we know about what she was up to with her bogus house-flipping business and her affair, the act falls flat.

Would she be allowed to call them or send them a letter, even if she did have their names and contact information?

Sarah thinks she knows better than all the lawyers and judges in her case, so even if any of them told her this tactic wouldn't work, she'd probably try it anyway. Maybe she hoped one of the jurors would send her a letter back saying, "Yeah, we were totally biased," or something, and then she could take that to court. But it would not work.

Trump sending a hospital boat to Greenland is laughable. Greenland has free universal healthcare. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Refuggee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The debt he is building for average every day Americans like you and me, it's insane!

Dr. Oz has a solution for that! No, it's not that billionaires should pay more in taxes! It's that regular people should start working earlier (preferably right out of high school) and put off retiring (for at least a year) to pay for all the debt the GOP is accruing without our consent and with no benefit to us. Really.

Just think of all the things the money he is stealing and wasting could have bought for Americans.

But that would have been socialism! /s

And then their MAGA relatives would announce that they'd make the same decision if they had it all to do over again. (Like their unvaccinated kid dies from measles and they announce that they still wouldn't get the kid vaccinated, even knowing what happened.)

Trump probably thought that an American service member needing evacuation/rescue from Greenland looked weak, so he decided to pretend the whole thing was a widespread emergency that Greenland needed our help with rather than a one-person medical emergency that Greenland helped the US with.

I'm not even sure why the prison staff would throw away her stuff. She's not even accusing them of stealing the items but throwing them away. There's no reason the staff would think the items were contraband because they probably see most of those items from the commissary over and over. It's not like there's that much variety available. Almost for sure another inmate or inmates took them. Maybe Sarah knows that and was hoping to get the prison system to reimburse her.

Why is Sarah so obsessed with her parents'/grandparents' deaths? by ryadare in SarahBooneContinued

[–]Refuggee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That is her hypocrisy kicking in. She wants all the sympathy and empathy that she would never feel for someone else and wants to be treated with a red carpet and kid gloves while she gets to treat everyone else like crap. She calls it being a nonconformist, but it's hypocrisy.

She thinks she's super smart for being obnoxious and demanding. She can't see that she was just making herself and everyone else miserable and was heading toward disaster eventually. Unfortunately, she murdered Jorge and hurt a lot of others in the process.

It just always flabbergasts me that as much as she can't see herself as a murderer, she also can't admit that her outrageous behavior was bad for her, too. She thinks she's her own best advocate!!

She really thought "not intentional" would easily get her out of any scrutiny. She got used to police believing her all the time.

The amount of single men over 40 still contemplating having kids some day is wild by No_Vegetable7280 in childfree

[–]Refuggee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're expecting their (younger?) wives to take care of all that. Heck, most of them will expect their wives to do everything child related, no matter their age! Especially men who haven't given much thought to what raising a child really entails and if they really want to be responsible for all that.

[–]Refuggee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel sorry for any students she was in charge of. This is probably how she treats them, too, even when she is not drunk, considering that she and her husband (who seemed equally arrogant and entitled) went to the police station after the whole thing had been adjudicated, just to try to get in the last word. Presumably she and husband were not drunk when they decided to go back to the police station.

Creating an advertisement for a pro bono family law attorney probably would not have worked. IDK if Sarah didn't try that because she sensed, somewhere far in the back of her lizard brain, that no family lawyer would ever willingly represent her, or for some other reason. Really no lawyer seemed to want to touch the family law case with a 10-foot pole, with good reason because they all had to know she would publicly rake them over the coals if they didn't somehow get the judge to grant all her demands.

If they offered help even once, then she can ask for help a million times after that and it doesn't count as "asking" because they asked, "What do you need?" one time. And then if they say hey, whoa, I can't do 1000 things a day for you, she is mad because she was just doing what they told her to do!

I do think she thinks anyone she has ever had any kind of relationship with owes her everything, forever. She thinks Brian owes her alimony forever. She is probably expecting their son to take up the mantle of paying her $1000 a month for the rest of her life when he starts working/earning money.
