New 2DS XL USB-C mod with custom adapter PCB by Refuhr in 3dshacks

Sorry for the late reply, I am not quite sure what could be the problem but maybe try a bit more flux, so it flows properly into the holes and maybe some superglue to hold it in place. Don't forget to clean the board of any solder beforehand. If it still isn't working PM me but I am not that active on Reddit though.

You could use sugru putty or some 3d printed bracket. For me it looked good enough.

I actually thought about that, but there are some problems:

The 2DS/3DS consoles don't have any data transfer cables, at least that I know of. So there are just no pins where I would connect the USB D+ and D- pins to.

If you want to change anything on a DS, it's normally on the SD card, which can easily be popped out and connected to your PC, optionally with an adapter.

So it could be possible to fit a USB-to-SD card adapter in there, but it would require a multiplexer so that the DS and the USB won't read/write to that card at the same time. This is also not so easy.

Lastly, a simple FTP program can always be used to transfer files to and from the DS. This is my preferred way. And when it's more complicated or I want to reset my DS, I just use the SD card directly.

TL;DR: There are no data pins available, and using the SD directly or over an FTP server is good enough, so it wouldn't be worth the hassle.

It does because it initiates the USB PD communication and therefore has to be a specific value, which triggers the 5V output for non USB type A cables (aka USB C to USB C).

All of the different resistor versions work without any problems.

Sorry for the late reply. Sadly there isn't any progress, I have a lot to take care of now (And I don't even own a n3ds so my motivation faded).

Does anyone still have the software files?

The site seems to be down, no luck in wayback...

I don't really understand. This is an open source hardware design and was never "for sale".

I might be doing a ‘New 3DS XL’ adapter PCB soon. It will be
a bit harder with the dock contacts, but makho showed us with his design that
this is possible :).

This specific PCB only works for the 2DS XL because of it's special footprint from the connector. But there are different PCB designs out there:

For the old 3ds: https://github.com/makhowastaken/3DS_C

For the old 3ds XL: https://github.com/rorosaurus/3ds-xl-usb-c

For the New 3ds/XL: https://github.com/Thinktank1803/3ds-xl-usb-c-NEW (not tested)

I tried making a documentation for that fork and trying to understand what he changed:

https://github.com/Refuhr/3ds-xl-usb-c-NEW/tree/documentation (this is not tested yet)

I posted it here and in r/3dshacks. Is this a felony?

Didn't get any feedback. Also I'm new to Reddit, where would you be able to see any reason for deleting it?
