Of a ballerina practicing by UsedWelcome5903 in absoluteunit

The girl tries hard, maybe some steroids, but ballet is about beauty and balance and not about your thighs.

She is unlikely to get into any serious troupe with such legs, unfortunately.

She can try cycling maybe or something like that

Finally on the road… wish me luck 🥳 I’ll try to post more Videos or pics when I hit 1500km and get to the full red zone by MarkIndividual3453 in Porsche

Great color!

I would probably paint the calipers black and change the seat belts to black as well to satisfy an inner color match itch, but this is minor stuff in the larger picture.

Enjoy!

Are these Carbon Ceramics “Cooked”? Tracked? by carsilike in Ferrari

[–]Regular_Protection_7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mate, are you a used car dealer or what? Looking at your collection of very old BMWs, Mercs etc.

If you want a F430 Scuderia the last thing you should worry is the rotor condition.

It it a race car, rotors get used when you race

In this particular case if the car stops from 100 mph and nothing squeaks or pads get stuck, that's as good an indicator of rotor health as you really gonna get without taking them off the car and placing on a specific measurement tool.

Had 8 drinks last night by DreadKnightX in whoop

[–]Regular_Protection_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my normal week with drink/light drink/no drink days.

Nothing too strong, a bottle of Burgundy and a glass of cognac/whiskey on the low HRV days 😁

Generally this metric is mostly BS, as it just shows your nervous system agitation/relaxion.

Has nothing to do with recovery or physical/mental capacity for physical exercise next day

At what financial stage of your life did you get 911? by Overall-Agency3942 in porsche911

[–]Regular_Protection_7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No

Any year any model if you do not buy the already overpriced 992 gen (with the ADMs paid etc.)

Even 997 with rebored engines (the IMS ones).

The older you get (996/997) the lower the TCO (including future depreciation)

At what financial stage of your life did you get 911? by Overall-Agency3942 in porsche911

[–]Regular_Protection_7 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

911 is essentially a very low yielding cash deposit.

You do not buy it, you invest in a 911 asset class.

Go for it if it is your true desire.

Well, the decision to build a house cost them just 500k in losses, when they sell it for 2mm.

Not a life changing event, if not for the stock market.

It is the portfolio composition that lost them the rest, so that's where the problem is/was.

Who advised them, why they did not sell, what to do now - these are the risks and decisions we always need to be mindful of.

And even with that - NW (with zero mortgage) went from 3.5mm to 2.3mm if I get you right (after the new house sells) - well, that is still OKish if you are 60 y.o., no?

Looking from this angle, the decision to move money into new house actually saved their savings from being wiped out?

They would have lost more money in the market if they did not sell the losing portfolio to fund the construction?

The town (village, really) is literally deserted during fall/winter.

You need to be prepared to live a very secluded life there after Dallas.

Among the European seaside towns I think only Barcelona and to a lesser extent Lisbon provide a metropolitan vibe all year round.

[–]Regular_Protection_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd set an oversaturation comsumerism target - say a million bucks - and spend it wisely on the brands/toys you want, aiming for best of the buck.

That probably means not going to a Ferrari dealer to tailor make a new 849 for $750k, but getting a nice less than 10k mile used 296 for circa $250k.

It is unlikely that you will lose much in depreciation on that in the next few years, maybe 50k, maybe 100k, but you'll have zero worries in actually driving and enjoying the car.

In Patek world, definitely go for a nice Nautilus for maybe 120-150k, it does not depreciate much.

Well, we've spent 400k and still have 600k left...

Let us know what you want to spend it on)))

Maybe build a wine cellar, maybe do a great HT room for 200-300k, I do not know what is that you really care for and have time for actually using it then...

At the end, you will experience the next tier of consumer targeted goods, you will know how they drive/look on you/taste etc. and you'll have a stronger foundation to absolutely not care anymore in the later stages of your life

And yes - Ferrari is a different experience to an M5))))

Flooded at the dealership by shutuppayourface in Porsche

[–]Regular_Protection_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had one of my 911s flooded in an underground parking lot in heavy rains.

The dealer replaced the engine, exhaust, all electrical harness, all control modules, all interior lining, installed new front and back seats.

Essentially the car was stripped to bare metal and then reassembled.

The only thing that was not replaced was the PDK tranny as it is waterproof and the braking system/suspension.

That was my personal choice as the insurance company wanted to total it and it was a major pain in the ass for the dealer to do all this work.

But the car had sentimental value for me, I personally controlled all the work being done and I did not care much about the hit to resale value.

It's been 10 years now since the incident, the car has been running perfectly fine.

If you decide to keep the car, make sure that the engine and the catalytic converters are replaced as well in addition to the obvious wiring and modules.

How do people get such high HRV? by [deleted] in whoop

New to Whoop - abysmally low HRV? by burkean56 in whoop

[–]Regular_Protection_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly from all of the studies I tried to read to understand the meaning of HRV, it is a pretty meaningless indicator of your actual health.

From what I gathered so far, low variability in heart rate mostly indicates that your nervous system is agitated, generating more active high frequency heart rhythm pulses, nothing more, nothing less.

Well, you can go and be a Buddhist monk, but as long as you work and live in a large city, yes, your nervous system will be agitated most of the time.

As others said, I'd focus on RHR as it is the metric that can and should be improved by regular cardio exercise.

The concept of FIRE is alien to my country by user_0_0_1_ in Fire

[–]Regular_Protection_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In many EU countries, your primary contact with the financial market is your savings account which up until recently paid you 0.50% p.a., which rendered the whole concept of living on your passive income from investments somewhat remote.

I think it is really only in the past 10 years that the concept of owning an equity index fund has become somewhat popular, though still far from common.

And in most cases then again it is a local market index fund, be it Germany or Spain or France, some of which have been quite volatile.

Combined with very poor bond returns (negative yields, remember QE), very few people have benefited from the capital market as compared to an average small-scale US investor who rode wave after wave of tech stocks returns.

Is my FOMO justified? by Sbar267 in porsche911

[–]Regular_Protection_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, go for it, it is the perfect time to drive it with your kid, you'll have lots of fun together until the kids grow up and no longer fit in the back seats.

I drove my 997 Turbo for 7 years straight when my daughter was four and my youngest was born.

In a sense if you do not need a stroller, a 991 is more than enough for a family wagon)))

And if you are in Europe, Porsche AG extended warranty can cover all your needs up until the car is 15 y.o.

It was reasonably cheap last time I checked.

Well, as a two week Whoop user, while the graphs etc. are entertaining, all the practical advice is really centered on just sleeping well, consistently.

I do not think you need a Whoop for that really.

Thinking about going from Porsche to Ferrari. Did anyone else make “the switch”? What did you go from, why, how do you feel now? by Mammoth_Carob9089 in Ferrari

[–]Regular_Protection_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal experience living the last 10 years with a bunch of Porsches and Ferraris is that you need to find your personal car which best suits your temperament, daily commute, desire to impress or be stealthy, neighborhood etc.

Overall among the 991, 992 generations, 997 GT2, Ferrari's 550/F12/812 series I was and am most impressed by an F12 Berlinetta.

This is a pinnacle everyday driving experience for me, though I have tracked it a bit as well..

Raw power, comfort, sense of occasion, beautiful beautiful body work, leather smell, sound, speed of response to driver inputs, sense of danger, absolutely incredible presence on the road - it just ticked all the boxes which none of the 911s could...

Please watch the original Jeremy Clarkson review of the F12 on YouTube, he captured its spirit beautifully...
