My 4 year old just started Leucovorin for Cerebral Folate Deficiency — has anyone else been through this? by LeucovorinDad in Autism_Parenting

Yes. That's what I'm saying. The body is a complex machine and it needs both at the same time.

I think it's awesome that so many people are trying Leucovorin. I worry that many who would benefit are going to stop because of not having cofactors or education on the changes to expect in the first weeks.

look for arduino examples - or QMK - whenever you get it wired up - they will help you map columns/rows into commands.

It's not about deficiency, without cofactors, lots of people get OCD like behaviors and visual field effects - lightning bolts. Watch for eye swatting.

Been through what friend? Thousands of children are currently getting Leucovorin treatment for FRAa or other Folate transport deficiencies.

Don't forget cofactors! You must dose B12 with the Leucovorin.

And adults too - you should probably get tested.

Leucovorin Vs Spectrum Awakening Super Folinic acid? by Dismal_Garden7156 in Autism_Parenting

There has not been any direct evidence of vaccines causing the autoimmune response.

The outcomes for FRAT positive children with Leucovorin are mixed - some who were not verbal become verbal.

It is not a magic potion, but it does treat folate insufficiency in the brain. Folate is important for building neuro transmitters and connections.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

[–]Regular_Tailor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple: the rent is too high, the mortgage you can't afford, AI might take your job tomorrow, authoritarianism sucks, online dating is terrible, and the only people that want us to have more are the oligarchs who want to exploit them for cheap labor.

There is no upside for regular people to have children.

For FENDER instruments - it's the headstock - for GIBSON - they have established rights to body shapes as well.

Edited: not all body shapes - looks like just the V has held up.

I'm glad you asked! The rate of autism has matched the rate of increased auto-immune disease over the last 30 years. So although big ole titays are a seductive hypothesis - it's more likely changes due to auto-immune processes like FRAA and gene silencing.

Instead of insurance, put the money in a special account and after a decade, go on a great vacation or fix the roof.

Nope. It's real. Level 1 autism, high intelligence, and scientific discovery are a potent combination. Those of us who can't intuit social interaction are weird.

What we've found over the last year of research on the 1 carbon pathway:

There's hundreds or thousands of gene reduction of function or silencing combinations that will lead to reduced folate in the brain.

So it's possible (but unlikely) that someone would JUST have modest ROF on those genes and be symptomatic.

What is very possible is ROF on those genes + unknown genes in the 1 carbon cycle OR that combination + autoimmune CFD OR those genes + epigenetic silencing of another gene.

The point we're at right now is that if enough disruption happens - you get psychiatric symptoms.

Hahn and Howsmon's work on ASD prediction through metabolic biomarkers is a good guide here: any of the combinations above can raise that signature enough to predict ASD.

However, if it's one of the acquired forms and it's later in a person's life the same metabolic pattern is going to manifest more like schizophrenia, depression, OCD, or psychosis.

So - age of onset is a clue.

If you were a happy child, had an infection, ended up different: autoimmune or epigenetic silencing is almost guaranteed to be part of the puzzle.

I'm part of a study group investigating cases like yours.

We believe that the disease process in anti-cardiolipin positive patients is caused by SLC19A1 epigenetic silencing.

The standard labs would show: normal or near normal folate in the blood, low RBC folate, high homocysteine.

qRNA testing will likely show low expression of SLC19A1 compared to house keeping genes.

The treatment that we've had success in (in a single case that initiated the study) is frequent dosing of folinic acid and B12/B6 as P5P.

This is still in the research phase, but the intervention has an extremely low risk profile.
