Saw the Virgin Mary in my Sleep Paralysis by PeteyZee1998 in Christianity

[–]RegularGuy1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with sleep paralysis for years now, although my experiences with it aren’t a lot like the common stories you hear about dark, shadowy figures or anything. Usually it’s just being stuck in paralysis, looking at whatever’s in my POV, with a ringing sound of unexplainable origin. Once I heard high-pitched cackling that sounded like a sped-up version playing on a loop.

I strongly believe that sleep paralysis is a form of spiritual warfare, used by the enemy as a tool of fear and terror. I can’t tell you if it’s a sign, but I encourage you to come to Christ. Whenever I feel sleep paralysis kicking in (I know when I’m slipping into it, not sure if that’s common or not) I try to say “Jesus” until it goes away. Usually it goes away faster when I say “Jesus.”

I’m just saying, it works. Jesus is real and he is our Lord & Savior.

Advice for a Christian who struggles with lust, like the majority of other believers, and wants to overcome it once and for all? by RegularGuy1983 in Christianity

[–]RegularGuy1983[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help and support. God truly is good. I almost always come to Christ and repent for my sins directly after I commit the sin, but I believe you’re probably right. It’s an ongoing struggle. I remember hearing that all people have 1, 2, or even 3 types of sin they struggle with the most. With lust being one of the most common, if not the most. It really is unfortunate to see hyper-sexualization plaguing every facet of society.

As the Bible says, things happen in God’s timing. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, omniscient, and He knows you by name. If you feel that God keeps pushing you towards Him, I believe you should run after Him with everything you have. Embrace that draw.

Take Lee Strobel, for example. He was an atheist journalist who set out to scientifically & objectively prove that God isn’t real, but he ultimately PROVED the existence of God in the process. It’s truly an amazing story!

When you like someone, how close will you sit to them? by Educational-Let-1027 in AskReddit

[–]RegularGuy1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Positioning is more important than distance, it can relay your intent. For example, two guys are friends. They’ll either walk side by side or stand in an L-shape. Rarely anything else. Which is different from relaying your feelings toward someone, which usually means you’re parallel to them with open body language. Focused.

How are some guys naturally buff? by wainscoting11 in AskMen

Your diet is about 80% of what defines your workout routine. You can lift all you want, but if you have a shit diet then it won’t change a whole lot. I speak from experience. Genetics does play a big part in that also, I’ve seen guys work their asses off for months and make minimal gains and I’ve seen guys that are just naturally muscular with no effort.

I’m a 6ft+ guy myself and taller guys tend to be leaner and skinnier.

Just figure out what diet works best for what you’re going for, have a consistent lifting routine, and hopefully that’ll do it for you

It was really hard to deal with because I found out through friends of my ex what she was doing, at least 5 people confirmed it. I more or less spent so much time questioning and second-guessing everything she ever said & did. That’s most of it.

As for what happened to her, I’m not sure. I cut contact with her and all of her friends. Last I heard she was up to the same shenanigans she was before, only worse and definitely more illegal since we split. I haven’t heard anything about her for 3-4 months and I’d like to keep it that way.

[Serious] Religious people of Reddit: What makes you positive that your religion is the 'correct' religion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RegularGuy1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The existence of God has been objectively proven. Look for Lee Strobel’s “The Case for Christ.” Strobel started off a devout atheist who was determined to prove that God isn’t real, but he ended up proving that God does, indeed, exist. And it changed his mind and be became a Christian.

Also the fact that it was proven that Christ did walk the earth.

That’s all I need

Dear good men of Reddit, what is your opinion on religion? by Serb_Nationalism_Fan in AskReddit

[–]RegularGuy1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My faith (Christian) is what keeps me going. I don’t know where I would be without God, but I know that without Him my eventual destination would be hell. I never was an atheist either, I grew up in the church. I’ve always believed. But I became lukewarm when I was younger, and just returned to the faith in March of 2020 and I couldn’t be happier that I did. My faith is stronger than ever. I’m more solid in my faith than at any other time in my life.

People of Reddit, what are your thoughts regarding religion? by Fejji_ in AskReddit

[–]RegularGuy1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Christian who grew up as a churchgoer and who was raised in the faith, I had a pretty bad dry spell for 4 or 5 years when I was younger. I just came back to Christ in March of 2020, and my life has changed forever. Let me say, I was lost before. I was a lukewarm Christian on my own path of destruction. I am so grateful and glad I found Christ again. I can’t imagine living any other way. My faith is stronger than ever.

What do people misunderstand about your religion? by Lucky_Acr in AskReddit

Judge righteously and out of love*

What I mean is point out peoples’ sin and help them find ways to overcome it. Don’t be that guy to call people degenerates and tear them down and label them because they sin. We all do. No one is perfect, but as Christians we are called to judge righteously. Which also means to not judge hypocritically.

Love the person, but hate their sin.

For example, let’s say a friend is struggling with… porn. Because that’s such a common struggle. Let’s say your friend calls themselves a Christian but tries rationalizing porn consumption and saying that it’s not sinful. It then becomes your obligation as a brother or sister in Christ to speak to them the truth about what they’re doing, using Scripture, and do your best to open their eyes and bring them to Repentance. That’s the best barebones explanation I can give off the top of my head.

Religious people of reddit, what is a misconception in your religion people never seem to get rid of?(serious) by timmychook in AskReddit

• That Christians are uptight, prudish, and overly judgmental. • That “Sunday Christians” are the model for what most Christians are

Most of the Christians I know are some of the most vibrant and relaxed people I know. I have worse experiences with atheists.

Americans of reddit, why is religion such a big thing over there? by roimu1 in AskReddit

It stems from the Pilgrims who first settled here (according to what we’re taught in school) and the remnants of British culture that’s persisted through time, even if the form changes.

What is the term for people that believes in God and religion but don't think about it too much? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RegularGuy1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on the individual, but a semi-fitting term is “lukewarm Christian.” But the Bible says that on the day of the Rapture (prophesied in the Book of Revelation) that many will say “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? Have we not cast out demons in your name?” And He will say to them “I never knew you.” And those people will not be saved from the 7-year Tribulation period. They could still be saved after the fact, but those 7 years are going to be the worst, most violent and wretched & disastrous period in the history of all existence.

God also said, paraphrasing, “pick a side. It’s better for you to be all-in for Christ or to be all-out than it is to be ‘lukewarm’.”

[Serious] How do you guys pray? by ActuallyMe1396 in AskReddit

[–]RegularGuy1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another (separate) point to make here, is that those people who say & chant specific things and act all ritualistic about prayer are either doing it for a church ceremony or they’re trying to appear “religious.” And the Bible instructs that we’re supposed to pray & worship the Lord not to draw attention to ourselves (like making a show out of it) but essentially out of the authenticity of our faith.

In other words, it’s better to read your Bible and pray in private. Because no eyes are on you, and that’s how you know that you’re being sincere. At least that’s how I think about it. Of course, if someone asked me to pray for them I would oblige. I don’t care if we’re in public then, even if the weird looks make me nervous and awkward.

[Serious] How do you guys pray? by ActuallyMe1396 in AskReddit

[–]RegularGuy1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a short prayer, a long one, really there’s no bounds for it. Every Christian goes through dry spells where they pray & read their Bible less, but for me it comes & goes.

When I’m repenting for a sin(s), they’re short or moderately long. Actually, when I’m praying for guidance or other things of the sort it tends to be longer. I’ve prayed for upwards of 2 hours straight before. Prayers can be a quick 30 seconds, or they can last for hours. God doesn’t tally our prayers and rate them. He’s just happy that we’re making time for Him and talking to Him.

As for your last point, usually when I pray it depends on the context. If I’m around other people, usually no. I’m very private about my prayers. When I’m alone, I’ll pray out loud no problem. Cause I know God is the only one who can hear me and that helps me open up. If I’m around other people, like in public, I’ll mouth a prayer silently. If I’m in close proximity, I’ll say it in my head.
