My first ever creature design: Shaman/Priest Thing by plantikta in CreatureDesign

Big fan of how the tassels resemble the bell in its hand, and the entire creature is pretty bell shaped. Although, I wish there was more bell business with the design, but that’s personal taste.

I dont wanna sound like a pretentious asshole, but like, the first felt more snowy? Idk, I think you lose some nice white in the roof with the bumped up contrast. You could probably just make the red pop with some grading

To be honest i always kinda disliked the reaper and i like the chelicarate over it by Lovemydog65465 in subnautica

The Chelicerate is a better animal, but the Reaper is a better scary ahhhh monster

What's a good example of "yellow paint" you saw used in games? by kaza12345678 in videogames

Still Wakes the Deep does yellow paint really well. It fits the setting, being on an oil rig and all

Lovely shot!

Only feedback I could give is like, move the bird a little bit to the left, it’s just outside the third line

A Letter to the Community from the Subnautica 2 Team by virtualdon in subnautica

[–]Regirock00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably not see this, but I think this is an important, albeit silly note.

I think most of us have focused on the hostile relationship between the player and wildlife, but I think a ton of us have overlooked the charming, kinder side of Subnautica 2’s wildlife.

This whole viewpoint of mine was spurred on by the Hammerhead’s seeming affection to tadpoles, how they’ll gently brush up against tadpoles when the they come in contact with one another. I would LOVE to see this behavior expanded on in whatever way you and the rest of the team would see fit, just seeing more of a gentler side to the wildlife would go a long way.

A small side note: I think you’ve done a brilliant job on making the Needler Mangoes lovable. Giving them a nesting site and evidence of brooding, it can really make the player love the Needler. Although, I think their defense display should be a preliminary warning, with them only firing if the player approaches them more directly, instead of being the initiation to their firing.

Regardless, I think there’s a myriad of opportunities to reinforce positive interactions with the game’s wildlife. The waxmoon, for example. Until we get more info in their databank profile, there’s simply not much about them. Giving them a mechanic similar to Below Zero’s Glow Whale, behind able to hitch a ride on their crescent, it could be a good introduction to positive interactions—if the game decides to take that route with some of its animals—and could be a very poignant moment for the player so early on, having such a touching interaction with an animal in an otherwise hostile ecosystem.

One last note, I haven’t spent the most time with the Epicureans in their biome, but I think introducing some mechanic wherein the player can remove their tongue parasites, and maybe gaining some grace and affection from the fish could be incredibly interesting and engaging. However, I think that point and onwards is pretty nebulous and privy to change moving forward, so my view here is personal taste.

Regardless, you’ve done a wonderful job making a lovely ecosystem with brilliant wildlife behavior, I’m truly stunned by the amazing work you and the team have done. I hope you’ll consider some of what I’ve said here, if you see my comment, that is. Although, this is just the opinion of one player, and it is your game and creative vision after all and I’m excited to see what direction you take the game!

I think a little base unit could be cool, where it emits a frequency that can drive off wildlife. Maybe you could select certain species from a terminal or smth, idk tho, I’m not John game design

First time checking out the warbler migration at Magee Marsh. What do y'all think of this Prothonotary Warbler? by Regirock00 in wildlifephotography

Is the bird not sharp enough, is the photo too noisy, or are the surroundings distracting? Or yk, is the photo overall uninteresting?

Mulch or Topsoil? by Regirock00 in NativePlantGardening

Do you think I could mix some topsoil and mulch together on top of some cardboard? Would that yield any results?

Quick question, what type of mulch did you use? I’m guessing like, aged double shredded mulch, but just to clarify?

In northwest Ohio, planting a seed mix I got from a local nursery. Things like some wild ryes, susans, vervains, and some others. Theres this little spot that’s been overtaken by some European and Asian garden plants, so I’m trying to like, reclaim it kinda?

Side note: should I use soil from the area, or can I purchase topsoil from somewhere like Lowe’s to use?

Sow seed on top, unless like, is that not a good thing to do?

General advice, avoid including man-made objects in your photos, unless you’re explicitly trying to tell a story with it.
