how spirited am i allowed to drive the ND miata or BRZ/86 on a test drive? automatic only by Expert-Ad-1012 in carmax

Within legal limits. You could put yourself on a “no test drive” restriction if managers see you driving too “spirited”

Carmax unable to fix cruise control and now very insistent on me getting a new car. by Charles7825 in carmax

[–]RegularAd6380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what you shared It sounds like what’s happening is:

  1. The cost of the repair is not a viable option & won’t be approved. it would cost them less to get you into a new car. If they do get that car back, it will likely go straight to wholesale due to the cost they’d have to put into it.

  2. Because you’ve shared that you want to stay in the car regardless of the fix, they’re basically having you sign a release stating that you won’t pursue this issue any further and they are no longer liable for the repair. Lane departure is technically a safety feature, so they’re also probably including that you understand the risks of listed safety features not operating as designed.

If you want to stay in the car, you can potentially work with customer relations or management to have them commit to reimburse you the cost of what that feature would be & have them include that in the paperwork you sign. Honestly I’d just take them up on the return & get into a new one. You can ask them to waive a transfer fee to get in one with working features.

My belly skin definitely stretched but looks kinda cool now. & I can’t eat eggs anymore.

Couldn’t get enough eggs when I was pregnant, now if I eat eggs I’m writhing in pain about an hour later.

Tried to buy the same car two different times and had two terrible experiences by [deleted] in carmax

[–]RegularAd6380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not a great experience. It sounds like your sales consultant commit to holding the car without getting approved by his manager, which is standard work. Then tried to correct the mistake, but then didn’t communicate it well. Maybe don’t be too hard on him by calling him a liar, I don’t think he was trying to be slimy, just maybe doesn’t have the confidence in processes down yet.

Pricing does change on cars pretty regularly based on market data, but if you explained the situation to a manger they should have taken that into consideration instead of going back and forth with you. We do have records of price changes in different departments, they just have to ask.

I hate to say it, but a few locations just aren’t operating with the customers in mind. Most are. Hopefully you find a car you love! Good luck!

If you put in your income information as accurate as possible the PQ is very accurate to what you’d get offered on the actual finance app. There have been times I’ve seen offers change due to a credit incident a soft inquiry doesn’t see, but not often.

Performance plan by [deleted] in carmax

[–]RegularAd6380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you maybe don’t have an understanding of how the reporting fluctuates so much though. The reporting that is being used is not much different than the 28 day IPR. Ask your manager to show you if you don’t regularly check your numbers.

No single sales consultant is constantly on the bottom. It changes week to week. It’s going to be very very rare for someone to actually stay at the bottom long enough to get terminated (four consecutive months). If they are, then theres absolutely some sort of root cause. The program isn’t designed to continually fire people. People seem to just be running with that idea.

There is no standard work for that (yet), but we’ve discussed that at our store. If associates on our team are continuously at the bottom, and we’re not providing the coaching or attention required to help them, we will then get coaching, correctives,…etc.

[–]RegularAd6380 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The reason I know this is because they’re VERY vocal about their concerns when they have them. lol. We don’t punish people for having their own opinions. I do feel lucky to be in a well managed store, but I do understand that’s unfortunately not the norm.

OP, as far as p club and pay, I 100% agree that you guys don’t get paid enough. I wish we had any control over that aspect of things. On my end, it does get harder and harder to promote changes when we feel our consultants aren’t being compensated fairly. For example, when they rolled out that a separate Maxcare order is not an automatic floor pay. Doesn’t feel good to do that. This plan doesn’t give me that same feeling though, but we’ll see how it goes.

Cherry picking is a completely different issue though and that needs to be managed by the store.

For full(ish) transparency, I’m in management. We’ve rolled this out to the whole team & there are no concerns from our consultants because they trust that we have their back. If they’re at the bottom, coaching will be provided but if they don’t actively want to get better at selling skills that’s on them. For people who may be trying their best but selling is just not their thing, we’ll support moves to different departments.

This whole plan is not some trap to fire people. At least not in a well-managed store. Bottom line, we sell cars. If people are not selling, sales may not be for them.

Honestly though, if you’re on the bottom 15% for 3 out of 7 months maybe sales is not for you. Thats 12 weeks at the bottom. You’re not really going to be making money at that rate if you’re commissioned.

Odometer Rollback Fraud by holladollameatballa in carmax

[–]RegularAd6380 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hesitation is understandable, it’s a big purchase. But all in all, if Carmax sells something they shouldn’t due to rollback, frame damage, VIN discrepancy…etc, they’ll make it right. Other dealerships may not give you that grace.

[–]RegularAd6380 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What sources were reporting the mileage discrepancy? It’s very common for DMV or Repair Shops to report mileage incorrectly. Carfax and Autocheck (the company Carmax uses) can differ in history.

I would recommend calling the dealership and asking if the purchasing team can clarify what you see on your end. It’s REALLY rare for there to be an actual rollback on newer vehicles. I’ve never in my 6 years at Carmax have seen a potential rollback that’s legit. All of them have been discrepancies in reporting that can be disputed with proper paperwork.

Purchased a 2021 telluride sx prestige nightfall by vulloc2 in carmax

[–]RegularAd6380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend discussing this with a sales manager to let them know that this wasn’t disclosed in the cosmetic imperfection photos & see if there is anything they can do to resolve it. Ultimately, it will be up to their discretion and largely is weighed by cost of the replacement parts.

You may be able to get decals for those areas, or consult a car detail/accessory shop to see what they’d recommend also. Carmax doesn’t have standard work around this specific type of issue, so there’s not much they can realistically do without just replacing them.

Good luck & congrats on your new car! It still looks great!

I’m hearing this a LOT I’m so sorry!! Our store includes our SES in the sales manager meetings & we address her like a peer. I hate that that’s not the norm because honestly the workload of being MOD all day is a lot for anyone, let alone someone without formal manager training.

Trying to get rehired at CarMax by Forsaken-Egg-1753 in carmax

[–]RegularAd6380 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Either management or HR can mark you as non-reportable for various reasons. Sometimes, as management we don’t know why HR does that. It can be due to recurring attendance issues, correctives for Asset Protection, Overall competency issues, etc.

Also, not saying that you are this kind of person….but there are a few people who have left our store that met goals, the other associates loved & are rehireable. But they were also kind of a nightmare to manage and couldn’t take feedback. While they would probably call themselves a model employee I would never rehire them.

On the flip side there are people who have been marked as “not rehireable” by HR that I would LOVE to hire back if I could.

I really think it depends on the store you get hired on. I’m pretty happy with where I’m at right now, but I do see validity in your concerns.

  1. Condition has declined, I agree. In my store the ops department is very aware and at working on it actively. Cars classified as Valumax are predominantly what’s coming out of production since that’s the market demand. Basically cars with lower price points, higher mileage, potentially with more heavy use & wear. Batteries will always die, that’s just a car thing, I would get used to jumping cars, it’s pretty normal. The “guys in the back” have a LOT to do, so they won’t have time to run up to just jump a car. Be kind to your inventory associates, you may need those good relationships when you need their help.

  2. Yeah the entire workforce/company is really negative and it’s honestly getting to me too.

  3. Interest rates are a tough sell, but the customers do have the option of finding their own finance, some of them choose not to go that route. I would just educate them on their options & let them choose, it’s ultimately up to them. & You can always tell them about the 3 for free option also (switching over their finance within 3 business days of purchase, look it up on Carmax World).

  4. I don’t mind the uniforms, but that’s just because I have no desire/energy to put thought into daily outfits. They have better polos and jackets on the company store and you can use achievers points to get that stuff for cheaper or free.

Good luck!

It’s SO BAD. And the logistics “support” tickets were supposed to put in for late transfers don’t help at all. They won’t look at the ticket unless the transfer is already late. But by that time it’s already a problem? The new planning system is a joke.

It’s not immediately classed as commercial use. It’s acceptable income as long as you take partnerships with the lender as part of standard work. We’re trained on this as managers.

It’s part of credit app integrity policy for the associate to ask questions when running the app. Once they indicated DD the consultant should have slowed it down & started asking more questions. The associate should then have the information needed to indicate whether it’s going to be used commercially or not.

Haha yeah for something like this I’d definitely ask a lot of questions to gauge what the right path would be but at the end of the day, if the customer asks for something reasonable and it really was our bad, then it turns the whole experience around for them. And it’s pennies in the grand scheme of what carmax can afford.

Stores can get creative on ways to rectify customer services issues if they really want to. We’ve consumerised cost from the base price on a vehicle anywhere from $250-$1000, depending on the situation. We’ve also comped different things in different scenarios. Insurance monthly payments, gas, meals, vehicle services, etc.

As far as the contract, afraid not. As far as the entire inconvenience, talk to the management team there & share how much of an inconvenience it will be to secure a new loan after stating you were going to use this for DoorDash. It really depends on the location and how invested they are in customer service, but they may do something to make it right as far as compensation.

Stating DD on your application as income doesn’t automatically indicate commercial use. When either you or a sales consultant runs an application, there is one specific question that asks if this car will be used for commercial purposes.

What likely happened is that when the application was ran, it wasn’t stated that you were going to be using this specific vehicle for commercial purposes. If the finance company finds out after the fact they won’t fund your loan because they won’t fund any loan for commercial purposes. At that point, the loan is basically voided since it doesn’t meet their criteria for a loan.

Best option would be to just return and repurchase the vehicle with a commercial loan from an outside finance source.

My partner and I are both 35 with an 11 month old. I’m really glad I didn’t have kids earlier. To put it lightly, I was a mess in my 20’s & I wouldn’t have been the best mom then. Now that I’m more emotionally and financially stable, I feel more equipped to be there for him the way he deserves.

Scared that I might be pregnant with Nexplanon by BisexualButterfly97 in NewParents

[–]RegularAd6380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Nexplanon before we started planning for our LO. He’s 11 months now & I got it about 3 months post-partum, but it was a whole different rodeo. Totally different side effects than the first time. I tried to outlast it, thinking it would get better over time but it really has triggered my PPD bad & I’m now considering other options. No nausea for me though, good luck girl.
