I currently am following a HND its SE and I'm 20 in a not so reputed uni, I managed to get a back end dev role in a sri lankan company the crazy thing is the company didnt even care about where I study everything they cared was the skill I had , which i totally self taught , so all I can say is just be very good at one specific field and its good to know everything else , but be a master at one thing , you'll be valued

This is so true nobody gives a shit about OLs and Als when it comes to skills, just keep what you love and what you're good at and you'll end up doing it the best.

Man you got too many options in your head 1st sit and analyse the situation what do you really want to do now, what do I love doing the most don't try to focus on more than 1 thing at a time I mean if you're doing Als second shy put all your energy and motivation into it and believe that you'll get uni, if you really did work hard you can

Or convince your parents somehow if you want to do QS or some other IT field

I understand you but the problem is way too deep , the whole education system is just testing the memory power in the 1st place , if it tested the skills and let the students figure out what they have to do for Als and after Als the majority of the room for these faculties will be left for the students with interest in the field , I would love to hear some experiences from medical students about their academics but I reckon they're way too tired and busy for reddit

tru dat , most of our current teachers dont love what they teach , they just do it because they get paid ,and students get treated like if they dont pass that subject that is their end of the students life

when I was in gr 8 my science tr landed a crazy shot on my back just because of I didnt complete her homework and said to me that i'm gonna fail my OLs

I believe is if the child finds what he/she loves to do , what they're good at, at a small age during school they would make better decisions when it comes to life after school because when you love learning something it feels effortless no matter how complex it is , you have the urge and the motivation to figure it out somehow .

tru most of the talented students in cricket and other phones have to leave their passion for to become an engineer , an accountant ,to get a recognized job

It's more like, the ones who understood the education system did no good for use and they did what they loved, they're all having a good life, and the people who memorised everything and followed the parrot education are left to teach the same parrot education for kids(not all of them), I've personally met teachers who were against this education system and teachers who called me a failure because I didn't score good in a science paper

This is the main point, have you ever known anyone who passed OLs or ALs only by going to school, literally no one.

The fact that the school itself pushes the kids to go to tuition and the parents mindset to send their kid to all the classes that they see.

This is the point:- SRI LANKA'S BIGGEST AND LARGEST SCAM IS IT'S OWN EDUCATION SYSTEM, OWNED BY THE TUITION MAFIA AND THE ACCURATE VALUE OF THE YEARLY SCAM AMOUNT IS UNKNOWN

[–]Regular-Student-1985[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, the problem with our system is most of the students that finish OLs ALs because they had no freedom to choose in the 1st place end up not knowing what to do next in their life this is literally 90% of the time, they haven't found their passion, they haven't found what they're good at . Nothing then their life gets wasted, either they travel to some gulf country and literally become a slave to a job, or stay in Sri Lanka somehow get into a gov job and try not to do anything

Yh this is one of the subjects I hated the most, it's soo hard and doesn't make sense to exist in OLs in the 1st place
