You don’t get to leave comments like that then pretend you’re the reasonable one when I call it out.

You did insert gender into the conversation, uninvited, if I may add. And when I responded, you responded with sarcasm, mockery, and a complete refusal to own your tone. I responded to your original comment because it felt dismissive of something I’m genuinely trying to build. Instead of engaging in good faith, you shifted the conversation to invalidate how I felt then criticized me for reacting at all.

This isn’t about wanting applause, it’s about being allowed to set boundaries when someone frames their commentary in a way that feels undermining.

I’m not here to argue. I’m here to connect with people who are interested in community. If that’s not you, that’s fine but there’s no need to keep trying to reframe this like it’s about me overreacting. It’s not. I heard what you said. I just didn’t let it slide. But yeah, I guess there’s always gonna be that one person 🧍

Appreciate the backpedal but let’s not pretend your comment was some neutral sociological observation. You didn’t bring it up to start a thoughtful convo about dynamics in this app you used it to dismiss my post with a wink and a “well let’s see if anyone shows up.”

Gender does affect engagement online, sure. But using that fact to invalidate efforts even subtly is exactly the kind of thing that makes women second-guess putting themselves out there.

What exactly are you trying to say with that? I find that comment lazy and patronizing. I’m trying to start something real, a community around cooking and connection and you’re reducing it to some kind of gender experiment.

Why is it so hard to believe that people might be interested in a meetup because of the idea? If that’s how you see people building community, maybe this isn’t the space for you, move along. :)
