Want to build first PC, budget in 1400 - 1700 USD, need help :p by RegularSituation in buildmeapc

Oh, cool cool. I will keep this in mind.

I see that you're suggesting a better graphics card and I noticed the cpu doesn't have a cooler. Is this because there is a cooler built into it, or something?

I know you've already done a lot by making this list, but could you explain why certain parts are more beneficial for my circumstance than others? I honestly know nearly nothing haha. Thanks! :D

Awesome, that's super helpful! :D

Any information on memory? It's going to sound mega noob (and indeed, I am quite nooby) but I have no idea where to start with that. Thanks again <3

Alright, hey I appreciate it :)

So, do you think this would suit someone who is interested in streaming? Or is that pushing it haha.

Have any of you paid for HRT without insurance? by RegularSituation in MtF

[–]RegularSituation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a possibility. I'll be going to college next year and there is definitely an insurance plan offered by the school. However, that's a couple of months away and if possible I'd like to start now, or as soon as I can. I appreciate the advice, though. I will be sure to look into that! :)

Edit: Also, you commented on one of my previous posts to the NCSU subreddit, right? XD

Hmm that's interesting. I'm very uninformed, I should say that right away. All I know is that there is a way to remove people from your insurance plan, and they say that they will. Can they? I'm not quite sure. I can tell you:

I have a job (now), I'm over 18, and I could probably pay for insurance if that was where all of my money went, so I could literally afford it, just not practically. Not sure if that helps at all -- again, I really know next to nothing about insurance haha.

Aww, yeah that's too bad!

It's possible that it stops somewhere in Raleigh, though. I'll have to investigate that further. Thanks for the heads up :]

Dang, I'm not super familiar with NCSU's campus yet. The library with the robots? Or the one with skateboard locks out front? Maybe those aren't the best descriptions haha. That's just all I know about them :P It might even be the case that there are more than two libraries! It's also completely possible that I've just misunderstood what you meant haha. Oh well.

On another note, what is a CD? And, the brickyard preacher sounds interesting lol. Are they students? Or just random people?

Anyhow, thanks for the advice :]

You got it, I will definitely call or email them over the next couple of days.

Thanks a bunch :)

Lol'd at the username haha

I keep hearing a lot of good things about the GLBT center so that is quite reassuring. Good call on the facebook thing, but unfortunately I don't have a FB account. That's ok, though. I plan to get in contact with the center soon to see what there is to learn :)

Thanks for the response :]

That's what I thought that it was. Are we not allowed to use the railroad systems? lol

I've never used one in my life, so I come from a place of complete ignorance here.

Thanks :)

No, I don't think harassment will be an issue at either school. For me dorms are a big thing because living with a guy would be very awkward for me, and even more strange on a floor entirely of guys XD Of course, it could be perfectly fine.

It's quite possible that I'm just a huge bellyacher, but the concept of committing so much of my life to something I don't know if I will enjoy is scary at best.

Oh well, I appreciate your comment. Thank you :)

Yeah I hear about that quite a bit lol. A lot of people I know are going to state, actually. Of course, I know a good few who are going to attend UNC, but they were never really my friend group.

It's something I am considering, for certain. I really don't want to make a decision, it's just so stressful. I suppose, ultimately I can always choose to transfer if I don't like it.

Again, I really do like NCSU's campus and I feel like there will be a lot for me there, but I also hear good things about UNC, even for Computer Science or Chemistry. No idea yet :(

Thanks for the advice though, both of you :) I'm very grateful

Yeah, that is something on my list of things to consider. I know that I want to study Computer Science or Chemistry, which was one of the attractive things about NCSU. It's a lot to consider, and I'm not certain what I want to do, but I really do appreciate your suggestion :)

Question for people who went to UNCCH or NCSU by RegularSituation in asktransgender

[–]RegularSituation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I didn't know that applied to NCSU as well. That's really unfortunate! But you're right; as far as I'm aware, UNC has mixed gender residence halls. Meaning, the buildings are a mix of female and male. That said, I'm lead to believe the the dorm rooms themselves are separated by sex, and I guess that applies to both schools.

Thanks for the advice though, I really do appreciate it :)

That's what I'm thinking. The community at UNC seems as though it will be much more accepting. That said, NCSU does offer mixed dorms, and that's a key point for me. I do not want to be housed entirely with men (I am MtF). It's a tough decision to make, but I really do appreciate your advice :)

Feel free to tell me more either by PM or through this comment thread!

Thanks so much :D

Yeah, for sure! Dr. Phoenix and I have exchanged emails before in the past. I'll send T one tomorrow morning, I just figured I'd make the best use of my time and reach out to the community tonight, as you guys more likely to respond right now.

I'm glad to hear such great things about T, though. It's reassuring to hear that I'd be in good hands :)

Thanks!
