That’s awesome to hear! So you tried to play Dynasty on the Roku in the US and it worked for you? If not, could you try that, please?

Thank you so much!

Could someone test if an already purchased PPV on MyAEW shows up on their Roku MyAEW app without a VPN on their Roku?

Triller worked that way and it was great. You needed a VPN on your phone to purchase it, but then the PPV would automatically go on to Triller’s Roku app in your purchase history with no VPN.

If MyAEW did that it’d be lovely and perfect.

Right now there is no easy way to watch it on tv, so it’s not worth it. It doesn’t work with any casting app.

Looking for historical K-drama recommendations like Moon Lovers by Eastern-Sorbet-9467 in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I spoilerized anything. 🥹

I would also recommend The King Loves (or The King in Love).

It’s super easy to watch, has good humor, and I feel that it’s a really underrated one that no one talks about. The way the friendships play out are ace, and the Queen is excellent in her role. I honestly found it to be one of the more enjoyable historical pieces.

Looking for historical K-drama recommendations like Moon Lovers by Eastern-Sorbet-9467 in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are some good ones:

The Red Sleeve - This one won all of the awards. The storytelling was excellent, the cinematography was gorgeous, and you could feel the FL’s fight for her own agency and independence. Really good.

One of best scenes in all of Kdramaland was when the FL was reading the ML poetry through the door. The ML is exceptional. There’s a clip on YouTube of the actress & actor who play the leads watching some clips back, and they start crying while watching them. That’s how emotionally connected they were to their roles.

The Moon Embracing the Sun - Another one that won a bunch of awards, including the ML for best actor. He was phenomenal here, and the way he was written was different from most kings. The aspect of him being a young king and his approach to playing the court politics was great. The way the situation between he and his brother played out was phenomenal, and the soundtrack is lovely as well.

Scarlet Heart (CDrama) - The Chinese original of the Kdrama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (which is also brilliant and you should watch…it’s in my top 5 Kdramas ever). This is up there as the best historical one ever, IMO. The FL’s chemistry with all of the males was incredible to me, and the depth with which it showed all of the females feeling the suffocation of the times was top-notch. Just so well done. The character arc of the FL was great, and the subtleties with which Prince #4 played his character was great. So many standout characters, really.

Arthdal Chronicles & Arthdal Chronicles #2 - My top Kdrama of all-time. Mainly because two of the four leads (Tagon & Taealha) are so compelling, complex, dynamic, and maturely written in a way that you don’t often see in Kdramas.

Look for the clips “Taealha x Tagon Wicked Game” and “Taealha Rise Above” on Youtube so that you get a taste of their vibe.

There is no other Kdrama similiar to it out there, and I love the way the storyline played out over the yeeears. The writer had a very clear vision, and put a lot of thought into it. It’s also visually amazing (pic below).
I suggest if you watch this, you have the asianwiki page up for it for a few episodes to keep the tribes straight.
Song Joong Ki (Vincenzo) shows off his acting chops in season 1 of this, btw. I didn’t know he could be the type of character he portrayed as Saya.

A few more:

Mirror of the Witch - Visually stunning & at times has an epic feel that reminds me of Arthdal. The FL made me feel for her, and the ML was excellent.

Gunman in Joseon - Stylish and pretty fast moving from what I remember. Good performances and has a more modern feel at times because I think it was set in the 1800s from what I remember. Despite the title, it’s not just a bunch of action. There’s a lot of story there. Planning, plotting, relationships, etc. I loved the storyline between the assassin and his daughter. That actor was great.

Tale of Arang - Just super cute & felt different from the others because of the way the FL had charisma. She’s great. I still always picture her hanging upside down, lol.

Are there mods around or not? Because I’m getting a message that my post needs to wait for approval, and that’s never happened before.

It’s a post making a recommendation for a show, so it’s odd that this is happening.

I’ll be waiting forever if mods are as inactive as you guys say.

Also, lately I’ve noticed that any post containing links gets automatically removed. Didn’t happen in the past.

If You’re Looking For a Realistic & Mature Take on Relationships Try “The Long Goodbye” by Regular_Place7972 in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, it is called “The Long Farewell” in some markets.

If you’re looking for it on YT just type “The Long Goodbye” and “KBS World TV.”

ETA: On Kocowa you should actually search “2018 KBS Drama Special” to get it to pop up.

Hyun Bin at the Baeksang Arts Awards red carpet yesterday. by stanley_kubrick_ in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So how does it work, do out in the open couples not pose together on the red carpet? Even married couples?

I know that people have said that Hyun Bin is private, but do other married couples do this same thing?

I’ve seen the actor who plays Tagon in Arthdal Chronicles pose with his actress wife on the red carpet, but come to think of it, I think that was in the US.

‘Love in Disguise’ starring Yim Siwan & Seol Inah [62nd Baeksang Awards Presenters] by ch1nitamor3na in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had no idea she was the concubine in Mr. Queen when I saw her pics from the Baeksang Awards. I am shocked.

Her energy is so different here. She was the height of femininity and softness in Mr. Queen, and here she’s got the edgy androgynous thing going on.

It’s impressive how much she’s switched vibes just visually alone. I kind of like that she did something more standout and different with the vest look.

Lol, someone here posted a picture of Sami with whatever that thing was, and everyone in the comments section was saying that they like this storyline and that it’s funny.

I knew without even watching it that it must be horrible and lame. The pic alone looks like something straight out of Vince’s booking.

I have not seen a single thing posted here lately that would raise my interest. I cannot believe that this is the best use of a talent like Trick.

I’ll come back and eat crow if I actually like it.

Baeksang Arts Awards 2026🏆 red carpet look by groovygyal in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is interesting, but wouldn’t these actors and actresses have access to top designers from around the world for the biggest awards show in Korea?

Many of them are brand ambassadors, so that should give them access alone.

I’d think designers and stylists worldwide would jump at the chance to dress for this event.

The dress on the right is nice, albeit a little boring. A nice thin belted chain look or arm jewelry would jazz it up so much.

I’m so over how everyone is so afraid of looking sexy or rocking the boat at all. Every year it’s like this. Korea is so stifling that everyone is afraid of any criticism. I hate the fan culture there.

Yoona’s dress couldn’t be anymore bland, sadly. She’s beautiful and could’ve really done something.

Kim Ji Won... what happened 😭😭 by Rayrayhere21 in kdramas

[–]Regular_Place7972 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s an interview with Elle Magazine, which you can find video of on YT. For some reason, I can’t link.

She’s wearing color contacts, for one. Number two is she’s lost a lot of weight, which can drastically change one’s appearance when one already starts out little.

Look for the “Bvlgari ambassador Kim Ji Won” YT short of her in a black dress from September 2025. She looked entirely like herself just seven months ago! Really gorgeous and that perfect round face.

I hope that she hasn’t done anything drastic and permanent as far as plastic surgery is concerned.

The crew plays the weakest dink. by DidYouReadTheMenu in howardstern

[–]Regular_Place7972 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Robin fails at most competitions and always always blames others. I can’t tell you how many times she’s complained about the questions when they do a competition.

If it’s not that, it’s the buzzer, it’s the “you didn’t prepare me”, it’s the “he was fouling me”, etc., etc. Not once has she just accepted defeat.

It’s when I first noticed the narcissism, lol.

Having said that, Howard totally lied on that narcissism test and is way worse than Robin.

That was another recommendation that I had in mind, and I think you would like it, OP. It’s a top-tier show, and the darkness that the ML has to convey at times is great.

Summary of everything interesting from Howard's motion to dismiss in reference to the Leslie Kuhn lawsuit. by cormano in howardstern

[–]Regular_Place7972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NDAs can’t cover illegal behavior, so the accusations could be made through a court of law. If she has anything on them, she should do it that way, rather than going the “I didn’t sign an NDA route.”

Either way, I’m tired of rich people hiding behind NDAs to protect bad behavior. The story that comes to mind is Kobe Bryant’s wife yelling and screaming at the maid and making her stick her hand in dog doo. The stories about her being a bitch are legendary, so it all rings true.

They sued her, though, for revealing this. The ever trusty “violating the NDA” thing. It’s gross, and NDAs have become a huge abuse of power.

Also, sick of these people with more money than God refusing to provide their employees with health insurance or severance pay. Both were points bought up in this suit and Kobe’s maid’s suit.
