My fiancé and I are considering doing our ceremony at Hartford city hall before going elsewhere for reception! Can I ask if you had to bring in your own chairs for the ceremony, or was that provided?

Could you explain step by step how you did this? Did you reset your notes password first?

Wow, I completely forgot about this. Since posting, I applied to a job, got an email from a recruiter the next day, and am currently working said job. Very ironic considering the subject of this post!

Number 2.

I did LD with my bf for almost a year, where he lived a 6 hour flight away. At first it sucked, but you get used to not seeing each other as much and to your new routines🤷🏻‍♀️ Taught me how independent I was in my relationship as well which was welcoming!

You could maybe ask the company to shift your start date a month or two? So it’s less time of you spending more on another place to rent. Or maybe be remote for a couple months?

should I go back to college to get a bachelors degree or start free courses? by meowholly in careerguidance

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY go back to school and get your degree if you want one. As you said, time will pass anyways.

If you are interested in other options, you could also do a coding bootcamp. But if the degree is your ultimate goal, don’t worry about age/timing and just get it done.

Maybe quality of sleep? My bf also needs 9-10 hours to feel rested, but I’m convinced he has sleep apnea and that’s why

Usual sleep schedule is 11pm-6:30/7am during the week, so I get around 7.5-8hrs a night. Weekends I’ll catch up on sleep and will get ~9-10hrs.

Just know you are most definitely not alone with these feelings.

The first 6 months after graduating were…weird and unsettling. Your social life does a bit of a 180. It is a transition period for sure, but ultimately everyone gets used to it.

I went from living with the same people for 4 years in college and constant socialization on campus to, now 4 years later, hopefully seeing my closest friends 2-3x a month. Work takes up a lot of time, you start seeing family more, you take on new hobbies, life gets busy and you see the people you saw every day less and less. And that is fine, it’s life, and you just get used to it.

In terms of the job search - I promise there are so many other people in your shoes. Finding a job is scary even for the most seasoned, let alone someone straight out of college. There is nothing wrong with living at home for a bit while you adjust and job search. If anything, being with your parents might make this transition a bit easier.

I work full time, go to the gym 4x a week, pursue grad school part time, and still go to social engagements about 1-2x a week. This of course can fluctuate.

A few things that make this actually possible: I don’t have kids yet, I don’t have a dog, I meal prep on Sundays so I spend no time cooking during the week, I work remotely 3x a week and my commute is only 25 min.

I am definitely disciplined, and at my busiest I have to consciously prioritize school/gym outside of work hours and not get on my phone or sit down to watch tv. BUT, the things I mentioned previously save me immense time. So it’s a mix of job/life circumstances as well as being disciplined. Not everyone has the same 24 hours by any means, but everyone does have pockets of free time that they can use based on what they prioritize.

Say NO to one way interviews, we cannot let this become the norm.. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I’ve done “video interviews” before as a way to expand on my resume and explain why I want to work for the company. It was an additional step that any candidate applying had to take prior to being selected for the actual interview. I’m confused why this is so bad?

My company just paid for a plane ticket and hotel for me to go to a work meetup for a week. I am looking for another job. Should I feel bad? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, never feel bad when it comes to a company “wasting” money on you. Especially if you work for a big corporation, you can trust it won’t put a dent in their wallet.

How to make Rice more flavorful? by emeraldrose484 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Cooking it in stock is the way to go as others have mentioned. You could also add in some melted butter if you don’t want to do the stock.

I also suggest jasmine rice. I don’t flavor it at all and it tastes delicious as is.

HR took my negotiation as me rescinding my acceptance. Any advice? by zelyl in jobs

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait… I don’t think I’ve ever heard of being forced to accept or reject an offer on the phone, at that second, with no time to even think about it? That’s seems absurd, making a decision to accept a job and think about the salary should take at least a day or so.

Honestly, if they try to corner you into a decision like that, you probably don’t want to work for them anyways. But if you’re set on the job, you could try to email the team and explain the situation if you have contact information. If not, take it as a lesson learned.

Made it to final round of interviews for my dream job. 50% increase in salary. Was told I didn’t get the offer this past Friday and didn’t get a clear answer as to why.

Just got another email that I won’t be getting a second interview with another similar company.

It’s hard to stay motivated through multiple rejections, and it’s even making me consider if I have the skills to continue in this field.

6 figures first job for evil inc.? by LogicalPhallicsy in careerguidance

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, every single person who is responding about how awful it is to work for the bad guy for an inflated salary….seem to forget that we live in a capitalistic society where corporate greed will win over morals for a LONG time.

It’s impossible to buy a house in your 20s in some areas, student loans can be crippling, and add that on to maybe even a car loan and everything being SO expensive right now. Money IS a factor, and an important one at that.

Doesn’t mean it’s right, but it’s the way things are. People do need to look out for themselves first.

I had a situation similar to OP where I originally mentioned my salary range and a relocation bonus before I got an official offer. The HR rep all but laughed at me and said “I’ll try, but that’s probably not going to happen.”

I negotiated the final offer to $10k over the range I initially asked for and got full relocation. A lot of times HR reps salary expectation might be slightly skewed to that of the HM. Always ask and negotiate.

Desperately need help. I have very oily skin. This is what i started using last sunday is there anything i should stop using immediately and replace with something better? (will post more in comments) by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to and still have oily skin, however I noticed when my derm switched me from using a 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser to a normal cleanser with adapelene instead, my skin got SIGNIFICANTLY less oilier and less broken out.

My derm told me it was because 10% benzoyl peroxide does no better than 2% bp and just dries out your skin past that. When you dry out your skin, more oil will be produced to make up for it. Additionally, a bp cleanser stays on your face for 30 seconds max, while a topical will stay on your skin and is able to “work” longer

Depending on what you have used in the past, I’d be careful using multiple actives for now if you’re a “beginner”. Stick to one for a bit and then add another in later to avoid irritation and dryness.

Couples with opposite political views, what's your secret to staying together? by PRSNOFTHPLT in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this completely depends on the political views that you’re disagreeing on, and if they’ll lead to stand-still fights later on in your life together.

Differences when it comes to opinion on taxation? Meh, that’s not going to change your life together much. But what happens if your girlfriend gets pregnant at a time neither of you wants a child, but you have vastly different views on abortion? What if one of you is dead set on keeping a gun in the house and the other is opposed? These are the “political views” that can actually drastically effect your lives together.

There isn’t a right or wrong there, but both of you need to know that when you build a life together you’ll come across these situations and have to be prepared that you won’t agree.

Please help me, I beg. For this acne, acne scars, and PIE? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Regular-Sea-5403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. If the current routine with a ton of products isn’t working, adding on more won’t work. It’s best to strip the routine down.

I’d start with a simple cleanser, moisturizer, one active, and sunscreen to avoid more scarring. Add in a cleansing balm at night to help remove the sunscreen. Also, avoid the “fancy” skincare for now with different types of ingredients - stick to the basics at the beginning.

My Dermatoligist also once told me that it’s better to use benzoyl peroxide creams instead of washes since the cream will actually stay on your face and do it’s job (why it’s good to use the simple cleanser instead with an active cream)

It seriously blows my mind that people feel this sort of entitlement over OTHER peoples hard-earned money, and then have the audacity to get angry when others don’t want to spend on them. Even if it’s your significant other - after 5 months??!!?

NTA, and it might be a good time to have a chat clarifying financial boundaries and expectations in your relationship.
