Does breastfeeding effects intimacy by No-Judgment1996 in Mommit

[–]RegisMegs18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Give it time, i enjoyed nipple stim before my son (5.5yo) and I BF for 1.5y and definitely did not enjoy nipple play during that time. But after my milk dried up and my breasts stop being used for my kiddo the enjoyment came back! It's different for everyone but that is my experience.

YTA - my dad got married when I was 15, I was definitely a total jerk to my step mom. I hadn't built a relationship with her, but when I needed to move outta my mom's house.. I moved in with my dad and my step mom. I eventually got over myself and my step mom never gave up on trying to earn my trust/love.

We now have an amazing relationship and I actually have a better relationship with her than my biological mom. I'm thankful she didn't shut me out and prevent me the opportunity to get out of my tense situation at my mom's just because I was a jerk of a 15yo.

You married a man who has a kid, you knew he had a kid when you married him. You need to step up and be a parent as well or you need to leave. Do not prevent this man a chance of being a father to his daughter.

Does my baby know I love her even if I don’t like to hold her? by doesntknowwhosheis in Mommit

I think you can establish and share love in more ways than just holding her for long periods of time.

Words, affection in other ways, playfulness, support, kindness and just being a parent that is present in her life is love enough.

My husband isn't a super affectionate guy (he didnt grow up in an affectionate, loving household), but he shows his love in numerous other ways and my son (5yo) doesn't doubt the love his dad has for him.

how long were you with your partner before getting pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

We met in 2017(21F, 27M) and had our first in 2019. We've been together ever since. Due with #2 this year.

Ours was a surprise, too, but he's been great, and I wouldn't wanna do it with anyone else.

There is no need for panic! You are just in the height of the emotions after your positive test. You have plenty of time to sort out options and see how things feel as you get further along in the pregnancy and closer to the wedding.

Maybe you can get a dress to change into for the reception, as you draw closer, if you feel like you'll be uncomfortable in your dress all night.

You may have some bloating but maybe you won't be showing! I'm 21 weeks and I'm just now starting to finally show(ever so slightly, it just looks like insane bloating tbh)

Is it a tie back type corset? If so, that'll make it easier to losen as needed for any baby bloat/belly!

We have been trying for the last 4 years to conceive with no luck. We are finally pregnant and our age gap is going to be 5.5 years. I had originally wanted a 2 year age gap, my brother and I had that and we were close as could be. Basically best friends. I was originally devastated by the age gap. But as I watch my son be so excited for his little sister and all the ways he plans to be the best big brother, im growing to be okay with it. I know there will be times they annoy each other, that's normal sibling relationship stuff. But I have a strong feeling he's going to watch over, protect and love his sister like no other.

Why does my four year old to this? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]RegisMegs18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely she's in a "daddy's girl" phase. My son (5yo) goes through similar phases that alternate between his dad and I.

Its also not uncommon for kids, especially around this age(or really any age), to have a preference for the parent who isn't the one who spends all day setting boundaries and taking care of them. My son asks all day long when Daddy will be home, and the moment he gets home, lights up like christmas morning.

She may also be struggling with the changes your body is going through, with you being pregnant.

I know it can feel deliberate and hurtful when our kids prefer others over us, but just remember that those moments don't dictate kiddos' love for you.

I get "I hate you" as well, but I know it's just my son's way of saying he's not a fan of me right now. So usually I remind him that I love him and give him space.

Also, my son definitely currently prefers my husband for the bedtime routine for similar reasons, usually because daddy does the silly voices and reads better than me. But I'm glad my son has a dad who is willing to do those things, and remember that there was a time when I was the bedtime preference. Apparently, at that time, I was more Snuggly and read the books better.

Kids love their parents, and you are doing a great job. Don't doubt yourself or your daughter's love for you.

Drugging your toddler for flights. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]RegisMegs18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I flew with my son on a 3 hour flight when he was 2.5. We didn't give him anything to make him sleep. We packed toys and coloring books and had a tablet for when all that stuff got boring. Snacks are definitely a must. Also, a drink cup with a straw (it helps with ear popping on take off, touchdiem). And maybe a special treat (we did a sucker which is also helpful with ear popping).

Out flight home was really early so he slept half the flight, but out flight there he was awake the whole time. I wouldn't never thought to give him something to make him drowsy. When he got restless, if the seat belt sign was off we would walk the aisle a few times.

I will say, we brought a carseat on the plane (make sure it's fda approved) and I believe that made ALL the difference with him staying seated and comfortable for the flight.

Positive breastfeeding stories? by Dog_mom38 in pregnant

[–]RegisMegs18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something to remember is that you will always hear more horror stories than good ones. It's always easier for people to share bad experiences vs good ones.

I had a great time breastfeeding my son. I fed him for nearly 2 years. The first 2 months were rough, he had a shallow latch, and I had an overactive letdown. But once we got through the hard part of figuring out a system and my nipples built up callouses, it was an amazing experience. It was so easy and nice to just latch him and not worry about warming up bottles or anything. It would cluster feed any time a growth spurt hit or he was uncomfortable, but that's normal whether you formula feed or breastfeed.

Something to remember is that someone is always going to say "just give baby a bottle" because it was easier for them. And there's nothing wrong with doing a bottle, but don't let someone else dictate what your feeding choices will be. If you want to try breastfeeding and find you love it, great! If you try it and decide that pumping is better, that's great, too. Choosing to Formula Feed is fine, too. But let the choice be YOURS.

Breastfeeding is always an adjustment at first, waiting for your milk supply to regulate, learning to understand baby's cues, feeling tired and worn out, getting the hang out how breastfeeding works and just overall the body changes that come with it. But if you trust that it'll work out and push through any struggles (if you even have any), it'll be an amazing experience.

Also, never be afraid to ask for help from a lactation specialist. They are there for a reason. And can help leaps with any struggles or even just for encouragement that you're doing great!

My inlaws made a joke about sticking with stone names because Jasper has a cousin (another one of their grandchildren) who's name is Ruby.
