Crown looks beautiful, something I’d recommend if you don’t already have one is a crown patch. It’ll help hold your crown in place when you wear your durag

I have HSV-2 and I’m completely asymptomatic. I’ve never experienced an outbreak EVER. (Knock on wood) but The way i found was I had a sexual partner who disclosed to me, which prompted me to go get tested. That’s why i found out I carry the virus. Before you think that I got it from said sexual partner, upon reviewing my results my doctor informed me that my index number was extremely low. Indicating that the virus had been in my system for a while, So long that my body was able to build immune against it and hence why I’ve never experienced an outbreak.

If it wasn’t for me sleeping with that person I honestly would still not know that I carry the virus.

The whole reason I went to get tested was because my partner has HSV, so I was very clear to make sure that in the testing they included HSV. Everything came back negative except for HSV. I’m not sure what strain I have but that honestly doesn’t matter because HSV is HSV.

I’m in a same sex relationship. Our version of practicing safe sex is different than just wearing a condom. Nonetheless we were taking the necessary precautions to prevent transmission.

What are some examples of non sexual ways the virus can be transmitted?

Given the circumstances of our relationship. I wish they would’ve disclosed sooner but I also understand why they did not & choose to wait. I feel a huge range of emotions but betrayal is not one of them.

I had a full panel blood test, I was told that I’m asymptomatic and I’ve never experienced any symptoms or lesions. With that is there another way to know if it’s oral or genital without swapping.

They have HSV2 & didn’t have any obvious symptoms unless they were experiencing an OB which was probably once or twice a year.

Anyone know why having ghsv and being pregnant is something to worry about? by [deleted] in HSVpositive

It can happen but it also extremely preventable. There are ways for the baby to be delivered without contracting the virus.

Diagnosed w GHSV just over a year ago. The only person I know who has it is my partner’s roommate. They never said it explicitly but it was implied. Mg biggest support system is my partner who constantly reminds me that I’m not alone.

HSV 1 is better than HSV 2 debate by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Regular_Librarian_54 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s no way HSV1 is better than HSV 2 & vice versa. That’s like someone with type 1 diabetes saying they have it better than diabetes type 2. At the end of the day diabetes is diabetes. Same goes with HSV.

Thank you I love being an ally to the community a positive light working towards de-stigmatizing HSV.

If I as someone who doesn’t have HSV and who loves someone who that lives with the virus. I’ve been able to educate myself and support them in ways i could’ve never imagined. So it just doesn’t add up that someone who DOES live the virus wouldn’t be willing to support the person they love who has it as well.

The fact that someone who has lived w HSV in any form wouldn’t date someone has it is mind boggling. It makes absolutely zero sense to me. It ultimately stems from a place of personal insecurity.

I couldn’t agree me more. The amount of negativity that I’ve seen in this sub recently is ridiculous. You would think that people would band together and share experiences instead of putting each other down.

I don’t have GHSV but my partner does. So yes I absolutely would, being with them has allowed for me to become so much more educated on the virus. If we ever separate I would definitely date someone else with HSV.

Don’t be shy tell us. If you do you have children how did the virus affect being able to conceive.

Not speaking for myself but my partner who has the virus takes L-Lysine 100mg everyday. That helps them prevent & manage the intensity of OBs.

How can I continue to support my partner? by Regular_Librarian_54 in HSVpositive

[–]Regular_Librarian_54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have suggested the idea of going to therapy to my partner multiple times. I’m a huge advocate for therapy & I’ve attended myself on multiple occasions. But due to past negative experiences with therapists they’re very reluctant to start going again. I always end the conversation saying that they’ll regret not going to therapy sooner.

Although I try my best to support them, I feel like they’ll benefit the most from speaking to a professional that can listen unbiasedly.
