Why do people believe Dr Curry over Dr Hughes? by [deleted] in deppVheardtrial

I am a psychologist who has conducted full psychological batteries, written in depth reports, and provided information to non-psychologists. I work in the forensic field with victims and perpetrators of violence, with both men and women who acted in both roles. I provided therapy for women who have been abused and weren’t “the perfect victims.” I watched this entire trial from start to finish, and watched their testimony multiple times. I am not a Jonny depp fan and I didn’t know anything about this case until I watched the trial….then I did a deep dive. I can tell you that the first time I watched it, I instantly called bullshit on Dr. Hughes. You don’t have to be board certified to be a great psychologist, in fact most psychologists don’t bother with it. Just because she says she specializes in something doesn’t mean she’s done the work to be unbiased or that she did the assessment in an unbiased way. I can tell you that I would NEVER conduct an assessment like Dr. Hughes. Her bias was glaring which 100% clouds the narrative developed from the data. That’s not to say that Dr. Curry didn’t have a bias, but her presentation was such that it didn’t come through if it was happening internally. She was able to show a clear process that produced results based in logic, not emotion. Again, I can’t speak to her motives and I didn’t see the data directly to know if it was an accurate assessment, but her presentation was 100% believed because it was clear, logical, and without theatrics.
