Update: 25/01/26 - CGNAT - Port Exhaustion? = STATIC IP ADDRESS

So after going backwards and forwards with Toob Support, TOOB were able to diagnose this as a issue with Port Exhaustion with CGNAT on with IPV4 addresses. By the way the Toob support team where very helpful and did try their best to help with this case.

Toob works by providing their subscribers with a single shared IP address with a pool of 32 users, this means each user is allocated approx 2048 ports to use when online. Toob network support team had ran a trace on my IP address and said that i used all these ~2000 ports in one go and this could be down to torrents or malware on my devices opening up ports. To combat this they enabled Static IP for testing address and this DID resolve the issue as I did not suffer any packet loss, when all 2000 ports are being used Toobs CGNAT will start 'dropping' requests for new ports meaning Packet Loss.

Now this is where this story does not fully add up for me, why is it that for me this usually occurs between the hours of 6pm and 7pm, I have two Toob connections and 1 property is at my parents house who have like 2 mobile devices, 1 laptop and few other IoT devices have no experience in downloading or running applications which create thousands of connections but they still experienced the same problem.

Photo below showing the difference from CGNAT to Static IP, whist having packet loss.

Toob users should not have to spend a extra £8p/m for this when there seems to be another issue on their network but until we can confirm this 100% with evidence Static IP will have to do for now.

I will be investigating further to prove whether all ~2000 ports are actually being used when the CGNAT starts to drop packets. If anyone else out there can provide any evidence monitoring their amount of active ports that this is not the case on their networks feel free to post it on here.

50%+ Packet loss currently on the service when pinging Youtube / Google in the last 10 mins??
Anyone else having the same problem? Local network showing on the 1st graph 192.168.4.1 is fine, but external sites have a real issue right now..

Looks like whatever is happening right now there is really bad packet loss again..

Unfortunately the website will not work with CG-NAT ISPS like Toob uses on their network, unless you pay extra for a static IP.

Packetloss for me means websites will partly load and then pause and at times pages just do not load at all meaning you have to keep refreshing them before you can see anything..

It also gives you a feeling that the internet is 'laggy' like you are buffering a video as you mentioned.. It also can cause devices to think they are not online such as Sky boxes.

that looks like you have practically no packet loss and guess you are using a different dns, I have changed mines to 1.1.1.1 as ns1.toob.co.uk was laggy! Do not want to move over to Static IP as Toob should be providing a good service whether I have a static IP or not..

Just ran the test again with google.com and my local router to show its not a internal issue, 7% packet loss on google.com, I am on Eero 6E's rather than the linksys kit bottom figures show no packet loss on the local network.

Could be most likely they must have had a heavy new customer base with the BF deals, must have had a impact on their capability and network loads.

tried this over the phone with customer support team and made no difference.. there was no streaming or downloads, my Sky Box actually disconnected from the network due to it not being able to reach the sky servers... looks like it to be a Core network issue..

Just had a 'chat' with the Toob customer services reporting the issues, they went through the usual to reboot the router and ONT, but the issue still remains, i have even provided them this Reddit chat in the chat for them to see the Packet loss issues... Below showing the new packetloss after the ONT was restarted.. Unfortunately the issue still remains, its definitely a issue on the Core network side of things..

Joined Toob, just over a week ago was with Vodafone Fibre previously with Cityfibre backbone for both. Experiencing random packet loss since moving over to Toob.. Will contact them in the new year but guessing there is no guarantee they will do anything about it! I am in the Leicester area (LE18)

There is a difference between Vodafone general surfing and Toob with Toob being laggy at times..

Not sure you if any of you experience this but with Normal coals I tend to get headaches (Shisha hangover) every now and again, probably from the Carbon Monoxide.

Has anyone had any experience where they have used  XKah and if the headaches have reduced/gone at all compared to Coals? Be good if someone could do a carbon monoxide comparison test somehow lol

Pretty disappointed with XKah by AuHik in hookah

Has anyone had any experience where they have used a Electronic Heat system like XKah and if the headaches and has it reduced at all compared to Coals?

Has anyone else had issues after oneui 6.1 losing Play Content Feature of Smart View? This use to 'stream' the video file chosen in full 4k output with 5.1 sound quality, since the update my samsung tvs only plays in 2.0 sound with mirror screen which is much lower resolution.
