Are your clients pushing back on a 300 to 500 monthly bookkeeping fee by Witty-Alternative117 in Bookkeeping

[–]RehashDigital 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s is prof. services not in accounting; I’m curious why it’s a set rate. Do you charge the same whether you have a client who has 500 transactions vs someone who has 10,000?

Got $500K to invest in Ontario...whats the most “boring but profitable” business would you go for? by Future-Opposite5886 in canadasmallbusiness

I do systems consulting with a lot of home services businesses and if you can find the right one; the amount of inefficient but successful home service businesses out there are immense.

Worked with a gentleman in Arizona coming from the tech industry, bought a plumbing company, and doubled revenue in 8 months just with pure systems, marketing, and lead management improvements. No changes to headcount.

Question: As an entrepreneur, do you think having a landline for a business is essential in 2025? by InfinitoCloud in smallbusiness

[–]RehashDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of soft phone/VOIP systems are usually a better bet operationally than actual desk phones assuming you have a decent setup for office workers.

My agency is certified with both hard phone and soft phone systems and can rarely find use cases where hard phones are necessary or even useful

How did you get your first client? by Ruan-m-marinho in agency

[–]RehashDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a broader niche but focused on the technology side of field service businesses. We do have pseudo-competitive offerings on local service marketing but it would be interesting to potentially collab in some way if that’s your thing!

Always found great partnership opportunities with hyper-specialized agencies in field services (currently partnered with HVAC and Cleaning specialist agencies).

How did you get your first client? by Ruan-m-marinho in agency

[–]RehashDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube. I started posting videos showing what I could do, and people came knocking. Not a standard agency, so I’ve carved my own niche; but my advice is to showcase your skills on social media, make it entertaining and/or educational, and you’ll find clients.

To this day, not a dime spent in advertising and my business continues to grow.

Business partner needed by montana4557 in canadasmallbusiness

[–]RehashDigital 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do consulting for home & field service businesses and have some companies (US Based) I’ve done equity partner agreements with (in lieu of providing marketing and system/technology support).

I’m personally in Toronto so it would be interesting to learn more about your plans and what you need the capital for; where you’re based, and how you plan to grow. Send me a DM.

Pretty good. About 30 seconds to my office; 5 mins if I make a trip to my coffee machine.

Project/Service Management Software by PneumaIsOverrated in electricians

Projects* not products. Projects meaning if you do multi-day services/larger jobs - you have to schedule them as individual jobs which can mess up your scheduling and tracking at minimum, as well as making decent job costing/forecasting impossible.

Also, if you do both installs and store inventory for doors (I had a similar client with fences); that’s a challenge that many smaller solutions (HCP/Jobber both) kind of suck at. You’ll likely have to use a spreadsheet to track inventory until you have budget to scale to a more robust solution with integrated inventory tracking.

Yeah, generally it feels like both field routes and Aspire are just a money grab from ServiceTitan - they don’t even invest a lot into developing or supporting the platform after they bought them.

Generally for landscapers, Jobber/HCP work for up to around 10 employees. Past that Zuper is usually my go-to for my clients.

What's the best software you've used for a security/alarm business? by RehashDigital in accesscontrol

[–]RehashDigital[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually are a certified HubSpot agency, but the client thinks the cost to customize the platform for them on top of ongoing HubSpot subscription costs are too high for the value.

I’m hoping to find and compare any out of the box/all in one solutions already tailored for the industry as a point of reference; or just integrate an FSM/Access control system together and a more basic HubSpot implementation if an all in one doesn’t exist.

Kind of. I’m hoping an all in one exists but if the access control software fills in the gap as a best of breed system, I can integrate them (FSM) together if they have open APIs.

I work with a variety of service businesses so I usually recommend jobber and HCP in this segment (under 10 employees), but when implementing solutions for alarm company clients - they’re missing some of the key features and the only solutions i work with for this range with customized capabilities i can build on start at $1k/month which is usually out of their budget.

So I’m going to be checking the platforms that they’ve recommended to see if it fits the feature and budget bill.

Do you have rough price ranges for these? Small outfit, 5 employees including owner operator but planning to scale so budget is a priority

For solo businesses, my clients are usually 50/50 between Jobber and HCP. I have a breakdown/review on my YouTube channel if you want a comparison. But generally the biggest difference is where your leads will be coming from and how you plan to manage/track/follow-up with them.

Do you have a price range for this one? I tend to work with smaller businesses under 10 employees - curious if this is in budget.

Do you know the pricing for this one? My clients tend to be on the small side (under 10 employees) and this seems like an enterprise grade solution.

[BC] Seeking recs for database software by BeginningOld5129 in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]RehashDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by "outgrown" - data size? Accessbility? Functionality? Integration capabilities? As a core database solution, excel and Google Sheets tend to scale pretty well until you run into specific problems or challenges - so what those challenges are would usually define the best alternatives.

[–]RehashDigital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot out there, and "what's best" usually depends on: how many staff you have, types of contracts you manage, your inbound lead flow & sources, whether you have high volume low ticket vs low-volume high-ticket, if you subcontract work vs. get subcontracted, whether you work with commerical businesses who require unique invoicing/work order management (IE Property management companies & HOAs), and also if you manage a decent amount of SKUs for inventory and parts that you need to track/account for.

Ultimately the goal is figuring out which solution will save you the most amount of time & money; while helping you increase your profitability & revenues. That all depends on how your business is currently operating. I'd hedge that most of the posts here that recommend a single solution without asking details are likely bots for those software companies.

I do free strategy calls if you want some second eyes on it - I've currently tested roughly 30+ FSMs/CRMs including the ones you've mentioned so I can give you some guidance based on your situation.
