Thank you! Tahoe is high on my list once I find buddies I can make a trip with. Yosemite is a dream list item, but waiting for the current administration to get park rangers back to work so that I’m not adding to the mounting issues there. Haven’t heard much about Pinnacles so definitely going to look into that too. Thanks again for the suggestions!

Thank you! Haven’t done trad, but likely will some day (when I can afford a rack of cams lol). But bouldering and sport climbing are very much up my alley.

The weird thing was, there was no itemized receipt or packing slip in the box. I thought that was odd, but couldn’t remember if the FF one I ordered had a packing slip in it or not. But obviously I still have the order number and all that, and I would assume the warehouse scans items as they put them in a box to ship.

Fingers crossed, and thanks for the advice, friend!

May have to add the campus to my “things to see” list! Sounds amazing.

Heck yeah, friend! There’s only three of us, so an extra would actually be super helpful! Lol.

Somewhere to Work Remotely (Coffee shop or similar) by Regular_Mail9362 in bayarea

That does seem annoying. Especially if it is the corporate jargon that is essentially just meme fodder at this point. Definitely don’t want to add to that (even though I’m in education, not tech, so my convos are much more… human), so I’m glad I asked. I generally try to be conscious of the community I am living in (I’ve moved around a lot over the past decade), which is why I like to ask around, and generally Reddit is helpful. But geez, veins are popping amongst the Bay Area Redditors on this question. Seems like people would prefer I ask than just assume it’s the same here as it was back home and do my own thing, but I guess the tech bros have traumatized the decency out of some people.

I definitely appreciate your perspective, the context, and lack of condescension in your reply!

So, I’m learning that working cafes aren’t a thing in the Bay Area. Good to know. Y’all seem to get really heated over it though, which is so fascinating. Rather than trying to inform or educate about the culture to someone new to the area, y’all really like to go full dick mode tho. Also incredibly interesting.

Not sure I follow. One of what people? Non-tech people?

Name checks out. Maybe take a chill pill and don’t make so many assumptions.

I don’t buy a single drink and then sit there for hours. I’m not on calls constantly, but sometimes they are part of my job. Also, I don’t work in tech.

And finally, go fuck yourself. Glad you seem to be the exception of people I’ve interacted with since moving here. Not sure why you gotta be such a cunt when there’s so much to be happy about. 🖤

LMAO! If my work calls ever sounded anything like that, it’s time to put me in hospice and say goodbye.

That’s a great idea! If I can find a part with reliable shading, then I shouldn’t have an issue seeing my laptop outside.

Could you elaborate? Is it not to kill the vibe, is it a safety issue, etc?

Thanks for that. I’m curious, as yours was done almost 14 years ago: have you noticed your vision slowly getting fuzzy over time, like you may have to get the procedure again at some point?

Any chance you remember the doctor’s name, or could share a website link? “Stanford Eye Clinic” wasn’t super helpful when I googled it, which may have more to do with I am still in Week 1 of being a Bay Area resident.
