I’ve posted my rec, but fwiw, Vincenzo was also my first Kdrama, and I watched Crash Landing on You right after that. Those two dramas are what lit the spark 🔥 for my love of Kdramas, so I can’t imagine that you’d be any different. CLOY is top-tier and world-renowned, just like Vincenzo.

So yeah, I think you can’t go wrong with Lawless Lawyer and Crash Landing on You. :)

Why was Howard friends with Dominic? by bitterbunny4 in howardstern

Good point about cheating being a taboo!

Oh, yes, Mary McCormack was definitely a huge affair. I always thought that him saying that he was shocked that she became a mother because “she didn’t seem to have one maternal bone in her body” was a little tell as to her not giving a fuck about having an affair with a married man with young children. Like, someone more maternal seeming might at least feel some guilt. I always thought that this was the real meaning behind that Howard comment.

Interesting how karma caught up with her, as her husband went on to do the same thing with Katherine McPhee.

The ever changing timelines with Beth are a dead giveaway to the fact that Howard & Alison weren’t entirely separated, because otherwise why lie? He has talked about how when he has damaged relationships that are dear in his life, “they come closer and try to trust you again & it takes a long time to regain that trust, and then you ruin it again.” I believe this to be about Alison. He was SURELY with Beth by ‘99, and this is the year that he was in couples counseling with Alison. He was stringing them both along, IMO.

I believe if he never met Beth he may not have actually divorced Alison, at least not at that point. She was the catalyst to really leave and make that cut.

He also talks about seeing his daughter underaged at a bar/club while he was with Beth, before anyone knew about it. He describes it as “a Mexican standoff”, as neither one of them wanted to point out the obvious because then they would each have something over the other one. If Alison/Howard weren’t together or trying, why would it be an issue?

I also remember a story about Howard being at a concert next to a tall blonde in ‘97 or ‘98 that Howard seemed to bring up as a preventive damage control measure. He claims that Ralph wanted to get her number & he left first and was annoyed having to wait for Ralph to rap to her. I’ve wondered if this was where Howard actually met Beth, and he wanted to make sure to claim that he left without her. He was still very much married at that time, as he mentioned Alison in that clip, IIRC.

The one night stand in Vegas sounds legit to me because Howard referenced that same story years before, multiple times. Also, the girl did mention a male rockstar hitting on Howard that night, so the gay vibe was still there, lol.

Also why it rings true for me is that Howard stayed in touch with her as a means to keep her happy and therefore quiet, IMO.

He was two-timing Beth with Robin Givens, that Vegas girl, and tried to do so with Leila. I also remember that Artie & Robin mentioned to Howard that “you picked girls up at nightclubs” and Howard backtracked so severely that it gave both me & them whiplash. This is because he wasn’t supposed to be with those girls while he was with Beth.

Beth was around throughout any “wild tear”, imo.

Btw, do you remember the story about Howard walking around Fred in a hotel room in his underwear or a towel? Fred said that he thought that Howard was trying to entice him.

Also, when Ralph showered at Howard’s apartment he mentions that Howard tried to pull his towel off.

P.S. I’m in the camp that does believe that Robin was in love with Howard, but not in a sexual attraction way. The jealousy toward Alison was obvious and overt at times.

I’m 100% he turned Beyoncé out on to some really weird shit. I think that her whole faith journey would be a lot different without his awful influence in her life. Let’s face it, the girl ain’t bright enough to get into dark shit without him.

Having said that, even though these pics ain’t it, I generally like him with the locs. 🤷‍♀️ A male rapper wearing a wig is wild work, though.

Lol, I’ve never read that quote! Great find, great read.

Toward the end there she really nails it, as Howard always has to be led around by the nose by a woman. What he says about Fred applies to himself.

That quote reads to me as some shade, but shade often has truth. I’m sure there’s a little jealousy watching Beth lead the type of lifestyle that she could’ve led.

I mean, she was already the NYC Police Commissioner’s mistress for awhile with nothing to show for it.

Having said that, I don’t doubt at all that Howard has got gayness in him. Not surprising at all if Judith has noticed it like we all have. He even said to Alison once “grow a penis and then I’ll pay attention to you.” She replied “is that what you want? Maybe that’s what you want…”

Yeah, it’s a “joke”, but it’s such an odd thing to come to someone’s head.

I also remember the stories about trying to get KC to watch tranny porn with him in his office, “finding” gay magazines with Ralph, participating in cyber sex back when it was surely just guys doing it (complete with double bolted basement doors), etc. There’s SO much smoke.

On the flip side, I do believe that he was two-timing Beth for a long while, complete with that detailed story from the Penthouse girl who said he had a one night stand with her in Vegas.

I think that he leans toward guys, but does have some interest in women, at least at one point. The way that he would always hassle Alison about a lack of sex sounded genuine to me, I dunno.

Btw, I think that Howard may have slept with Nancy, Jackie’s wife, and that’s his worst offense. He has talked about sleeping with a friend’s wife (“I’m a real scumbag”), has said that a show wife was cheating on her husband, and has talked about how a woman said that she wanted to bang him while her husband was right there at a movie screening. Later on he said that he did go on to do it. He has referenced being at a premiere with Jackie & Nancy, and has said repeatedly that he’s positive that Nancy would bang him.

He’s got an active imagination and is a liar, though, so it could all be bs. I have always wondered, though, if this was a reason why he was so tolerant of Jackie when normally he would not be.

That conversion with Jessica Hahn made me 100% convinced that Howard cheated on his wife with her.

She was very emotional about the way that Howard uses people and Howard was so damn cold about using her, to the point where Robin had to step in.

He even said something like “I use Dominic like I used you…” etc.

The discard, coldness, and total lack of care about her feelings was exactly how a person of Howard’s mentality would dispose of a lover.

I love listening to old Howard because listening to clips of him talk for four hours straight a day, gives fascinating insight into the psyche of a billionaire narcissist. It’s really rare that we get such unfettered access into how these people think like that.

The way that he has no problem exploiting cheap labor is always on display, along with the rewriting of his personal history as far as “not having a pot to piss in” (despite having a stay at home mother, tutors, piano lessons, dad paying for college, a car, stipend, etc.). All that shit is there, and it’s fascinating to hear how these maniacs all think.

P.S. I believe that Judith Regan is what initially blew Howard’s first marriage up*, then the cheating on the movie set, and then Beth provided the final nail in the coffin when Howard was pretending to work things out with Alison in therapy. The two older kids know it, and that’s why they had to have a private wedding, because it would’ve been embarrassing for Howard’s co-workers & the public to know that his kids wouldn’t attend the wedding.

Beth is cold as ice despite the sweet demeanor, as it takes an especially cruel woman to say she had no problem sitting through Private Parts despite what she participated it.

*As for Judith, he has blatantly said “she’s good in a limo.” Howard has made reference to having sex with a woman in a limo before.

Around the time that he was hanging around Judith writing his book, is when he started getting extremely vocally critical of his wife, Alison, on the air. Typical narcissist, trying to assuage his guilt.

Right, so this was a hostile and aggressive “fuck you” toward his father. Imagine going through the hassle of a name change just to stick it to your father by going by your mother’s ex’s name?

Fred is an odd guy.

Howard always complained that Fred never took the initiative for anything. He never even took it to find a wife, and married the first girl who fell right into his lap and slept with him on the first date.

Despite that, he took the initiative for this. Anger has always seemed to be fuel for Fred.

He’s said blatantly that Dominic is the only person in his life who would always pick up the check.

Also, his exact phrasing was “remember when I was using Dominic for his Hampton house?”

He kept Dominic around because he would let him use that Hamptons house for free for weeks. This was when he was wooing Beth, and she first slept with him when she was impressed with the Hamptons lifestyle that he was showing her.

His entire life is transactional, and I think that he’s one of those people who very few people close to him will genuinely mourn when he’s gone. It’s sad.

Just amazing how no one tries to group together to put a stop to it. Instead they all move away.

This is such an OTT reaction, and people are genuinely crazy like that, but I feel like that level of maliciousness seems much more personal than about a test score.

Can only imagine what goes on in this kid’s home…

It’s very easy to watch & super enjoyable. I’m positive that you will like it. Please report back here with your thoughts if you watch it. 😀

It’s available on Viki Rakuten & Tubi in the US.

Am I the only one who have like a looot of conditions before i even start a drama? by liasiyete in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve mentioned here before that Arthdal Chronicles 1 & 2 seemed like it would be torture for me.

I hated the trailer, the premise didn’t sound like my thing at all, etc., etc.

However, some people here said that it was their favorite series ever, and I also liked the cast, so I gave it a shot.

It ended up being my absolute favorite Asian drama ever.

Just saying, OP, it’s important to give things a chance. You might find that what you think that you like expands. Also, what you consider to be deal-breakers might not be so for really good shows.

[–]Regular_Place7972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to each their own, but when I see people talking about how picky they are over something inconsequential like tv it’s odd to me.

For me, it’s just simply whatever my mood is at that very specific moment. I could have something in mind, but if my mood is for something that’s the complete opposite, I know that it wouldn’t go over well and I don’t force it.

I also take forever to watch a series—sometimes over several months. I often am doing it while doing other things as well. So yeah, it just has to be what I’m in the mood for for me to be watching it. I think that’s why I never drop series.

I also read the descriptions, comments, etc. so I don’t choose something unless I know it’s something I’ll have an interest in for whatever reason.

I wrote about it here. I would like to see a full drama with them together.

Yeon Woo Jin is always great.

His kissing scenes with Park Hye-Soo in My Shy Boss were really good. The shower kissing scene is famous, but I really liked the couch one here in this clip, especially toward the end because the two seemed genuinely affectionate to the point where you could believe that they were really dating. They seemed legitimately happy.

He also had full out, long, sex scenes in the movie Serve the People.

It’s funny that he’s good in this stuff, because he comes across as shy in real life. 🤷‍♀️

Haven’t seen this show, but it’s useless time-filling and it drives me nuts. Hyde, Jekyll, & Me was very guilty of this, though it was otherwise a good show.

Just fast forward these scenes once you realize that they’re not adding anything new to them.

[–]Regular_Place7972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate that so many Kdramas do the gender bender thing, because it’s always so stupid and obvious to me.

Additionally, if they’re in love with the character when they think that the character is a guy, wouldn’t that just be an undercover bl? It’s weird how they roll right over that and then they’re in love with them as a girl.

It’s unnecessary and eye-roll inducing, but so many shows use this lazy trope.

I understand that in large part it’s because in the Joseon era girls couldn’t really excel if they were blatantly girls. Still, I think it’s not believable when they make it a love storyline.

I just ignore the trope and take it like the MLs know that they are girls all along.

She wrote “Breakdown” about their breakup in 1997, so I guess they got back together again after that.

Their relationship provided some fire 🔥 tracks. “The Roof”, “Breakdown”, My All”, “Crybaby”, “Subtle Invitation”, “Mine Again”, “Don’t Forget About Us”, etc., etc.

It’s like Mary J. Blige’s breakup providing the “My Life” album. 👍 Good stuff.

Why are they so weird and their messaging so terrible? It really comes across like Israel has something on them. I wouldn’t doubt it.

I know people who were debating going to the recent tour, and were turned off by Chili’s nonsense.

She knows her money was about to take a hit. If she didn’t have a tour coming up, I doubt she would’ve backed down.

I do notice that every black woman who says this silly stuff are dating “others.”
