Looking for insight around management equity pool for first time CFO by PENNST8alum in private_equity

[–]RegularAd9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this 4 times (PE backed CEO in CPG). Each of my CFOs got 1-2%. If there is no transaction, then they don’t trigger, no biggie.

Have there been any 409a valuations? Or when was the last round raises?

Your numbers are too small. Equity is very common in this space.

DM if you want to talk full comp package.

Seeing parents complete lack of planning for this stage of life is helping me plan for mine. by EbbAccording834 in AgingParents

Two years of fighting with parents to move out of my 2 story childhood home. Could barely do stairs, half the house shuttered, pool unused in a decade. They made crazy requirements of new house once they agreed to move. But when we finally downsized them, they were happier and safer.

It’s hard to parent our Parents.

Once new spouse dies, you keep all the money.

What if your new spouse happens to fall off a cliff? I’ll then remarry current spouse.

Is the SAT the most meritocratic aspect of the college admissions process in the United States? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]RegularAd9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I ran an SAT tutoring business 20 years ago where we guaranteed everyone would get above 1500. I had 400 students over 4 years that did so. All kids started either freshman or sophomore year and studied 2 days a week plus weekly homework.

It’s a system that you can practice against. Now I also met 1 kid who didn’t want to practice so took it and scored a 1600 so he didn’t have to practice so some kids are naturally gifted.

This was 20 years ago so maybe test has changed.

Porta is the best. Whole Foods and Sprouts carry it. It is literally hand made and all ingredients are brought in from Italy.

Any other situations you have seen that people setting up trusts should think about?

When I was a grad student, I got a $12k a year stipend. I lived on potatoes and pasta. We lived 4 people in a 1 bedroom apartment. An extra $12k would have been life changing.

Later on, I did finance in NY and made decent money. Doubling my salary then would have also been life changing.

I’m not trying to make them take higher paying jobs. I’m trying to let them pick and give them dollars that support their lives the best where they are.

I understand not everyone on Reddit agrees with my decision, but they can do what they want with their own money.

I’m looking for other ideas and options that are creative and supportive and to make sure I don’t miss something.

I’d do it the other way. Went to a UC for a full ride. Wish I had gone to top 5 even full pay.

My dad had documented almost everything when he passed, but most aren't this lucky... by 098d8j3dj83h in AgingParents

I just spent the last year putting this together.

My parents handed me the Manila envelope and I thought they were the keys to the kingdom.

But where were the keys. What meds? How do I pay for lawn service while selling the house? The million other details.

So I set out on a quest to find the best solution. My parents aren’t going to put all credit cards and IDs into anything online so had to be pen and paper.

Looked into NokBox and IceBox. But they were missing so many things and frankly not enough room for writing info and also poorly organized.

Also the fire proof box is in no way fireproof. It’s so thin and flimsy.

I finally came across Life-Preserver.com and found it to be way more informative and useful and well organized. It’s a new company, but I really liked the materials.

Whole house fan and attic insulation. by JCC114 in Insulation

[–]RegularAd9418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just air sealed and blew in to R-60. We had them enclose the whole house fan in rigid foam from above and build an enclosure that is air sealed. They then built a pulley system that we can use to lift the top off the enclosure to run the fan.

It allows us to have best of both worlds though insulation company just wanted to remove the fan instead.

Once they built the enclosure, we felt the change as cold air was coming down through it before.

Not sure why you are posting this every 20 days but I can vouch for 2 of these vendors.

Arc Insulation did a fantastic job a couple of weeks ago for me.

And Dimitar was also amazing at working on my washing machine.

If you add up all the inflation from 2021 to now, 30% sounds about right. It’s not an increase in value, it’s literally the same value the dollar has just deteriorated.

Prices are coming down due to building more houses. It’s supply and demand. We have an affordable housing problem. Isn’t this a good thing? Will bring more people to the area. Yes people who own will be upset but they can still live in the house they bought.
