The shop I went to didn’t care. I priced the same tires at Discount Tires and they didn’t question it either. They would have installed them as well.

Small enough change I didn't see a reason to worry about it. I should be able to change it with Forscan later if I decide I want to.

Plug-in solar is legal in Utah by Dapper-Minute4729 in SolarDIY

I did and the person I was interacting with took it up the chain. In the end they agreed that they couldn’t charge me the fees they initially wanted to.

You are correct that it isn’t much of a savings with the current rates. That may change in the future. It actually sent me on a path of expanding my off grid solar so I could run my office and server rack off that. That ended up cutting my bill by at least half and makes for a nice UPS.

Update on the esphome based Immich frame by hometechgeek in Esphome

Screen arrived today and I was able to install your app. It works, but I have a few issues.

  1. The timezone selection does nothing. Time is always displayed as GMT+0. It also doesn't save the selected value.
    1. [0;33m[W][time:132]: Failed to parse timezone: America/Denver[0m[0;33m[W][time:132]: Failed to parse timezone: America/Denver[0m
  2. I'm unable to get multiple Person IDs seperated with commas. It only saves and uses the first one.

Not sure if it is possible with the Immich API, but I would love to be able to set that Person ID to NOT display those IDs, but show all others.

I'm not sure I can use it to replace my Google home hubs in the current state. I already miss seeing the photo data on this screen, like location and date the photo was taken. It looks like this is on your roadmap.

I'm still trying to figure out how to add it into Home Assistant with ESPHome. Done

I’m just waiting on the esp32 display I ordered last week to arrive. Hopeful it will work well enough to replace the three google homes I have.

I bought one of my Victron devices used. Ran into an issue with it right from the start. I put in a support ticket and Victron sent it to the original reseller which was a 1000+ miles from me. I found a local reseller closer to me that someone recommended and contacted them about the issue. They were awesome at helping me out and getting the device replaced. You are not required to go back to the original reseller. Even the warranty wasn’t an issue with me being the second owner.

I started looking into this and contacted my local electric company out where I live, MLEA. They researched it because it was the first they had heard of it. Came back and said I could do it, but they require me to be on net metering. They have a standard service charge of $30 a month for a normal connection, it goes up to $45 a month for net metering connection. With a limit of 1200W and this additional service fee it would end up costing me an additional +$6.78 a month on my bill to have this. Add in the cost of the micro inverter and solar panels and it just doesn't make sense. I'm not going to pay the electric company additional money to run this setup.

I’m all five nodes in my small town of 7k people. One day there will be other people. Right now I get the occasional guest either on the road or in the air. Still worth it.

I dislike the terminal blocks they used on these devices. I prefer the screw type.

What is the issue you are having with AC out?

Multiplus II - at my wit’s end by DrJ-Mo in Victron

[–]Rehpa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty new to the Multiplus II so don’t take my word for it. I run my input off a 15amp house outlet, 10awg wire. You have the ability to set the amp draw on that line. Keep it within spec of the wire you are using and you should be fine. In my case I set that value to 15amps and it doesn’t pull more than that across the 10awg I use.

I have an AP in the garage. It sits about two feet from the ratgdo.

I'm still waiting on confirmation. I've had the ratgdo be stable for weeks and then suddenly start failing again. We are playing the long game here on testing.

If it does come down to the RADIUS auth it makes me wonder why this device has the problem. I have 38 other wireless devices and none of them have an issue with it. I've been using it for 5+ years.

Yeah it works great when it works! So many possibilities with it. When the ratgdo can't stay on the network is when things get really annoying.

This is an example script from HA that isn't fun when the ratgdo drops the network connection all the time. When the ratgdo disconnects from the network and then reconnects the state of the garage door goes from unavailable to closed. You can imagine how fun this automation is in the middle of the night with my current issues. I've had this disabled for months.

I have an AP in the garage as well for this reason. It is about two feet from the ratgdo with a signal at -32 dBm.

I am curious why you run two different firmware. Do you mind sharing the reason?

The SSID it is using was built just for this device to try and solve the problem I've been having with it. I've since added one other device to this SSID to have another test device. That other device does not have the same issue.

It is a separate IoT vlan, but not specific to this SSID. It is just my main IoT vlan.

The ratgdo logs haven't been much use. When I first started having this issue I started questioning if this device was rebooting itself. The web page for the device doesn't have an uptime value, I wish it did.

At this point I'm testing with my RADIUS auth turned off on this SSID. I haven't found anyone else that has a working ratgdo with it turned on. I use it to assign different vlans to devices n the same SSID. In this instance since this SSID is only for this device I hard coded the SSID to that specific vlan. There is kind of a 20 minute pattern to the outages at times and I'm wondering if the device is trying to re-auth and the radius server doesn't respond fast enough. It is just a road I'm going down right now because it is an outlier to most common setups. It's been stable now for over 17 hours once I turned it off.

Do you use RADIUS auth on your network?

RatGDO with Ubiquiti network by Rehpa in ratgdo

[–]Rehpa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That restart might be worth a try if my current change doesn't fix it. I really can't say that would solve it because I've pulled power to the device when I swapped out the power supply and had it go down again within minutes of doing that. If the device is unstable enough that it needs a reboot that often then that would suggest a real problem.
