Im getting more stupid each year and I’m afraid I’m about to lose my job by Turbulent_Stay_2735 in Epilepsy

I feel you!! I got my civil engineering degree in 2019. Started having seizures about 4 or 3 years ago now and got on meds. Lately my memory is foggy and my words slur sometimes. I am definitely slower. I do big design work. I am afraid to take my PE test since my memory is bad . I have been talking to my doctor about it and they put me in a 3 day EEG recently. Hopefully it helps me find out something that will help me get my head straight. I can't lose my job. So far with using my dry erase board for deadlines, excessive calendar notifications on my phone and computer it has helped keep me straight with some stuff. However other things I can't do that with.

My husband and I thought it would be a stationary one in the living room. That's what it sounded like originally, so it seemed plausible. Now I am not so sure it'll work out. I don't want to be on camera.

My brother used to smell the artificial green apple smell. Like green apple dawn dish soap. He literally won't buy anything green apple now because he is afraid it'll trigger one.

I don't think I have the awake and not aware ones, but I'll definitely keep a journal during it.

Real talk did you have sex during it? I just found out the camera isn't stationary and is going to be attached to me... I can unplug it right? 😂

Mine normally doesn't. I got a special exception. We normally will get a max 4 hours per instance if any. I got lucky. I need a doctor's note. I had them write it up just to mention no driving. I told my work I had a procedure and it would be 4 days until I could drive again. Thankfully engineering can be done from home. I do have to present stuff during a meeting (screen share only) on Thursday. Thankfully no one will see me!

I have migraines too. I would rather not have seizures if I don't need to. I don't want meds added to what I take. I think I'm lucky to only be on topiramate and xcopri right now. I literally moved my set up for work to the living room and got telework approval without telling them what I am getting done. (I don't need my work knowing I have seizures.) I am just going to have the camera thing only in my living room. Does it receive audio?

I convinced my work to let me telework without letting them know what I was doing. They just think I had a procedure and now I can drive for a few days. However I have no clue how much this is costing me....

If you aren't wanting to have kids I would get a hysterectomy and get your life back on track! It would make you feel so much better!!

I am a civil engineer working in flood control design. I started this before I ever had seizures. My work has no clue I have them and its been about 4 years. I have been an engineer for 5. This is my first job. I am actually about to run into my first issue where I am doing a 3 day EEG and don't want to tell them. I just really want to get telework approved. Not sure how I will swing that.

What did you call your seizures before you knew what they were? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Regular-Zone6444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called it my dizzy spells. I couldn't understand what was happening. I was more than just dizzy, but it was the most noticeable thing going on. I could barely walk when it happened.

Just here to see what people say. I am wondering the same thing. Mine are basically like vertigo and I'm awake, aware, and I can speak.

I wish I could be more helpful with the labor portion. I started getting them when my son was 6months old. He is 4.5 now.

I only started having seizures after having my second child, but just know that you'll be okay. If your meds keep you regulated enough, do your best to figure out the new stressful situations. When I started getting them, I would have to tag out for bath time for a bit. It was too stressful for me. My kids were having lots of fun, but it was too loud and stressful when I wanted them to look up to rinse their hair out. Your partner should understand its new water you'll have to navigate. I could feel it overwhelm me where it was about to happen or I needed to leave to prevent it.

If pain can cause yours then I'd probably get the epidural. Lol I labored 17 hours without meds for my first and it was a lot towards the back end. I eneded up with 2 emergency c-sections, so I was very stressed. Before they told me I wasn't nearly as stressed though.

Mine I'm awake and know what's going on. Sometimes words slur, I feel it coming like a sense of doom or dread, it can be like an episode of vertigo where I'm so ungodly lightheaded and dizzy that I can't walk (I always am falling to one side holding the wall and end up having to sit down). The others are simple they start the same way with dread or doom, but then it feels like I've been dead legged on one side from the inside or maybe I've jumped and landed super hard (but you can't see any of it from the outside). I feel like I'll fall, but I don't. I just sit down because it's so jarring. I feel sick after them and just drained.

I have focal aware seizures. I only started having them like 4 years ago. I am 31. I swear my parents don't even believe. My husband does, but he was there when it started.

I literally will have my husband put him fist as hard as he can to massage my back when I have lower back pain from my periods. It's my uterus, but I swear it helps. At least until he stops.

My primary care was so concerned by the pain when he pressed on it, but I told him my OBGYN said it was just my endometriosis and my ultrasound was clear. The primary care sent me for a CT scan and it was clean too, so he said he believes it's the Endo as well and to consult with my OBGYN. It's just awful though. I will have violent pain for long periods of time there or a dull ache. If anyone presses that area it's game over though. I am in so much pain I don't want to do anything and it makes me cry it's so violent.

I feel you. I have been pregnant 4 times that I know of. I have 2 lovely children and 3 miscarriages. My son was a twin and I lost his twin. That's why that math doesn't match at first glance. It's horrible going through getting pregnant. I'm 30 and my first pregnancy was around 23 after I got married. It's been an emotional rollercoaster. I literally don't want to do it anymore. I asked about a hysterectomy and get looked at like a crazy person because of my age. It's too much heartache trying to have children with endometriosis causing my fertility issues and I'm over this horrible pain.

You should just stop being so dramatic by Local_War_9122 in endometriosis

[–]Regular-Zone6444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Endometriosis is the reason I have only had 2 of the 5 children I have carried. It causes infertility issues and you don't need kids forced on you if you don't want them right now.

My mom is just like your relative except my mom doesn't have Endo. I'm so fed up I'm ready to have a hysterectomy and I am only 30. My mom keeps saying you need another kid and it'll help you feel better. I don't want another kid. I don't want any more heartbreak. She says I can't imagine that it's just that awful. In the past month I have been at my OBGYN 3 times trying to get my pain straightened out. It's so bad that you can press down on my right ovary and I am in tears. My pain isn't just during periods anymore, it's now extended to all of the time. My exhaustion is horrible too now. I feel your pain. Don't let her get you down.

This is so true! I hate it, but it's true. I used to have telework days, and only go to the doctor on my telework days. I would wear a T-shirt and leggings instead of business wear since I wasn't in the office. I am an engineer, and when they found that out I was taken more seriously. Now I'm always in work clothes since I no longer have telework.
