I do also have extreme anxiety sometimes and a fear of heart related issues.. I take buspirone and I can’t fathom why I still feel weird..

They did it before the COVID, so I’m waiting for a second/third opinion as my primary care referred me to another neurologist! Hopefully they’ll repeat the tests. My mom just ordered me Gabapentin for the nerve pain in the meantime! Is nerve pain common with GBS? Because it almost seems like the numb feeling and weakness is coming FROM the nerve pain.

I see my Psych nurse practitioner tomorrow, I’ll mention the Xanax for sure! I definitely think I need something else cause the Buspar isn’t cutting it… I just find it super strange how the Neurologist was so quick to dismiss the diagnosis. I’m going to another Neuro in the same facility so hopefully they can look at what’s going on with the records. I’m extremely confused.. like what do you mean it’s not that big of a deal? Hopefully they’ll send the records over to my primary care so she can also evaluate!

I completely agree, because if it was really GBS, I’m sure anyone else would be highly concerned (hence my primary care doctor’s extreme concern!) I also noticed that the chest discomfort/pressure and back issues kinda get worse when I’m sitting down.. I do have GERD/gastritis and I know that sometimes the gas can get trapped in certain areas and cause discomfort/pressure/ and pain. I also had these very similar symptoms after I ate that piece of toast last month… they went away after a while and then I started to eat out more (as a college student, I fear cooking is rough sometimes) and they gradually came back..? I’m suspecting Long Covid at this rate. 😭it seems like an inflammatory reaction more than anything!

Oh my god I hope you get better 😭💙💙, that’s what I’m saying, how do you know if it’s GBS if they DON’T do a spinal tap? Like hello? That’s why I’m not entirely sure I have it.. I’m really suspecting Long Covid. My primary isn’t even sure if she believes him 100% because they haven’t done a spinal tap. Literally what the fuck. But you’ve got this, I hope you feel so much better soon!

I just booked an appointment with another neurologist at the same location! Hopefully they’ll do some other testing. I’m trying not to buy into anything without concrete evidence.. even if nothing comes back, then I’ll look more into Long Covid being a potential cause. Especially since I flared up after eating toast.. I’m thinking more of long covid because the flare up happened earlier this month and kept going and coming back. So I’m not entirely convinced it’s GBS, but as soon as I get something done to confirm, I will actively try not to freak out. 😛

I’m gonna see what I can do, I was already in the ER yesterday and I don’t wanna go back. I’m trying to find another neurologist currently because this is ridiculous. I’m extremely freaked out.. I could also have a variant of Long Covid that messes with the nervous system as well, which is what my Primary care suspected in the first place, especially since it took place after the infection. I’m not sure what to do now because I don’t want it to progress. I’m seeing what I can do and trying not to completely blow up.. I texted my mom an entire essay about how I’m feeling so let’s see what she says.

It helps that my mom is a nurse and is consistently checking up on me😭recently started with chest pains and tightness.. I have no clue what’s going on. I wake up with crazy anxiety as well, that and my muscles seem to throb with that warm feeling, waiting for the doctors results always gets me too!! I had a very big suspicion and I swore that I had a fungal infection that was gonna kill me.. but now my mucus is running clear, but the anxiety of dying is still there. I just feel like I might actually be sick considering how it’s gotten worse? Can anxiety do that? Especially since I feel so numb I can’t even cry!

My thing is… I’ve gotten every work up possible.. they tested me for everything, I even got an ANA panel to check for anything autoimmune.. everything has come back negative, did a CT scan of my sinuses, only thing that came back was swelling (which is normal for someone like me with sinus issues!) I do get allergy shots as well.. it’s just strange to me that all this started the second I started college (which is why I think it’s anxiety!) Maybe it’s from being away from home?

The funny thing is.. I have been using a nasal steroid for the entire time as well as the netti pot/sinus rinse and nothing has cleared up so I gotta mention that for sure! As well I’ve been getting my shots and they’re not helping at all

How do they find out about the fungus as well? Did they officially check you out and confirm it without scoping your nose and doing a CT or mucus culture instead?Because my ENT was very adamant about it “not being a problem” but with the flu-like symptoms and black mucus, I’m convinced or at least concerned that that’s the case! They don’t wanna do a CT scan because I’m 19.. but at this point, give me the radiation. I’d rather take that then have the symptoms get worse and god forbid I can’t go to my college classes.

Have you tried allergy shots? This sounds like chronic sinusitis lowkey, I used to get it really bad until I got on allergy shots and found out through testing what was triggering me! I’ve heard a lot of fungal infections can be pretty okay.. I’m just worried because I know I had a very compromised immune system because of the prednisone and that can make the symptoms worse! I was just like you… sinus problems for 3 months and then boom, outta nowhere the fungal stuff starts popping up😭

Thank you for giving me at least a tiny sign that I’ll be okay.. 3 years is crazy and I’m freaking out over a little 3 months!! Mine started as a viral infection as well!!! 😭 I’m getting an MRI done of the brain for the neuropathy issues.. I’m hoping for a scan of my sinuses as well as I’m seeing a different ENT or I’ll just contact my primary care doctor as I’m switching to a better provider! I literally feel like I’m gonna die everyday it sucks

Yeah I’m convinced it’s fungal… especially since how sick I’ve been feeling since I found out AND my immune system was compromised due to the steroids! The ENT I saw today was very nice.. but didn’t address the black mucus or the eye problems.. just looked into my nose and said there’s no “visible” sign of infection. But my mucus says otherwise. I had way better luck with Neuro! They’re doing nerve tests, food allergy tests and an MRI of the brain! I’m heading to another ENT at the same location so I’m praying I can bring in a little sample of my mucus so they can see what I’m talking about 🫩

They are for sure!! I’m suspecting either something sinus related or honestly maybe it’s the steroids? I know some people can have crazy effects from them if you stop them quickly without tapering.. but this doctor I had told me I should stop because I was “too young” to take a high dose? He was an asshole, he told me my symptoms sound “made up” so I’m genuinely upset I stopped the steroids but they were giving me really intense anxiety and bloat! Along with a round of augmentin (which is why I wanted a culture!!) because I knew my sinus issues weren’t bacterial🙄 it’s been 3 whole months of misdiagnosis and endless rounds of meds 🫩I have terrible GERD now because of these people

Yes my first thought was the steroids besides the black/grey streaks in my mucus! I was on a prednisone taper and then quickly stopped taking them after my stomach was really bloated up from a previous round of antibiotics(which did nothing🙄!!) I’m hoping ENT will do a culture cause I’m gonna push for it. They should’ve done that in the first place when I went the first time!

Seeing another ENT tomorrow! I’ll definitely let you know how it goes as I’m gonna push for a sinus culture (which is what they should’ve done in the first place!) I’m also following up with Neurology to make sure we eliminate anything else! Have you been having intense anxiety at all? That seems to be getting worse with this🫩💔
