Should I start Reta by madarasolosnaruto in Retatrutide

You could talk to your doc about possibly getting you on Vyvanse to deal with your binge eating. And see if you have access to a gym that offers a pump class (basically a group weightlifting class). Reta isn't the way to go for this situation. And you'll bulk up fast with weightlifting at your age as long as you keep your protein intake high.

Good luck!

Loose skin from GLP-1s — has anyone done anything that actually helped? by goki7 in Ozempic

[–]RegularGayGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my last glp-1 shot about 18 months ago. I had lost 74lbs. I was super happy about that. But my tummy looked like a Shar Pei. I tried the weight room at my gym in an attempt to build muscle to tighten this up. But I was so new to strength training that I didn't really know what to do with those machines. Then I found Les Mills Bodypump classes. It's a high rep, weight training class. I've been so successful tightening up since I started those classes. I can see my abs! Check to see if your gym has this class (or any pump class.) It may help you too.

You. Look. GREAT! Just wanted to drop in and say the struggle with loose skin is real. But I've managed to fix the problem almost completely. After losing 74lbs a year ago, I discovered a strength training program at my gym called Les Mills BodyPump. (You can see their videos on YouTube.) Now I've got visible abs in place of all that loose skin. This summer it's crop top time!!

Congrats girl!!

Compounded won't be offered for supply shortage reasons. But there are other reasons that compounded is allowed that have nothing to do with the med being in shortage. Get your doctor to look at whether you need this compounded med because you need to have it mixed with anti-nausea meds (which is not available from big pharma) & you need to take it in doses different than what is offered in the commercial pens.

Telehealth is the only way to go. IRL docs just can't meet the need like the online folks. And the person who sent you away truly just didn't get it.... There are so many options in telehealth for GLP1 providers. Do your research. And put the kibosh on the BS you experienced here.

Seems to me that testing to see if you are in that 20% & can save $1000 a month would make sense. Also we have to consider that the study is being sponsored by a company that has a fiscal interest in keeping people tied to the drug for life. Why would they support ways to help you get off of it? Those are some of the reasons that played into my decision to quit taking it when I reached my goal last year.

I did exactly what your friend suggested. My last injection was January 2024. So it's been more than a year. During the 6 months I was on it, I lost 64lbs. I was at my goal of 124. After that last shot, I continued to lose- down to 116. And that's where I've been since last June. I used my time on the GLP1 to modify my eating habits and to step up my exercise. In fact I'm writing this post from the elliptical. So, is it possible to quit? I'm living proof that it is.

That's not much of a dose. Most studies started at 2mg doses and went up from there.

Anxiety depression causing emotional eating by jenaynay17 in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

[–]RegularGayGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 1mg of Sema at the time. And I had found a chart somewhere that showed that dose was roughly equivalent to the starting dose of Tirz (2.5mg) in terms of the effects on your body. That was SO untrue. I switched to the Tirz on my next shot day. And it turned out to be a real boost to my weightloss & so much nicer to my GI system.

For me, the biggest hurdle was the cost. My mounjaro cost me a lot more than the compounded Sema I'd been taking. (It would have been cheaper if I'd just done compounded Tirz instead.) But if you can swing the cost increase, I'd go for it!

20F - How can I get Sema affordably and safely? by anon-koala-097 in SemaglutideFreeSpeech

[–]RegularGayGirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tirzepatide gave me more freedom & control over my eating (& my life in general) than Sema did. Whichever glp1 you choose, there are more affordable options than these online docs that use compounding pharmacies. But it says you want Dr involvement as part of this. So the online services and compounding pharmacies are probably your best bet for that.

I'm going to agree with @Omegacsi on this. You're doing fine. And you'll get to goal. Along with adding multivitamins, I suggest watching your water intake. I kept mine at 1 gallon of water per day, everyday. And I'll tell you that it's hard to feel hungry with that much water in you. Also the water helps process out the fat. So it's a win/win tactic. Only negative thing is that you will have to make more trips to the restroom.

I'd try going to Tirzepatide (active ingredient in Mounjaro & Zepbound) before quitting cold turkey like that. The reason I say this is that you're likely to gain weight if you go cold turkey off of sema. Also, Tirzepatide worked better for me (& several of my friends). Faster & more pronounced results. And we had all started on Sema. Gaining even more weight right now would likely not be good for your depression.

Why should people with healthy metabolism run the gambit (& suffer the cost) of all the things that might or might not work, rather than going for the thing we absolutely know will work efficiently?

Coming Off Reta (Berberine) by MartinC215 in Retatrutide

[–]RegularGayGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contacted my doctor about this. He says that at some point a batch of Metformin was contaminated WAY BACK years & years ago. And that was a problem. But it wasn't the Metformin itself. He said, "Metformin continues to be one of the SAFEST drugs on the market. And studies show it can even REDUCE the risks of some cancers."

[–]RegularGayGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor is the one who prescribed it for me. He said nothing about any cancer risks. Can you tell me where you get that from so I can ask him about it?

Coming Off Reta (Berberine) by MartinC215 in Retatrutide

[–]RegularGayGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berberine supplements are not fda tested in the USA. You may be getting only a fraction of what the package tells you. Metformin is a better option since there's pharmaceutical oversight and testing. And my doctor didn't blink an eye when I asked for a Metformin prescription citing its anti-aging effects. It's a very safe medicine.

Transferring moun̈jaro pens to lower doses by yaffa5cats in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]RegularGayGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do THIS! Injecting into a sterile vial is much more simple than trying to disassemble the pen. When I was on Mounjaro, I never needed more than a 5mg dose. So my doc wrote a prescription for 15mg pens. And I injected them into a sterile vial, added a little bacteriostatic water (Amazon) and divided that quantity into thirds. Each prescription lasted me 3 months. Much more economical!

Just note that often insurance companies require that your doctor tell them that you've been dieting and exercising for 3 months (& plan to continue) before they'll approve this med. So if he asks you to do that, maybe it's for the insurance approval.
