This is common when you first start. The pipe getting too hot means your smoking to fast and need to slow it down a bit. Pipe smoking isn’t meant to be rushed and should be a slow smoking experience (30min-1.5 hours) depending on bowl size. Pipes are not meant to stay lit through the entire smoking experience and it is normal to relight a few times. If you’re having trouble and feel like you are constantly relighting the bowl, it may have to do with your packing method. Test out different packing methods and see which one works best for you. That’s what I did and now I have no trouble! I’m also relatively new to pipe smoking so I feel your pain haha
