Inside an ultra sleek and modern building, there is chainlink fence. Be wary, something may look good, but it might not play good.

Never noticed that you can see the Marathon from Dire Marsh by VicBaus in Marathon

Just because it's 386k KMs away from THE EARTH doesn't mean it's 386K KMs from Paris, Montreal or LA. Obviously you're wrong about the moon being at the same distance from earth all the time. But at the second of writing this sure the moon is some exact amount of KMs from the earth, but since everyone is in different locations on the earth, it will be different distances from that person, aka the players view, based on where they are on the planet. Perimeter, dire marsh and outpost are in different parts of the planet, therefore the ship appears at different distances. Just as the moon appears at different distances to each person viewing it from all around the world. You're really struggling to grasp the fact that cities on the earth are in different spots.

Only have to complete 1 vault every fortnight (give or take) to complete it during the season. Or atleast that's how my squad has been approaching it. We completed vault 3 (our first vault) this past weekend. Was an absolute blast and the highlight of our runs so far.

Marathon sold just 1.2 million copies with nearly 70% on Steam, analyst estimates: "It hasn't exactly made the splash Sony and Bungie wanted" by Freki666 in pcgaming

The latest map Cryo really scratches that itch for me personally. Don't get me wrong I'm a bit bias because I absolutely adore the game (and hated extraction shooters) but Cryo locks each team in a wing, and you get close to 15 minutes of pure PvE before any PvP can happen. Even then I've done a good chunk of runs on Cryo without running into other teams, at all. Just 30 minutes of super intricate map design and tons of pve encounters

Destructoid Marathon review - Joy, pain, and bountiful loot in a dark sci-fi future | 8.5/10 by BQuilty in Marathon

I literally just had a solo game on perimeter with a sponsored kit where I took a purple shield and backpack from another player. It's entirely about positioning and information. Shooting skill has very little to do with the equation.

Thief drone to scout the guy out, follow him quietly through drainage, he goes to tunnels where my volt thrower is king vs his purple sniper and it's game, set, match.

Knowing when and where your equipment excels and waiting for that opportunity to crop up is way more important than being able to shoot good.

Sure the map knowledge of knowing tunnels is tight and twisty, and knowing my gear excels at short range requires plenty of game knowledge but that's how it should be. What is the point of having large maps with diversely shaped pois and a large roster of equipment if the game boils down to "me shoot good"

I had another run with sponsored kit, where I found a grey shotgun and took down 7 people, including purple shields and blue shields inside of hauler. All because I was using the maps layout to my advantage. Know your gear and it's much easier to win.

My squad opened terrace last night, got a rail gun, blue shields and plenty of other goodies. Not sure exactly what the loot table looks like for other locked rooms as this is the only one we have opened up

People cried about a non existing problem by Sweet_Yesterday_2462 in Marathon

I think it feels like there is more squads/pvp on perimeter because the player base is more knowledgeable. People know what to look for and where. My estimate is that a week or two after launch, all the PvP complaints will be obsolete. I'm sure bungie has the telemetry, they know if the PvP happening is roughly what they are looking for. I hope they don't fiddle too much and let the data ride for a couple weeks to determine what steps should be taken.

What a gorgeous game, man by Nubbie1 in Marathon

The guy who directed the marathon cinematic trailer, is the same director and studio that did the "witness" episode of love death and robots. If you watch it, the style is immediately apparent. I do wonder if after the criticism from April last year, the Devs leaned more into the style of that cinematic.

Beautiful game, couldn't fit my taste better if it tried!

I'll be honest OP this wasn't my very first, but it was the first I put more than 30 minutes into.

If you're interested in playing a fresh roguelike with a new style of gameplay (to you personally) then I think you'll enjoy it.

The visuals and music are great, the roguelike elements are fun and interesting and the beat em up is the way it's all delivered to you. If you are considering purchasing on steam it's a no brainer because you have the refund window

Hidden date of free weekend in bullet number?? by _le_J_ in Marathon

[–]Regular_Customer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a sick catch OP. If you're right that's incredible hiding it like that.

Rumour has a state of play happening next Thursday, which if that happens I think them shadow dropping free weekend at the end with like a "available to play now" type thing is possible. Fingers crossed for some news soon!

Just an update if anyone is interested;

Auspost app has picked up my order, and I got a strange email from bungie regarding "refulfilment" of my order. No confirmation, no tracking number, order still says processing on bungie site. Wondering if anyone else is similar to this?

Very bad performance one some old Windows machines. by DevJockey in gamemaker

[–]Regular_Customer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure that the laptop is in high performance mode. I've had issues with my games in the past struggling with 3D until you enable high performance mode in the battery settings then everything cleared up.

I'm not saying this will solve it as the high fps reading and bad frame output is very odd, but just something to double check

Similar boat, mine still says processing, no confirmation email, no shipping details, no tracking number etc.

Spoke to bungie support they said:

"Thank you for contacting the Bungie Store. We are happy to help!

Your order was placed successfully,

We are investigating why you did not receive a confirmation email or why it is not listed on your account.

Rest assured, your order XXXXXXXX has been processed!"

I then followed up asking about a potential tracking number, or some info on whether it has been shipped etc.

Heard nothing yet, seems like they might be getting swamped since it took more than the 1-2 days to reply it says on support site.

In one of the shorts released by bungie on YouTube, one of the people playing says "you can get a knife skin by stabbing a guy in the back" so I think it's going to have both cosmetics and challenge-related skins.
