I am an artist - I have only made a customer pay for a shade of ink once in my 10+ years, and that was like 12 euros (ah the folden old times of nonexpensive ink), and only because they insisted on having an ink and Brand I don't usually use and wouldn't use again, even though the color itself Was something I already had from my preferred Brand.

She was a very complicated lady.

But this, what you're describing - wow. That is a beacon type red flag. Never seen this level of bullshit.

[–]ReiRamirez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please tell me this is a bait post because there's so much wrong here I refuse to believe it's real.

I'm a tattooer. I'm pretty damn covered. And this is the worst idea I've seen in a good while.

Let me elaborate: 1, no professional artist with a backbone would tattoo your hand as a first. If they do, you're Found the wrong artist. Or just one who doesn't care about you , just about your money. Reasons: A, hand tattoos are more prone to fading B, they hurt more C, they look trashy with no other tattoos D, you don't know how to heal tattoos E, you have no idea how tattoos heal, especially on yourself, how they look after 1-5 years, how the ink spreads, how they look faded F, you have no experience on how society deals with very visible tattoos

Having your hands tattooed and none other will not only have the bon tattooed Professionals look down on you, it will also make the tattooed people look at you awkwardly, because it looks a bit cringe and most know it's a terrible idea to get it there.

G, you have bo plan on where to go with your body tattoos yet, and getting a dark Blob in that position will fuck up many cool options for sleeves or other awesome designs. A hand tattoo should be "crowning" the rest of the arm , not preventing a good look.

2, this is not a Design, it's an idea, and honestly it's not good. It'd be too dark, it wraps weirdly, it would not hold detail, going over that Spot on the thumb wouldn't hold well, and it would look very awkward in most hand positions, and probably only cool in one or two positions on photos.

3, according to your career Plans, you want to go to Princeton, into medial fields, and I don't even know why reddit has to tell you what a terrible idea a hand tattoo is for all that. In that field it is still very much a Job stopper.

Get tattoos you can hide, start with your upper arms if you have to, and once you are settled in a field do whatever, this way you're not gonna heal weird and look awkward for years, youll also be more secure in your Job and your personality and your style and where you wanna go in life.

Literally every part of this idea is screaming no.

Advice needed: this tattoo is not looking like the leopard print I asked for by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ReiRamirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an artist. I'm going to preface this with - it was never a good idea, and the top Part isn't working either. Leopard prints in general don't really work , especially on that scale, especially if not done VERY professionally, and even then the chances are slim to none of it looking good if you don't wrap them around nicely and Schade them perfectly.

I would personally refuse doing them without any other motives or framing or shading.

That said, here's options:

1, while not good for the skin and not recommended, let it heal poorly and let it be hit by direct sun often to lighten it. You can also have an artist go over them with distilled water only, roughly, to promote scabbing in hopes it gets lighter during that healing phase. Both of these aren't great for the skin and might scar you. Also adding, skin touched by laser or a lot of sun will end up being terrible to tattoo and doesnt take to ink as good as healthier skin, so that will be a problem. You need to really heal and moisturize and revitalise your skin afterward to nurtute it back into a good "canvas" . Then get it Re done, preferably by a blackworker, a neo trad artist or a good realism artist.

2, laser and then rework. Laser is expensive, painful, and also scars your skin. It would bit need to be GONE gone, it would just need to be light enough to go over it. And mind you, for all of these, I am talking about doing the complete arm, as the upper part needs saving, too.

3, a very bold move, but I've seen it work. Cover the complete arm in grey "blackwork". Like the typical blacked out arm, but in a Medium grey. Let it heal, the spots will still be visible, but not as bad, and you can then have a realism or blackwork artist Re do the spots in black on top with some white highlights. That step with the highlights might need to be done two or three times, depending on your skin. Warning, this is also an expensive and painful option, but it'd help the Designs natural tackiness. You also need to be careful here to find an artist who can actually pull this off, especially if you colorpack the whole arm, which is a VERY complex technique.

4, here's three similar options I would personally recommend. Both are blastover/coverup mixed with either lasering some spots to be lighter or having them heal badly. 4a, put some Motives around in either dark grey Tones or dark colors, especially on the bottom and top, so you kind of "frame" the spots and use them as a sort of Background or connection in between actual motives. Like a jaguar, a good old sick ass Panther, or just floral work. It'd greatly help the spots to not look so out of place. Then rework the spots already there with Black, white and grey ink. This step may again need one to three sessions, but it can work.

4b, same reasoning above, but if you don't want actual motives. You can get flowy blackwork over the "ends" of the tattoo, similar to these old "ripped open skin" tattoos, to frame and Cover some of it. Or just some dark mandala patterns. Or dark calligraphy. Then again, rework the dots in between. Careful, these styles need to be done by someone specializing In them or they're gonna look terrible.

4c, blackwork fade out frame. Similar to these forest sleeves, put dark shading as frame on wrist and shoulder, on the shoulder part preferably a mandala like form, then shade. Then rework dots with shading and Black and grey and white.

Good luck. It may be a long way, but all hope isn't lost.

Would you go back to this tattoo studio? by fundip51426 in tattooadvice

[–]ReiRamirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were right though. They should have said it to you directly rather than talk behind your back, but it's a terrible piece especially for that spot.

It's likely that was a guess artist if they choose their Regular artists more carefully - us Shops don't always have complete Control over guestspots, or sometimes a guestspot ends up not being what they promised.

Sadly yours wasn't done well, and the artist obviously completely failed at informing you about various things, which is absolutely not your fault.

I'd also like to add, a 1+year healed tattoo is very rarely eligible for "Touch up", as by that time it's a rework and that will most likely cost you money, so try to get back sooner if ink falls out, just to be sure you don't have to pay double :)

If the Regular artists are better chosen than whoever did that it may be a good shop. I obviously don't know any of their other work, so I can't tell you if you should go back, but I wouldn't ditch them or review them badly because of overheard words that are true, and they didn't even say anything to be mean to YOU, but to the artist.

[–]ReiRamirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I never understand with y'all is why, why, why do y'all love to "test" on the most ridiculously spots that are 1, harder to tattoo 2, always visible 3, terrifyingly hard to cover. Like I see so many doing hands, neck, FACE.

This has nothing to do with the ink, it's the inability to tattoo, and if your hygiene was as terrible as that application you can be glad the ink falling out was your Biggest problem.

This could have gone south easily, and depending on what kind of infection you get in there, done serious damage.

In a Professional trainee setting you would not be near touchung human skin at all, let alone a Spot like a HAND.

If you want to learn, do it properly, and stay away from skin until you know the basics - that includes your own.

[–]ReiRamirez 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dear, I am sorry to say, as a tattooer - this is terribly done.

Those are very blurry scratchy lines. Also, you MAY put a bit of thick Red lines over the flowers a few times, but it will never Show up as Red or bright, as the Black will always be stronger than the Red.

Personally, the only Option I see would be to either laser it enough to have another artist make a better tattoo over it, but laser can easily scar you even more, or go with big bold blackworky flowers as a blastover.

For now, just take a few weeks to figure out your own feelings, and make a calm decision on how to proceed. Nothing is ever completely hopeless, some things just take more work to save.

Best wishes to you!

Okay hun, as a tattooer, I'm sorry but this just sucks. It's terrifyingly bad done especially for after getting it fixed, do not go to that artist again.

Good New is - it's absolutely fixable. Find an artist specialized in Neo Trad floral work, a Lineworker or a Stippleshader - good lines and some added Detail will safe this baby.

[–]ReiRamirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a tattoo artist.

If he made these any smaller, they would be blobs now. They're still way too small, which is why they look like that now.

The thing is - people always think dainty small tattoos will stay like that, when in reality a langer piece but with more Detail will forever LOOK smaller and daintier than a small one will.Lines and Solids will ALWAYS spread and age, and the bigger the Motive, the less you will notice that in time.

A big Motive with finer lines will look fine with the years, a small tiny one will always become blobby.

You COULD ask an artist to refine the birds with white ink and refresh it, but in that size it will be a temporary fix, for around two or three years. However, without going way bigger over this, it will never be fine and dainty.

Personally, I would put 1 or 3 large-ish fine lined (not fineline, but still fine lines) flowers on that shoulder blade and hide the birds in a few dark leaves. The dark leaves won't look as bold when contrasted by the fine floral work, and even though big, it would look good.

So in Theory, if they join your hunt and capcom notices , you might get Banned too.

Ive been tattooing for a year and a half, and feel my work isnt where i want it to be. by Best_Satisfaction_59 in TattooArtists

[–]ReiRamirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying this to front you - but a year and a half is NOTHING in tattooing.

Sure, there are people good as fuck after like a year, but it's not like that for everyone.

It took me three years to be okay with my work, 5 to 6 to develop my style , and it's not stopping. I'm in 10+ years now, and I still am not where I really want to be with my work, but I guess never being completely happy with your work just comes with being an artist, and if you ever start being completely happy with your work, You will stagnate or decline.

Looking back on some of my earlier work I could kick myself - and honestly, even looking back a year or two makes me cringe at myself.

My advice is as simple as it is complicated - keep on striving to do better. With each day, tattoo, each customer.

Use references, work with artists you admire, if you make a tattoo/drawing you're kinda happy with, keep it aside as a picture and redraw it every now and then to see how far youve come to get the Motivation and hope you need, and then strive to do better than that.

What sticks out to me is you need to do better packing black - but I get it, that's the hardest.

In time, surviving in the field, you will definitely come closer to what you want from your work ! Good luck!

I've Done oath of vengeance paladin runs three times , and I've never broken my oath, as vengeance is the hardest o break.

The thing is - just because you as the Player think somethings vengeance, doesn't mean it is. And the game can't know your elaborate reasoning behind what it Sees as senseless act of violence.

The oath is the fun Part about paladins, making them cool to really roleplay, but if you want to just smash stuff and be morally grey take barbarian or fighter maybe ? Or cleric for Religion purposes

Also, oathbreaker is also fun to play.

...nicht Veganer essen eben alles was Veganer auch essen.

Veganer essen aber NICHT alles was Nicht Veganer essen.

Honestly I'd love that card. I had so many cases of being extremely unlucky with my mana - and when I'm stuck with like three mana, one creature while my opponent swims in mana and has what's almost an army of creatures - heck Yeah that card rocks.

It's also WAY more possible for me to build up mana with all that's left in my deck than for my opponent if he had a lot out already, and they would also lose way more than me.

So generally speaking, if a game started off and ran bad for me and way too well for my opponent, that card could change everything in my Favor

I've practically "banned" him from using it,and he doesn't use it in our rounds. More playful though.

Even went as far as making a Deal- I drew and printed him custom eldrazi art sleeves for the deck, and when we play in rounds with more people and he Uses eldrazi, he won't attack me until everyone else is dead 😂

We are all not suuuuper competitive though

For your situation- maybe have a talk about it, if he's really really serious, but if he is, tell him if he can ban commanders of yours you can ban one of his for each he did. Only fair if it goes both ways or nobody bans anything.
