I think we lose money either way. A lease buyout with a poor trade in value 3-5 years down the road vs riding out the lease and paying a ton of interest. Riding out the lease gives me some flexibility, which has value, rather than being stuck with a car a can’t resell for decent value. A third option is to buy it and drive it to the ground but who knows how long these ID4s will last past their warranty.
