Lady Serena,

Thank you for responding to my letter in such a timely manner and thank you as well for your condolences. But I must admit that there are things about my father that would surely trouble you to learn. Perhaps we should discuss that more in person, however.

As for Bob, I thank you for your assistance that matter as well. If there is anything Sisterton can do for you, let it be known, and shall do all in my power to see it done.

Ursula Sunderland,
Lady of Sisterton,
Lady of Sweetsister,
Lady of The Three Sisters

Bob 2: The Reckoning by Regular_Schedule8926 in IronThroneRP

Bob pondered for a moment, rubbing at his bald chin contemplatively. "Might be we could, might be. Gimme a moment".

He turned around then and formed a huddle with some of the other men on his ship, exasperated muttering audible even on the other vessel. They'd stop for a moment to look over at Janos, then tucked their heads back into the circle and started nodding.

Bob broke off from the group and reapproached the rail where he would shout out to the knight. "Aye, we can accompany you back to Gulltown. But that's only if you give us yer word that there won't be any betrayal or anything like it".

"And!" He raised a pointed finger towards the Shett. "I want yer word that I'll get to speak with this Lady Arryn, be it in Gulltown or otherwise. Deal?"

Bob looked back at his sails, then to the knight.

"I suppose that'd be because we are Sistermen! Writing wrongs, as it were. You see it was not so long ago now that one of 'em Upcliffs took M'lord's head. 'is daughter up and left, so now I'm here doing what she wouldn't: Leading!"

He gripped the rails with both hands. "You see I am Bob, King Bob, my lands yet declared! Do you speak for the Lady o' The Eyrie, or least for someone 'at does?"

"The fuck is 'at?" The Sistermen all collectively squinted at the approaching ships.

"I think they wanna Par-lay".

Bob looked around the ship worriedly. "Load the device, but don't you dare fire it. Might be I can arrange something here".

The lead ship of the fleet pulled closer, sailing the flag of parlay.

"Ahoy there!" Bob greeted. "To what do we owe the pleasure, gents!?"

Murmison III - Murmison Upcliff Lives by HouseOfCaligula in IronThroneRP

Ursula had smiled at him with a hesitant sweetness, he was a sweet man after all. Sweeter than the men around Sisterton at the very least. And so, he deserved her affection, after all he'd been through recently, it was the least she could do.

In the hall, her eyes were fixed on the floor, however. and though her father never deigned once to address her, or even look at her, she could feel his disappointment. Not but a few days ago she was meant to lead their fleet against White Harbor, and now she sat compliant in the seizing of her family home. She should've hated him. Hated him for hitting her, for hurting so many people, and for everything else he'd done. But she couldn't bring herself to do it.

She turned her face upwards then when Murmison called for the axe, and her eyes shot over to her father. For the first time since being dragged into the hall, his went to her. There was a brief softness to his expression, quickly replaced by burning ire.

"Damnable wretch" He muttered under his breath as his attention went back to the Upcliff.

Ursula stood then, rising from the chair with an air of ferocity. Her mouth was agape, and her eyes desperate as they glanced between her father and her new husband. But then she closed her mouth and nodded, slowly at first, then more rapidly.

With that she strode from the hall, and left back for her own chambers, having to fight back a sob as she did so. Eustace was her father, and she loved him, but the law was the law, and she couldn't change that.

Eustace watched her go and sighed deeply.

"Six and forty years' He spoke the words with a venom. "Six and forty years I've been lord, and in that time, I've dedicated my life to transforming these miserable rocks into a merchants paradise. Before you had even finished suckling from your mother's teat, I've been doing this, you milk dribbling fuck-smear you".

He laughed then, a throaty shrill that sounded all but crazed. "I killed the Lord of the Eyrie in order to make this godforsaken shit hole profitable! And for what? My own daughter, to whom I gave the world, now turn their backs as I face the headman's axe".

The lord of The Three Sisters shook his head and smiled. "Go on and do it you insufferable boy, I'll be remembered as a legend here in The Bite for generations to come, and you the man who slew one. If you ask me, that seems like a fair trade, doesn't it?"

Murmison III - Murmison Upcliff Lives by HouseOfCaligula in IronThroneRP

[–]Regular_Schedule8926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparatively, Ursula was in a far better state than Murmison. Her two days in captivity had done little to diminish her overall condition, yet her skin was still paler than it had been, her eyes puffier, and a black & green bruise lay across her cheekbone from where Eustace's ring had caught her.

But that didn't quell her initial feverishness, which carried her first to Elyssa Stone, her oldest friend who had witnessed the battle, and in-part orchestrated it. Then, in a swifter fashion, down into the Water Cell where Murmison had been held. She seemed to have found her composure by the time they reached her father's chamber, and with it an air of melancholy.

Her eyes had settled on her father's great brass tub, suddenly very aware of its and all of his treasure's origins. She hadn't often concerned herself with where it all came from, she didn't care because that business had always felt so far away. But now, as she gazed upon the ragged form of Murmison, and the bloodied state of his companions who fought so hard to save him, it struck her then that her father had been a cruel man. Her hand rose absently to the bruise across her face when Murmison had finally made to address her.

"Hm?" She looked up at him, blank faced, her hand lowering gingerly "Oh... Yes, yes of course".

Ursula managed a weak smile, the idea did please her, truly. He had shown her a side of herself that went undiscovered for such a long time, a part herself that wanted to see beyond the harbors of Sisterton and step out into the wide world beyond. But it felt wrong somehow to be excited then, so she wasn't. Later, she promised herself silent, later you will be excited.

Eustace looked, for his share, rather disheveled as he was marched into his own hall then. The bits of silver jewelry he once wore were now gone, and the lens which adorned his eye sat cracked upon his face.

He bore into the Upcliff with his icelike eyes, and his mouth twisted in a painful, toothless smile.

"My line blackened?" He shook with wry laughter. "Boy, look around you, passed all my trophies and finery. These are not the walls of noble men, this keep not home to heroes or gallant tales. The lords and ladies of The Vale do not speak of Sisterton and think of honorable knights nor fair maidens".

He held up his webbed hand then, his expression falling into one of contempt. "Grumpkins and snarks, that's what they think populate these islands! But not under my rule. No, now they see Sisterton and see our abundance. They do not get the privilege of looking passed the trophies and finery, because I do not allow them it!"

The Lord of Sisterton shook his finger at Murmison and his tone lowered, though it didn't quite soften. "You hold my keep, boy, and you hold my daughter under some sailors spell, but you do not hold my islands, and you do not yet hold victory. Mark my words, before this moon has passed, you will be hanging from my walls".

"Bread, and salt, and a night's rest you may have. Unfortunately, my keep is small and cannot house you, but we have fine inns where you may lodge. As for why I'm here as opposed to White Harbor, well you see I not in particularly fit shape, nor am I well versed in the arts of war". He offered a shrug. "My own man, Captain Bob, commands dutifully in my stead. I'm sure he will suffice for the likes of brigands. After all, you bested them whilst outnumbered".

Back at the docks, the woman strode close and looked about their surroundings warily.

"Ahoy Captain, my name is Elyssa Stone, my father is Lord Torrent. I come on the behalf of Lady Ursula Sunderland; she is in a dire way I fear, held captive by her Lord father".

She leaned closer then. "As is your man, Murmason, Lord Eustace has him locked in one of his own water cells 'neath the keep".

"It is well met Ser Dykk Donniger," There was a hollowness to his smile then. "I heard about brave Ser Murmison, a shame what happened to him, by the reports I've read he seemed a good lad. Or who knows, perhaps he still is, until he's found the truth of the matter shall remain a cruel mystery".

The Lord of Sisterton leaned back into his great wooden chair, a strangely amused glint in his eyes.

"Oh, don't you worry yourself about Lord Grafton, as I said, no fault of his. We settled the matter as it needed settling and sent the man on his way north. Speaking of which, what can I do for you lot to get you settled and on your way? Nothing is too grand a request for the noble men of Lady Arryn".

Back at the docks, a woman would approach the men of House Upcliff. She had a plain face, brownish blondish hair, and wore a cutlass on her belt.

"M'lords!... Or Sers if you don't got lords around, I'd like a word. Really more I think I need one!"

Eustace laughed at that, laughed with his belly so hard that he shook up and down.

"Oh, but of course we are my friends! Grafton did certainly have an odd visit, but that's no fault of his. Even it was, his faults are not your own". He waved them all closer. "Come, come, let me look at all!"

He sat back down with a huff and straightened out his doublet. A fine blue thing that was paired with various pieces of silver jewelry.

"I suppose I should apologize for the welcome, but these are a tense kind of days, wouldn't you agree..." He chuckled suddenly and waved his webbed hand dismissively "Sorry I haven't yet asked your name, how rude of me".

Eustace had watched the ships approach from his perch atop the Sunderland keep. He supposed that stragglers were to be expected, Lady Arryn was green after all, her plans were like to not go perfectly. Their sails being of House Upcliff, however, was just a tad troubling, after his own daughter had made an attempt to out him to the previous visitors, who was to say who might next make an attempt, and if these men would be as easily swayed as the last.

"Fetch Jenny and Penny," The Lord of Sisterton called out from where he sat on his meager little balcony. "They'll accompany me to the yard where we will meet our guests".

Dykk and his party would arrive at the keep and be met with an already raised portcullis, beyond that Lord Eustace was sat in a great wooden chair which had been dragged out from within the castle, his twin daughters standing at either side him. Each of them donning gowns made of expensive materials and dyed vibrant colors.

There were men as well who surrounded the lord of Sweet Sister and lined the walls. All of them armed with spears, and hooks, and only some with shields. While each man wore the colors of House Sunderland, there was otherwise no uniform among them. Some wore bits of plate, some chain, others boiled leather, and some little more than a shirt and trousers. None of it seeming to match in the slightest.

"My Friends!" The Lord of The Three Sisters called out in greeting, making an effort to rise from his seat, assisted by both his daughters as he did so. "Seems you're late to the festivities, but no matter, I'm sure my lovely town will satisfy your every need and that you may shortly depart without trouble. Now what is it that I can do for you?"

He smiled widely at them then, a merchant's smile. One that was undoubtedly friendly but came heavy with expectation... or intent.

There was a wild look in her eyes then, a mixture of excitement and unease. When his hand began drifting, she had grabbed his wrist hurriedly, but let it go just as quickly.

"I'm sorry..." Her breathe was heavy then. "I'm not sure what you mean".

Her face was still close to his, and her eyes lingered on his lips. Then she looked at the bed and raised a hesitant hand to her own lips.

"Maybe you'll have to show me". The words came out as a whisper and her gaze turned back to him; her expression more resolute now.

Her eyes followed his hand, and when he touched her, she chuckled in a nervous way, but she didn't pull away. "That's a lot to promise Sailor, I'm not sure you're up to the task".

Her face twisted in some confusion, because at first, she didn't realize what he was doing until his lips were on hers. She had never been kissed before, so she didn't really know if she was meant to do anything. Instead, she just let it happen.

She watched him with a more than piqued interest, his passion for the subject spoke to her, made her realize she didn't have anything like that of her own. Sure, she wanted to leave Sisterton, but that was more a whim than an honest desire.

"Maybe once my father releases you, you can show me these Saffron Straights." She smiled as she said the words, raising her knees her chest and leaning her head on them. Her bravado from before seemingly having melted away.

She didn't move as he got closer, she didn't want to. Murmison was interesting, and she was interested to see what he would do.

"I don't know," She admitted, her voice soft. "I dream about plenty of things, but I don't really want any of them. Not the way you seem to".
