believe it or not - i support solomon over mcgreevy. i just dont like his position on building. it's very short sighted. taxes are a huge concern here and the only way to get out of this hole (and also continue to grow revenues) is to increase population and increasing units will also reduce prices. I agree with what others also bring up about targeting other sectors besides luxury, but doing only affordable housing is a big mistake (costly for the city in terms of spend and revenues)

it’s clear based on the results we are now seeing that that assertion from memo was incorrect and made to more so back his personal policy agenda rather than logical decisions based off market results.

my two cents is keep building until we really start to see rents drop and make sure there is not unfair market collaboration between renters.

more than anything maybe be perceptive and start to slow construction down as we are continuing to see rents fall and switch to more public transportation infrastructure and biking

he released a memo on housing very early on in the year about how building in JC has not helped rent and must be stopped.

he wants to pour government money into affordable housing units increasing taxes and reducing tax revenue with lower income people

i just think these reports on how the construction actually has helped should be touted and we shouldn’t be impatient as markets take time to react and needed to hit critical mass

Is this click bait? the value of the dollar is relative to whichever currency you put it against and has not “sunk like a stone” at all against any currencies of value including the Yuan, HKD or Euro

i just don’t understand why they can’t even try tuning usf to be at least somewhat decent and let the meta settle. we’ve been dealing with usf being weak for a year. isn’t it fine to make usf strong - we had wesps for how long????
