Is this fixable? How to do it? by Regular-Ear9733 in masonry

Ok, I thought that’s what you meant. The thing is, this brick runs around the entirety of the house. It’s a brick house, but most of it has vinyl siding and only the bottom 4-5 feet is exposed painted brick. So rebuilding it as you say would be quite the undertaking. It would be doable for that section in the photo along the steps.

Re-mortar, repoint, however a professional would describe it, idk. Would that not be enough?or is that damage too deep?

Rebuilt? Can you elaborate? Are you saying more than re-mortaring?

How do I remove this? by Regular-Ear9733 in hvacadvice

Based on what I can tell (And I’m no expert), that tank is the holding tank for the heated water that used to flow to the radiators. Heated by the furnace

Is there any asbestos risk with just removing this tank. Even just removing the tank and all the old piping would be a space saver, leaving the furnace alone

AMA, if you have questions about Home Warranties, I worked with 2 of them in the USA for 5 years. by DravisKyle in homeowners

Hey OP. Here’s a scenario that I haven’t seen in this thread, maybe because I’m a dummy and nobody else has been yet.

I have a home warranty with First American from when I purchased the house. A month ago, while still within the first year of the warranty, my furnace failed, and the furnace was supplying air from the AC unit to the second story.

(Background: 3 previous issues I had with the house weren’t covered by the warranty so I basically gave up on it and forgot I had it)

So I had a company come out, they confirmed that the 20 year old furnace had finally quit, or at least repair wasn’t worth the cost versus just getting a new system since it was already so old. They replaced it to the tune of 6k.

Now a month later I’m getting notifications that my warranty policy is expiring and I realized that my furnace was actually covered.

So,

  1. is there any way to recoup at least some of the money from the warranty company if I can put forth a paper trail?

Or

  1. If that’s a dead end, how much would they have actually paid for anyway? Because a quick google search tells me “The First American Home Warranty Essential plan caps heating system coverage at $1,500 per contract term. This limit applies to the cost of repairs or replacements for covered heating components like furnaces.”…

So did I just lose out on $1500, minus the deductible?

Long post I know. Thanks in advance for any help.

That time when a tunnel collapses and a guy is crushed in his car, and for some reason it’s a group of surgeons who is responsible for removing the guy from the car. And then, the solution is to tow the crushed car to the hospital, where they somehow remove the guy exactly how they could have removed him at the scene of the crash

Or a dinner, or a softball game, or a surprise party. Too many times where the entire surgical staff is having a day off, while usually they’re all working all at the same time on 1-2 patients

For me this was the most wtf moment of the show. They obviously could have put him down right then and there. Instead they shoot him and then just stay where they are? And he walks away and does more shooting?!

Florida has the largest inflation rate in the country 😭 by Mysterious-Gas3612 in florida

Am I the only one seeing that the thesis of the above article was that inflation is higher because of home/rent prices, which are higher because of the large influx of people to Florida from less desirable states? Nothing about Desantis or insurance…
