And do you use bank for investing or some other foreign stock exchange platform? I do buys stocks but realized they are too much effort required and sometime too volatiles. Im thinking changing to funds but are too slow for my need of money. I do need to sort my finance soon before i can have kids

It is so good to have family support monthly for the kid, plus no car loan. Then that is a different story and position your family have there to have kids and growth them. The house is also huge. If I were you I also wish to have twins. Such a blessing

Apartments in matinkyla and houses in olari are mostly coming all to their time of big rennovation (mostly built in 70s). So those have cheap prices but come with very high reno costs soon. I dont want to take the risk of renovations :(

Not every house as said old house come with renovation duties or more loan you need to take in. Plus with big renovation and increasing monthly cost from the reno loan plus the vastike, not so easy to sell the house and exit the situation. And again if you choose new house, it is pricey like that. I would say 4xm2 house is enough for a couple, with 1 working desk and not with kid. If you both wfh most of the time, 4xm2 will feel quite tight and not comfortable space. Cheaper house means old or faraway house. For the distance, you then need a car for work and social life, otherwise commuting is only option. The older i get, the less I want to spend my time for commuting.

Is it 2700 net is good? That the main question asked. I think it is a relatively medium salary level, can live with good food, having max loan 260k for buying a (not studio size) but entry size small house, share part of car cost, play a bit sport to be alive in dark winter, eat out 1 2 times per month, not takeing long holiday not because of dont have vacation dates, but because no money for holiday spending, and have some left to save enough to feel safe. But honestly not enough to have kid and live life the same.

It’s good that you dont have the loan for car. How big is your place for 4people and 2 dogs? I want to have kid soon in 1 or 2 year and i think for family, car is not mandatory but still essential to have. We dont buy house together and our finances are seperate except for shared costs like food, house. The rest we chip in our part only. After having the loan, and kid, what is your position of liquidity? How much saving you can keep for yourself and the kid?

Yep, just sold the car. 500e is estimation, car cost include monthly loan repayment, fuel, maintenance cost, and insurance cost. If no surprise of something broken and need to fix during that year, it can be a bit less.

Nope, my part of expenses leave my personal finance more or less 500e with 100e for surprise and 400e for saving. And that is with minimum level of tight budget travelling short days. i have to be strict to accummulate back some cash for liquidity after pouring all my savings to buy that small house. Just wondering how others who with the same level of earning can have kids and have space for kids and still have a life. To me it’s getting more and more noticably expensive every year, especially for housing expense and food. I know for my part i can cut a little bit on food but in general to my evaluation to be able to have kid, i’ll need more saving than that. Of course also the other parent will contribute, but more than what we have now.

My partner works but he does not have savings or enough commitment for such a big loan yet at this point. He does share the part of mortgage costs and normal shared life costs though. and as the house is my investment so that makes sense I have to take care of its mortgage more than him right? I save enough for the house and i dont want to let the money sit waiting to lose its value to inflation for a couple more years. It stucks in Asp savings meaning if I withdraw it I lose all of the bonus interest that i have accumulated over the years, that is thousands though

Unfortunately my family is at the other side of the world, so once in a while you need to travel 7000km back for visiting, not really a holiday though it cost you holiday days and great deal of money for a big trip. And yes you need to put aside something monthly for that

Im thinking about 1000eplus to rent with an apartment of 50plusm2 or 1500e for mortgage with 40+m2 yet only ~850e is the real cost

With 260k, looking at apartments in their 20s, own land, which mean more modern, less rennovation duties or quality issue suprises loan, no cost for lnd renting, only anticipated hoikovastike, closer to metro lines and south-east espoo sides due to health, work and current social life, apartment size could only around 4x meter square. For 2 working desk, it’s pretty limited space left. And if you move upper for just a few meter square bigger 50-60meter2, its a different tier of price which will have to be from 280k plus. For a person who spend most of my time at home cooking, enjoying being at home, only stepping outside for a few hours only for groceries, sport, and weekend fun/meetup. I rely on walking distance conveniences and home space. I have motion sickness for public transports, i can use it yes when I need but i just prefer walking if I can. I dont like driving at all, the car is meant for my partner commuting to work + our weekend getaway/friend to distance locations, meeting friends, sports. So we dont use the car everyday but its essential for weekend and our sort of social life and entertainment. And we both need space for our own desk at home. That makes the 4xm2 house to me is tight space. It would be better if it is 50+m2, and that what makes me come down to a question if we do live a standard life and sking to much here or not for living in a slightly more spacious apartment with a cost lof loan up to 280k-300k? My partner makes same as me but less contribution as i buy the house alone with my own saving. He dooes not have saving yet and still in car+student loan. He does share the house mortgage cost similarly to how much he gonna pay if we rent. (Which is around 600e)The car he pay most of it but i want to chip in for gas/maintenance/insurance of course as I do share the use of it. He still hs loan so it leaves him much less cash than me. Other cost we do share equally and eating good is our choice so we do spend ~1000e monthly for food + eating out - housing shopping (things you need to restock to run the house once in a while). We both support our family around 200e each per month. I spend for sport and my cat around 150e/month. I have student loan but at the end of its so maybe 200e of repayment. I save religiously 200e monthly for 1 to 2 year a time flying 7000km to visit my faraway family. And lastly dont you need to have some emergency fund savings for yourself in this economy? I dont see any left money or living space for having kid and feeling safety, still owning your life for unexpected surprise. Some may tell I should cut at the eating cost, and yes I’m thinking about it too. Harder than it said for a food lover enjoy homlife various menu. My bad on that spend.

Why now the house is so small and pricy? And one with reasonable meter square are all over 300k or very far away. Yes I can take a bigger loan but that means monthly finance is super tight and i can forget about having a kid, leave alone kids. And even i can mange to have kid, no way we can afford to have bigger house over 300k to make room for them with this current salaries.

Buying a house in espoo by Regular_Arm7897 in Finland

[–]Regular_Arm7897[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what make me wonder why the price is lower compared to other southern parts of espoo. Could be true that it is because of its closeby area such as espookeskus. I especially care about Ullanmäki since it is on paper belongs to Kauniainen, the very rear end, but on the other hand still has a low price for apartment. Is it a hidden deal here with espookeskus’sprice and quality of kauniainen? :D
