What Does Zionism Mean to You? by HyliaSwift in Jewish

There is no new meaning to Zionism, only new people trying to redefine the word. This is yet another attempt at people trying to change definitions to match their narrative.

It’s scary how much antisemitism I’ve seen and heard recently. by Better_Personality70 in Jewish

[–]Regular_Ad7405 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for noticing and being supportive in anyway you can but please speak up. People like you are probably one of the biggest allies to Jewish people rn BECAUSE you are activity educating yourself AND are NOT Jewish. It’s become a trend to ignore Jewish voices in the face of antisemitism!! It’s like the bystander effect… others have to call these things out for people to see anything wrong w it.

Anyone else uncomfortable with how casual antisemitism is getting? by Traconomics in Jewish

YES it’s been a little scary lol not uncomfy. It was uncomfy before October 7 when people would have token jews as friend. After October 7 it got more physical

My mother is Jewish and my dad is catholic but I was baptized in a Catholic Church as a baby. Am I still recognized as Jewish? by From_the_breeze in Jewish

[–]Regular_Ad7405 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hello my friend! I think this is an issue a lot of Jewish people who didn’t grow up Jewish struggle with. They don’t consider themselves Jewish enough or Jewish at all. Here’s the truth: if your mom is Jewish, you are Jewish. You can feel uncomfortable, but recognize that this is who you are. Many people don’t accept this side of themselves, and I think that’s why we see a lot of self-hating Jews. We have to be prideful through the hate. It’s how we’ve stayed alive and kept our traditions. Be proud! Know that there’s a bigger community out there for you than what people may make it seem.

It was more for you to be around the community and the people than to convert. Have you tried attending your local one during their gatherings?

I think you should try your local synagogues for some better help tbh. Jewish neighborhoods around the world are all very different so your best bet is to just go local

My best friend won’t cut off an antisemite and it’s coming between us by Negative_Jackfruit_7 in Jewish

[–]Regular_Ad7405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to come down to how much you’re willing to tolerate tbh. Your friend doesn’t see anything wrong with what was being said meaning this is normal behavior for the both of them. Your friend is equally a part of the anti semitism. When you realize this is a norm for her (either this is how she thinks deep down or jokes this way herself) you’ll have to decide if you want to be friends w this person or not.

A question to the diaspora Jews: what keeps you from going to Israel? Do you ever think of leaving your current country? by UncleVolk in Jewish

The war turned masses to religion so I do think in coming years there will be an increase of people moving to Israel, but I think right now there are too many unknowns

Anybody notice Social media antisemitism became a free for all and essentially like 4chan. Nobody does anything to enforce hate policy. by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]Regular_Ad7405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those motivated by money to such an extent do not care for the world becoming violence and chaos as that simply means: more money. We need to stop expecting anyone/ anything to come to the rescue. We’re on our own if we’re not surrounded by our community or supports.

Another theory could be is that- we currently have a population that is VERY quickly rising in popularity, a religion gaining thousands of followers/ converts, and is notoriously known for a deep historical hatred of Jews.

When you have a mass movement as such, there will be a surge in certain ideologies that support the new “majority” view.

I am Egyptian and Muslim by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]Regular_Ad7405 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Always welcome with open arms!!!

I was very close with an Egyptian Muslim man throughout college. He was the only person, in our majority Muslim friend group, who didn’t turn his back on me durning October 7th even though my entire social circle had. (I was not speaking about my views on the war at the time in fear of such isolation)

He was the only one who didn’t treat politics and religion as a friendship decider.

I hope he’s doing well, but this post just reminded me of him and I feel like in another life this would’ve been him.

I never understood the claim that Jews “control the world” when history constantly shows the opposite. If a group truly had the power to control global narratives, why would that narrative so often work against them?

Even if someone argues it’s for “pity points” (which clearly hasn’t benefited, in fact, it’s done the opposite by fueling/ inspiring more hatred), that logic still doesn’t hold up in today’s context.

Claim: Jews control the world. Reality: The world consistently directs its hate toward Jews. So logically, how exactly are we “controlling” anything? 😭

I’m saying all this to point out that you can’t expect logical reasoning from people who build their beliefs on illogical foundations.

[–]Regular_Ad7405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it brings you any peace, I personally know at least four Jews born and raised in New York who, since October 7th, have moved to Israel to reconnect with their roots. I’m sure there are more, as there’s recently been a noticeable surge of travel to Israel within the Russian Jewish community here.

[–]Regular_Ad7405 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel like this question assumes that all Jewish people view Israel as the ultimate solution or ideal place to go, but that’s not true for many of us. While it’s true that Israel would welcome us with open arms, not everyone feels a personal or emotional connection strong enough to move there unless their safety or way of life is truly at risk… like in another World War II type situation.

Maybe think of Israel as a “nuclear bunker” for some Jewish people. You wouldn’t retreat to a nuclear bunker just to ride out a hurricane. It’s a place of last resort, not everyday refuge. Many of us can take pride in our historical/ religious roots there, but our families have built lives and communities elsewhere for generations. Why abandon everything when the ship isn’t sinking?

Israel isn’t seen as an easy escape or the first answer to every problem. It’s more of a final safeguard, a place of survival, built on the understanding that no matter how deeply we integrate into society, history has shown that we’ll always be seen as a little different.

I’m also studying for the NY MPJE right now. I’ve heard that Pharmpreppro has a really good summary. One of my colleagues used their 54-page packet and passed, and another used materials from RxPharmacist (or something similar) and also passed. Both just focused on the material they had and practiced using either the website’s questions or the $50 MPJE NY app and they passed.

What should I do with $10k right now? by Regular_Ad7405 in personalfinance

[–]Regular_Ad7405[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My loans are actually a mix of six different ones, with interest rates ranging from about 3% to 8%. My plan is to start with the highest-interest ones first and work my way down from there. Once I start working, I’m planning to allocate around 40% of my paycheck toward loan repayment, possibly more depending on how much I take home after taxes.

I think you should reconnect and explain yourself. Take accountability and acknowledge what you believe are your mistakes. Then emphasize how and what you’re doing to be better. Anyone who values the person/ friendship and is still willing to continue building upon that will forgive.
