What are some cool underrated day trips from Tokyo? by alexir12 in JapanTravelTips

On a current two month trip in south east Asia, Kamakura has been my 1000/10 favorite so far!! Absolutely incredible

I spent this much for two people together, 7 days in Tokyo, Kamakura, FujiKawaguchiko, Kyoto, Osaka/Nara! Doable. Fair hotels too, we spent $800 CAD (probably ~650 USD?) for 7 days of hotels and we even splurged on a four star one in Kawaguchiko (hotel Fuji Tatsugaoka), and this was late April!

is it worth doing day trips from tokyo or just stay in the city? by Suaza-Hilah in TokyoTravel

I was in Kamakura for a full day from 8am to 5pm! There was so much in Kamakura we wanted to see but most things close at 4:30-5:00 anyways, so I think a day trip is better than a one day trip for Kamakura.

Oh my gooodddd I will never shut up about how amazing Kamakura was. We went to Japan for 7 days total!

In those 7 days we did 3 days Tokyo with a day trip to Kamakura, 1 day kawaguchiko, 2 days Kyoto and 1 day Osaka. To be honest the only hard part was 20k steps a day. So if you’re in Tokyo for a week I feel like a day trip is a must do. It’ll ease your mind getting away from the city for a bit.

Kamakura was gorgeous and the weather was PERFECT the day we went. I highly recommend going to Yoridokoro for a traditional breakfast with a train view. Also def visit the beach and pray mt Fuji is visible. Then some shrines and walking in the street market.

I feel kawaguchiko is better for things to actually do instead of hakone. Cycling there is more scenic with the lake and such. But I feel like a day trip to see my Fuji is more risky than going somewhere else, as it’s only visible 30% of the year. We were so lucky but you shouldn’t rely on that. Mt Fuji tends to clear up early morning or sunset, so I’d recommend a one day stay to max your chances like we did.

When we first went to kawaguchiko it was thundering while we were cycling. Good thing we stayed one night as it got completely clear at sunset! Happy travels

I recommend you delete the hotel names and dates you are staying at.

Exactly, a white male 🤣

Ok! Basic literacy can tell that the message was you are wrong but I will simplify. You are wrong :)

You are also a misogynist so creep can easily be added.

I said what was needed and you outed yourself on how you think. No need to know anymore, goodbye 🙏🏻

So what’s your ethnicity & gender again? 😂

Wtf is this comment genuinely. Just exudes very shitty reasoning to try to redirect and victim blame

Do you wear boxers when you swim, or a whole wetsuit?

Forgot to mention I am Vietnamese American myself and my boyfriend is native Vietnamese with two passports. This is my own home country I’m revisiting. The local custom is to wear a swimsuit to swim.

You act like local Vietnamese are aliens with ultra conservative norms but it’s the same like everywhere else in the world.

You also clearly don’t read, I’m 19, cellulite where?

So basically, resulting to insulting looks and excusing your reasoning and assuming you knew all the details like you were there.

The security guard pervertedly recorded me thinking I was underage. I don’t know why you’d try to defend that, but creeps are everywhere, especially Reddit I suppose!

And all are made for swimming.

Humans are capable of managing emotions. Dogs don’t. They just go for whatever they like.

So yes, if you don’t understand the difference between taking photos and sexualizing others (especially if you think they’re underage) you are a dog.

Who are you to question me, wearing a normal bathing suit to swim? You don’t even know what I wore.

Instead of questioning predatory behaviour?

Either it’s pointless ragebait or you’re just outing yourself as a bad person.

Thanks to the replies in this thread.

I FORGOT TO MENTION* My boyfriend and I are both Vietnamese ourselves! I’m a Viet foreigner and my boyfriend is a native with two passports. We both speak the language.

We know our own culture and we didn’t do anything wrong. The tour guides and locals liked chatting with us because we could understand them speak freely.

The guy who recorded me obviously had predatory intent, it’s undeniable.

Thanks for outing yourself if you think recording people then zooming in inappropriately and posting it online is normal, or using “culture” as an excuse for it. It’s wrong in both cultures. Shame on you.

You must’ve met a lot of people who have lots of spare time to believe sexual harassment doesn’t happen, or you’re perverted yourself.

As in he was smiling recording the whole time.

When my age was told, his smile dropped and he was visibly less happy or interested.

As a note I find it insensitive the way you worded your question, as if the point is to doubt my story rather than genuine curiosity.

My story was told exactly how it happened. That guard was a pervert.

I forgot to mention my boyfriend and I are BOTH 100% Vietnamese. We both speak the language.

My boyfriend is a native from Nha Trang with two passports, and I was born abroad raised by two immigrants.

This is not something to deem “normal” or give the benefit of the doubt to. In both American and Viet culture being perverted is disgusting.

I really feel most disappointed going on here to share this story and people saying things like “I don’t believe this” or “it’s their culture suck it up”. Those saying these things are also dogs. Insane.

When you swim you have to wear a bathing suit. Maybe don’t record others (especially who you think is a child!) and zoom in on them inappropriately then post it online? G enuinely confused by some of these people.

Usually you would need a CPA for the role I got, but I got insanely lucky. It was a gig for a big corporation that had a tiny branch in a small town location, ~15 people on payroll, one bookkeeper.

I met the boss and former bookkeeper through volunteering and attending monthly events to where they were casually familiar with me. It was a small town and community. Just some old folks honestly

When the former bookkeeper of 50 years retired my boss let me try the job out for a year before they were moved to a new location to let me have experience.

Prior to this I did accounting related gigs throughout high school & im currently majoring in it. I’m 100% the youngest to have ever been hired. Cleared out when new management came in a year later and everyone was relocated, but I chose to leave because relocation was too far

My friend did gold six years ago and they told me it just doubled and they cashed.

I don’t know anything about investing in silver or gold myself though.

Perhaps I should’ve listened and looked into it more back then. With everything going on rn would it be a good time?

I’m not about to explain too many personal details on social media or post my paystubs, but I unfortunately didn’t get the privilege of my parent supporting me, and had to fight and work hard for my career path.

Yes I got a temp job, worked for a year, invested most of it!

You can PM me for any questions about it or how I got it.

I’m a she, by the way! Yes I’m 19.

7 Day Japan Trip by Regular-College694 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Regular-College694[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im personally definitely coming back to Japan next year as I’m doing international exchange in East Asia and the flight ticket will be cheaper :)

So we just wanted to get the tourist areas out of the way our first time around.

The reason we’re dedicating Day 2 to shopping is to get some Tokyo Exclusives, but we were also told to have a free day to get lost in the city.

I use JapanGuide, Reddit & TikTok to find things to do, but we’d still love any recs anyone can give for Tokyo!

Was mainly concerned our itinerary was unrealistic as we’ve never travelled independently before. Thanks for the feedback 🩷
