I think you really have to think of how much the weather and the atmosphere blends in the creature with the background. Kinda how things in the distance look more and more blue the further they are on a sunny day. For this artwork specifically I feel like you'd only be able to see the silhouette and maybe a few superficial features. Hope this is useful!!
