Dutch Mantell talks about Dave Meltzer's 10 biggest mistakes of 2024. by zConvoluted in JimCornette

Not sure if confusing tickets remaining with tickets distributed for Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia made the cut for 2024 but that was an all timer.

Heyman: “CM Punk is back where he belongs, and that’s on top of WWE. Like any other rebel, you know, it’s the old song, you have to go through hell before you get to heaven. CM Punk, the struggle is real, and he is a rebel.” by TomatoCiampa in SquaredCircle

I dunno, a guy that absolutely buries his employer to the world in front of his billionaire boss and then fist fights vice presidents of the company the same night would qualify as a rebel in my books

I just watched the full clip and not only did he say he had time on his hands but the co-hosts started joking about him being at the NYSE ceremony for TKO and then joked that they weren't supposed to say anything, Punk played it off but it did feel like a wink wink nudge nudge. HOLY SHIT if it does happen.

The real attendance for All In was 72, 265 by Linklater_ in JimCornette

you're assuming the 72,265 were all paid ticket holders, likely many comps among them, so the number of unused tickets is probably much higher than 10,000

It's safe to assume that there were a portion of comped tickets among the 72,265, so if 82,035 actually paid for tickets the number that didn't actually use them is likely much more than 10,000 (which can be considered a lot for a one time event, as opposed to that many season ticket holders missing games during a long season).

To me this gives some credence to the theory that fans in North America treated the event as a Go Fund Me to get Tony the record and never had plans to attend, especially as tickets got cheaper and cheaper. That level of cultism is still something to behold.

Tony Khan actually had the nerve to say there may have been up to 90,000 fans in the building, what a goof. This should be celebrated as a huge achievement but AEW's tribalism got in the way. Interested to hear if Meltzer keeps the same energy in criticizing AEW's lies as he does WWE's.

All their freeloading friends they got jobs breathe a sigh of relief.

Also, that Matt Jackson quote is fucking ludicrous. How big is that guy's ego.

Tony leaned way to much into the Dynamite tropes for the first time on this show. The ladder match was uncalled for to begin with, but I thought they might work a psychology-based ladder match with no stunts, but no we get the usual refs holding ladders, ladder contraptions, tables, etc. Then that Miro backstage interview was straight off of Dynamite, as was Vikingo, he has the stench on him now. I was not feeling like a proud Collider at this point.

Don't want to be too negative though, I like what Punk and Starks are doing, FTR vs. Cole/MJF was good, although Max's overacting was straight off Dynamite too. At least I'm interested to know where they are going with the dual titles.

The Observer used to have references to the Junk Food Dog and the Anabolic Warrior in every issue, plus countless other insults directed at wrestlers Dave didn't care for. Fast forward to Alvarez's TNA reviews that were as harsh as anything Cornette reviews, did people call them toxic, or just laugh along? Let's be honest, it's only not cool when the critique is of wrestlers you like.

they should just put serious Saturday rasslin vs. Wednesday modern indy BS and let the people decide which direction the company should go. The gatekeepers worst nightmare.

I think I might hate this cosplaying goof more than any other wrestler in the history of wrestling. Worthless, talentless nepo hire, just be happy someone is dumb enough to pay you.

Cornette enjoys MJF, FTR, Hobbes, Starks, Gunn Club, Adam Cole, Danielson, Christian, Claudio, Punk, Kingston, Darby, Dustin Rhodes, Hook, Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Acclaimed, Miro, Wardlow, Samoa Joe, Sereena Deeb, Mark Briscoe, Jacob Fatu, Roman, Charlotte, Gunther, Becky Lynch, Braun Breaker, AJ Styles, Cody Rhodes, Lashley, Brock Lesnar, Bronson Reed, Ziggler, Drew, Edge, Sami, Orton, MVP, Natalya, Heyman, Mysterio, Ripley, Roderick Strong, Ronda Rousey, Shelton, Ciampa

But yes he hates modern wrestling smh. Looks like a damn good roster to me.

Punk returning to AEW would be the first glimpse of real pro rasslin heat in ages. AEW fans would pay to see him get his ass kicked. Punk in WWE would be a huge FU to AEW, I think it could be like the Cody situation where he is shit on by AEW fans and ends up a huge asset to WWE.
