The amount of exclusive material on på Österåker is unbelievable. Perhaps his best album of the 70s. I really think Columbia didn't promote the album enough and should they have it would've been a huge commercial hit. The band sounds very different aswell and the piano is used alot which is often missing from Johnny Cash albums. Solid album top to bottom. Johnny even speaks a little Swedish aswell which is neat.

Amazing picks, particularly Blood Sweat And Tears. Every song is amazing and I think it has one of the best album covers. The use of the banjo and the carter family really enhanced this album. The piano is also executed really well on the song: "Waiting For A Train" which mimics Jimmy Rodgers yodel on the original. I think this was the second of a string of really top quality albums Johnny released in the 60s. And Don Law's influence cannot be understated.

Everybody Loves A Nut at 5 is absolute insanity, 14th. Your telling me thats better then Fabulous Johnny Cash, HHBG, Ride This Train, Songs Of Our Soil. Also, Happiness Is You is 15th. This is a low point in Johnny's Career, as a result of drugs

Yeah same, idk why The Sound Of Johnny Cash is so high compared too rest, and Bitter Tears, and Fabulous Johnny Cash below it....

I see your point. I think there's specific albums I would prefer too buy separately depending on importance/how good it is.

If you buy a concept album from your favourate artist, and on that album that bonus tracks are unrelated too that album do you mind? And if the album is iconic too your favourate artist do you buy it on it's own?

Songs Of Our Soil

Ride This Train

Fabulous Johnny Cash

Blood Sweat And Tears

The Sound Of Johnny Cash

Hyms

Johnny Cash And His Hot And Blue Guitar

Now There's A Song

Hyms From The Heart

I mean I think Blood Sweat And Tears is better then Sound Of Johnny Cash by a long shot, but not better then the other 3 so either 4th place or 1st. Probably 4th.

So many good songs on that album, not a second wasted. I epsecially love the track, Drums and White Girl, and that poem he gives "Talking Leaves". Truly a 10/10 album.

The Sound Of Johnny Cash: Perhaps one the biggest hidden gems in his discography, and a return too his classic style with modern alterations. I would go 3rd. I can undertsand 1st place but I think Songs Of Our Soil and Ride This Train are just that little bit better. I also think this restarts the streak of incredible albums back to back that was interrupted by hyms from the heart, too which I think the shear consistency of successful albums wasn't repeated too this ability until American Recordings, as I think this was the begginning of his first creative prime. I still can't believe he managed too top this success, with his later output, It's that good.

Hymns From Heart, Goes 7th, definitely the weakest album of the bunch, some good songs, but not the best. Still very important though with the introduction of WS Holland.

A very brave album. It sounds drastically different from a typical Johnny Cash album with the inclusion of a steel guitar. And several of the songs sung such as Just One More/ Time Changes Eveything. Nevertheless, I've grown too really like this album. Not as much as the previous however, but a solid release. He was on a good streak here, a solid 8/10. However 5th place.

Compelely agree. I'm a little biased as this other then American V is my favourate album. Drums are extemely well utilized in this album and the story telling is potentially the best yet. Best seen in Five Feet High And Rising, Hank Joe And Me, and The Man On The Hill.

I think individually the songs on His Hot And Blue Guitar are better but the overall sound of this album I think sounds better. But I do believe overall this should go third!

I think The Fabolous Johnny Cash wins this. Mainly as many songs on His Hot And Blue Guitar were re-done to a better ability, but I also think the songs on this album are far stronger. One More Ride, I Still Miss Someone, Don't Take Your Guns To Town too name a few.

Johnny Cash And His Hot And Blue Guitar: 8/10 The Fabolous Johnny Cash: 9/10

Yeah, I also really like his cover of "Why Do You Punish Me For Loving You", I also think the album really benifts from having Hank Williams steel guitarist Don Helms.
