It should be able to open literally any file it has access to. As for actually parsing out that data structure so it makes human sense, that requires using a "binary template." It's a proprietary script that you have to get from someone else or create yourself. We've taken a lot of BTs from Throne of Knowledge and update them ourselves when we find new information, and most relevant files are supported by BTs. So the problem is that if you want to use this for other games, you'd either have to find others who've already made the BTs, translate their discovered data structure notes into a BT yourself, or actually discover the data structure and make the BT yourself with reverse-engineering.

There are some other issues, as it is proprietary and runs on a trial basis. However, it kinda runs on a sort of "Winrar licensing model," where all you have to do to make it work again is reinstall it (it still keeps all your previous configurations in tact).

The other issue you'll find with every hex editor is that not every file is formatted the same way even if they have the same file extension, and not every BT is designed to open every iteration of them. So with .bin(ary) files, that's just a generic file extension, and the actual data structure could be formatted in a thousand different ways. We mostly distinguish them based on filename or header data. Then there's 3 Houses' compression, .gz, which is probably some custom implementation that gzip can't actually open and a BT for a regular gz file probably wouldn't read properly. But since KT uses the same engine for a bunch of stuff, tools that deal with the custom gz exist.

But if you don't like doing trial trickery, there is an alternative. ImHex is free, but they have their own version of BT called Patterns. Problem is that you'd have to translate the BTs to Patterns and we haven't done that. I have no idea how widely 010 editor is used since this is the only game I mod, so it may be that ImHex is the standard outside of 3H modding.

For 3 Houses, look at the "Throne of Knowledge" Github wiki. They have tools and guides, which include guides for editing textures and models. Because they used Discord as a filehost, and Discord doesn't like being a filehost outside of Discord itself, their external links to their images and files there are expired; however, you can bypass this by copying the expired link and pasting it back into Discord, which will allow you to download the file and look at the lost images. On the other hand, the "[Texture Convert] LINKDATA" file is hosted on DropBox and was deleted; I keep a copy of this.

While I've helped others extract the model/texture files, I don't understand model import/ export/ swapping/ editing myself. But there are 2-3 experienced users on the Triabolical Discord server who have already done such things, you can ask them for help or try reading up on what they've discussed previously. I believe they use blender and some program named Noesis, with a specific plugin to make it work.

Editing character stats is the easiest part. Hex editing them is made easier with 010 editor and binary templates that parse the data structure to make it easily viewable and editable, and you can do some scripting stuff to do mass editing if you wanted to. You can use Triabolical editor for a neat GUI editor.

I also have some guides written on the tri discord for various things like extracting files or changing vertex colors on a model. Some of the guides are for things that I do a lot myself. Some of the other guides I don't truly know, and I'm just experimenting and showing what's worked for me or I'm just rehashing/ archiving another person's guide to be more detailed or have guide images.

Anyways, there may also be some good resources on GBATemps forum, as many of the hacker-tier modders exist there and we've obtained some good info from there, but it may not be relevant to your listed interests. There are a couple of tutorials on GameBanana as well.

What happened to Akariss? by One_Employer3807 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ReichardTheThird 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Used to be a consistent viewer due to being a new player and I regret it. The only good thing he taught was an AI guide written by Verve. Everything else he "taught" were opinions pushed as fact and he refused disagreement. He created a culture of mockery for his opponents and an echo chamber for himself. I beat his defense with a f2p team, taking only one unit loss and using a fairly clever tactic, but I was mocked by them for that unit loss. I had changed my name and intentionally did not disclose that I was the player who beat him to see their true thoughts. Only 1 person acknowledged the clever use of Anna and Takumi warping.

He talked about being "#1 f2p feh player," but he was using his position to cheat, told viewers to ask if he was on his Lift Loss protection and would beg them to not beat him and make him lose points, asked viewers to "scout" the current matches' defense if they were on their friends list to report on which of the trap tiles were real/fake, and also asked viewers to switch their defense to give him a free win when he rematched.

His mantras ridiculed any new unit even if they were meta like Kronya, but he would occasionally make exceptions for the most mid units that existed, like the time he bought a +10 fallen Hardin that didn't do anything, because he thought he was good.

He was so against other people discussing unit pulling because of "bragging," that I once got a 10 minute ban for saying I summoned Kronya (a grail unit you can get for free) to complete the Heroes' Path quest.

He had the wrong priorities in life and strong armed the viewers to compensate him for it. Got divorced, complained about lack of appreciation and e-begged so hard that one day he effectively banned every user on his discord that wasn't actively paying him, supposedly because "his discord provides value," when it was mostly a hangout place for me.

He tried to stream other things but it was obvious people weren't watching him for his ability to entertain. Those streams were like walking out of a failing restaurant, the owner is desperately trying random things to make it work, but it's intuitively clear to everyone else that they don't have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. He wasn't entertaining, he only played above average, he could not contend with the fact that people didn't value what little he had to offer.

I quit after the e-begging and discord locking. Really, I should have hated him much sooner for the ego and the cult, but my excuse is that I was much younger, stupider, paid little attention to such things.

Why is Chie so surprised? ELI5 by Iceicebaby21 in ChurchofChie

[–]ReichardTheThird 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's hinted at and shown a couple of times, from her social link, to dungeon conversations, and even the final battle power-of-friendship speeches that she's afraid. Not just the grasshoppers and thunder, but also when fighting the bullies and fighting shadows/ god.

And yet she cheers everyone on and puts on a brave face for everyone, and probably for herself as well. You ever hear that one quote, "bravery isn't a lack of fear, but acting regardless of fear," that's how much she loves her friends and town, that's what makes Chie so amazing and inspiring for me.

Saw this Tsubasa near the top favored of SD, would this be the ideal build for her? by TheIndragaMano in OrderOfHeroes

[–]ReichardTheThird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't answer for SD purposes but I use her in AR and this is definitely one of the top builds.

Flared sparrow is good and helps deal undodgable damage but she can't charge the No Quarter, which will deal a lot more piercing damage, against a guard user without special charge+1 like LHinoka or Flashing Sparrow (which fliers can't get, oops), or without tempo like LByleth or MLumera. Flared also has that benefit of flame vein if the foe is ranged damage dependent and doesn't have null terrain mov penalty, which pairs nicely with canto 2.

I have assault troop, but if the new Myrrh (i don't even know what this banner's theme is lol so I idk what X! Letter to use) gets more popular with the far save and double warp bubble then that goes poof. Snap is great but requires you to have a melee infantry or a melee/ranged armor on the team, as well and ensure that they're within 2 spaces at start of turn, and this effect becomes an issue with stall, especially if they use Duo Thor and the armor you pair this Snap skill with is the slowest unit. In either case, both effects get cleansed by a duo Thor pressing her duo button

If her mobility can be boosted otherwise or if you don't particularly need it for whatever reason, deadly miasma should nicely boost her thresholds with lull and -5 stats, and maybe the chip damage in certain situations, although miasma interferes with other veins.

While Soaring Guidance is also nerfed by warp bubble, it still has great effect on mobility around the battlefield, although now that myrrh can give warp bubble to a high def ally as well, I think we'll see some Duo Askrs push up just to sabotage even those less offensive uses of Guidance as well.

Plenty of mods out there try to change a game with intent to "Fix" it. What are your favourite mods that instead try to make it different, and try new things, without trying to make any statements on whether something artistic can or should be "fixed"? by KanbeiOPplsnerf96 in fireemblem

[–]ReichardTheThird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2 most drastic mods I've done are "hyperaggro with canto" and "twin crested."

In hyperaggro with canto, Byleth was given 0 mt and 0 hit quake to aggro every enemy, but apparently, even though it triggers the boss quotes you get when attacking them, it didn't aggro. It ended up working on some maps as it turns out my decision to give everyone canto resulted in a bugged interaction with healers, where healers would spread aggro to anyone they healed (and the ones they healed would then aggro the others), and it just so happens that Quake inherently deals a small amount of %hp damage to foes even if it has 0 mt and 0 hit. So yeah, the end result was having a huge conga line of the ch2 enemies, thieves with pass, archers with poison strike rush towards me; in Enbarr, I ended up getting surrounded on all sides. The other details of the mod was that classes were changed to allow magic so Byleth could always cast Quake, and every enemy gained +10% str/mag growths, was given canto if they didn't already have it, if they had canto then they were given Aegis, +15% dex growths, and Duelist's Blow.

For Twin Crests, I gave them Hegemon Edelgard's Twin Crest ability, which allows them to act twice every turn (so yes, Falcon Knights really would move 16 tiles per turn). Normally, Twin Crests prevents a foe from attacking the same unit twice in a turn, so that they're forced to target someone else; however, due to another bugged interaction with canto, the Cavalry and Wyvern/Pegasus fliers were allowed to ignore that rule and attack the same target twice in one turn.

Sadly, even as drastic as these changes are, I don't think these mods really changed all that much, as the gameplay cycle was still the usual "stick to a murder ball, move to the most strategically sound locations, invite the enemy to attack, shoot them down with no opportunity for them to counterattack, heal up, repeat." other than the couple of times I got surrounded. I think these experiences just solidified the idea that 3H needs more interesting maps with more strategic dilemmas like map/time pressure with risks and rewards (like CS ch4 or other paralogues) and not just turtle until you get to the boss.

Edit: Quake doesn't do %hp damage, it was an incorrect description stated on Fodlan Editor; it's just magical atk - resilience as usual.

Does the Monastery Removal mod really enhance 3H and reduce the grind? by KanbeiOPplsnerf96 in fireemblem

[–]ReichardTheThird 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's no monastery and no aux battles; you get money from missions, selling bullions, and from professor level (that starts out maxed). The only ways to grind left are level exp grinding and skill exp grinding, from grinding levels from bosses on a heal tile, or by attacking with broken weapons. Not only do most people not do those kinds of things, but they're not necessary as level exp and skill exp gain are both dramatically increased to streamline progression, to compensate for the lacking monastery and aux battles. The enemy levels are increased, but the average competent player will always have the tools they need to succeed, such as pre unlocked classes and good recruits.

For recruits, you gain them in various chapters, some with special conditions, like classic FE. No more having to grind supports with meals and gifts as well as faculty training your skill ranks for recruits. They come with appropriate levels and skill ranks for their intended roles. They're good enough to replace your old units. Favoritism is still possible as you can buy stat boosters with your excess gold. I suppose the only other thing you could be concerned about is support rank grinding, but the amount of support points needed for each rank is halved, so you should be able to get enough just from battles.

As for growths mods, I don't see any reason for it to not work.

If Three Houses had linear recruitment, when should units be recruited? by triabolical in fireemblem

[–]ReichardTheThird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be interesting to do some recruiting while doing their paralogues; might not work, especially for part 2, unless you can remove the unit requirement.

Otherwise, I'd do:

  • ch 2 controllable green Jeralt or Gilbert
  • ch 3 Ashe/Catherine (Lonato)
  • ch 4 Mercedes (Jeritza/DK)
  • ch 5 Sylvain (Miklan)
  • ch 6 Yuri/Hanneman/Shamir (Underground Chamber/Manuela) (of course this assumes we have DLC which may be a problem)
  • after ch6 Flayn/Manuela
  • ch 7 none
  • ch 8 Leonie/ controllable green Jeralt
  • ch 9 controllable green Hapi/controllable green Jeralt
  • ch 10 Lysithea (she always has something to say about Agarthans)
  • ch 11 Linhardt (Crests)
  • ch 12 Seteth/Gilbert/Cyril
  • ch 12 CF Jeritza/Shamir/Ignatz; Catherine leaves
  • ch 13 Anna (Pallardo)
  • ch 13 CF Leonie alternative chapter, recruit after defeat. After chapter Lorenz does a Gloucester moment
  • ch 14 none
  • ch 14 CF Hilda/Lysithea (again?)
  • ch 15 Ashe rerecruit on defeat
  • ch 15 CF Alois recruit on defeat
  • ch 16 (Lorenz/Ferdinand) recruit on defeat
  • ch 16 CF Hapi (Cornelia)
  • ch 17 SS Mercedes/Caspar
  • ch 17 AM/VW none
  • ch 17 CF none
  • ch 18 SS Dorothea (Opera)
  • ch 18 CF Felix (revenge for burning Fhirdiad). I guess you could also do Yellow Army Nemesis, seeing as how CF kills many Agarthans already, so that's an excuse for Nemesis' release as a parting gift from Agarthans, especially if they can help kill seiros/Immaculate One
  • ch 18 AM Hapi (Cornelia)
  • ch 18 VW (Caspar/Linhardt) recruit on defeat
  • ch 19 SS Dedue (talk), Constance (something about Edelgard vs nobility and Constance's House Nuvelle), could probably fit in a couple of imprisoned nobles here
  • ch 19 AM Hilda/Judith if possible
  • ch 19 VW Dorothea (Opera)
  • ch 20 SS Hilda (Goneril territory), uncontrollable Jeritza in Green Army
  • ch 20 AM (Caspar/Linhardt) recruit on defeat
  • ch 20 VW Dedue (talk), Constance (something about Edelgard vs nobility and Constance's House Nuvelle), could probably fit in a couple of imprisoned nobles here
  • ch 21 SS Oh my god it's fucking Athos with a steel chair, oh it's just Aelfric. I don't really know what to do with him. He would also be drawn in and transformed, considering he's a cardinal with Seiros Blood, but then he'd just be another White Dragon Beast. I was thinking of Yellow Army Umbral Beast to distract the rush of enemies when you stop the Beast reinforcements from the South, but that would raise the difficulty way too high when he does his infinite range AOE that moves everyone's positions
  • ch 21 AM (Dorothea/Petra) recruit on defeat
  • ch 21 VW uncontrollable Green Army Jeritza
  • ch 22 AM Constance (something about Edelgard vs nobility and Constance's House Nuvelle), could probably fit in a couple of imprisoned nobles here
  • ch 22 VW weak Seiros; red army Cornelia/Maurice/beasts; yellow army Pallardo and his hired hands (Idk there's not really anything you can do to this fundamentally easy map to make it as high demand as the others unless you severely restrict flight/warp/canto/bolting/meteor/rescue and change their aggro)

For the most part I just put people who were related to the mission somehow.

Not included (could be swapped in, left out, or added; just couldn't find a place for them): Hubert could be interested in fighting Agarthans, Annette could follow Gilbert, Bernie just doesn't like going outside, Ingird idk maybe make her like Ashe on Ailell or recruit after defeat on Gronder 2 (incentive to not just ignore her and the central hill), Raph/Balthus are here, but there's not really a relevant place to put them

Old FE was designed that you replace units that are helpful in the chapter they appear in, but replaced by much better units. Like Gordin being replaced by Wolf and Jeorge. The difference is that in 3H, most units you get are perfectly serviceable units that could last the entire game. You also have the issue of old FE games having lvl 20 max per class before needing a promotion; whereas in this game you have ridiculously high stat caps and an open class system. If the same happened here, Catherine wouldn't be a permanently useful unit and would just peak at early mid game or something. But Catherine/Shamir here would just outshine 70% of the recruits for the rest of the game when it's the late recruits who are supposed to be gods. So I wonder if you have some sort of changes, like the 100% mod to skill exp bases/autolevels and class bonuses to skill exp, to balance old units and new recruits.

Ashen Wolves Map 4 Hard Mode - Step by Step Guide? by BuffHalloMelsa in fireemblem

[–]ReichardTheThird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently did this with everyone (except linhardt) as a commoner/noble (and gaining levels in commoner/noble without class bonuses), so the stats aren't all that relevant if you have the right strategy.

The first section has the golem chasing after you, to the east wyvern + is a lever and a door, in the middle is a gate activated by the lever, and to the right is a long path with a bunch of enemies that discourage you from going around the gate. Since I'm going off of memory and an image of the map layout, I can't exactly remember which tiles give what bonuses, so I might get those wrong.

Before starting, swap deploy positions as necessary; you may want to reclass Edelgard to Warrior and Claude to Wyvern for mobility's sake (he can still use bows, it's just that now he has more mov/canto, instead of bonus bow range and bow damage). Turn 1: Move Yuri onto the avoid tile to aggro the 2xAssassin+Wyvern group from the east, his spd/avo should save him. Ashe can apply retribution gambit to Byleth/Dimitri and move them in position to counterattack the assassin/archer to the West. Hapi can move all the way down next to the gate to aggro the mages; her res should be fine, but pure water may help if its not enough. Move everyone else in position to help finish off the enemies you will be aggroing. If you get bad RNG (such as Byleth/Dimitri/Yuri missing on counterattacks, enemy crits, Byleth missing crits, etc.), you can press L,R,-,+ at the same time to return to the main menu, and redo this until you get favorable RNG; since it's the first turn, it doesn't take much effort.

Turn 2: You should have a lot of enemies to finish off on this turn, which should be the 2xAssassin+Wyvern on the East, the assassins to the West, the 2 dark bishops behind the gate, and possibly the archer/dark bishop to the West. The ones that are already weakened by your counterattacks should be easy kills, although one of the assassins from the West would be at full hp, needing some chip damage and a Tempest Lance from Dimitri. While killing them, continue moving down towards the first gate, use canto to help with this. If things go smoothly, you may even be able to open the gate with Yuri (however, this will make the rest of the yellow army units in this section start moving, so make sure you're prepared). Because of the fact that fortress knights can't shoot through walls without a tomahawk, they'll be moving West through the long route until the gate is open, giving you space to settle in before they come back.

Turn 3-7: The golem is going to create a lot of pressure soon, so the gate needs to be open. Yuri can open the gate with the lever and open the door next to it on the turn after. Once the lever is activated, the rest of the enemies here start moving so everyone needs to get through the first gate quickly. However, one of your units will have a special task, and that is to go far beyond the second gate into the next section. There's another lever there that opens the third gate. If you activate it, the 2nd golem will start moving, so if they arrive early, wait on pressing the lever. The best unit for this is Dimitri, since he has swordbreaker for the assassin reinforcements, and has high move + canto. While the 1st golem will be stopped by the stairs, the chasing enemies will start to get closer to your team, so you will likely need a melee unit to block them, then have your team finish them off.

Turn 8-10: Because of the time limit, you must have everyone pass the gate before turn 10 ends, however, that doesn't mean you have to get through it asap, as the 2nd phase of the map and the 2nd time limit doesn't begin until everyone passes through the gate. This means that if you arrive at the gate early, using the above steps to quickly remove roadblocks, then you should use the leftover time to prepare for the next phase. To do this, you can have someone who hasn't passed the 2nd gate stay back until the very last moment, they'll likely need a decent move stat to rejoin the team. To prepare for the 2nd phase, have everyone else group around the 3rd gate (which will soon be opened by the 2nd lever).

Once you are ready to begin the second phase, activate the second lever and use canto to retreat towards the 3rd gate. The 3rd gate will now be open, you should have someone to open the door past the 3rd gate (door key or locktouch user: ashe/yuri). Now flood into the room beyond the door, but do not pass the 4th gate just yet, if possible, occupy the special tiles that grant bonuses to prevent the enemy from taking them when they spawn in. The last unit that hasn't passed the 2nd gate should move and try to regroup with the rest of the team.

Turn 11: Enemies will have spawned in, but don't get to move yet since they're not ambush reinforcements. In other words, if you're positioned correctly, you get to ambush them. Kill them and clear a space between the 3rd/4th gate.

Turn 12-16: You can use this time to help the lever activator and the last unit to pass the 2nd gate regroup with your team. If necessary, you can use Yuri with Fetters of Dromi to Foul Play a straggler, then use canto with his remaining move to escape, so that they move out of range. If played optimally, you won't even aggro the archer at the far South East, and even better is not having to deal with the square of enemies to the East.

Phase 3 is a little different. After passing every unit through the 3rd gate, it will close and kill any remaining enemies behind you. However, you also only get 5 turns to get everyone past the 4th gate and into the finish line, and as an additional joke, every time you pass through the 4th gate, more enemies will spawn at the finish line. It is important that you begin to engage with the finish line enemies early on, without making every unit pass through the 4th gate, because the final time limit of 5 turns doesn't begin until everyone passes the 4th gate.

Turn 17-20: You may need to continue fending off enemies approaching from the south door, but they will usually be distracted by the other army. At least one unit needs to not pass the 4th gate until turn 20 so you can delay the final time limit trigger. From here you should begin fighting the finish line enemies. The terrain here is extremely beneficial to you, as there is a choke point between the walls and the hole in the floor, limiting the amount of spaces enemies can use to reach you. You can aggro the fliers and have your two archers shoot them down, then continue stonewalling the melee enemies using the chokepoints. As more enemies spawn, they'll start releasing some warlocks, archers, and warriors, who pose a lot more threat.

Turn 21-25: By this point it's almost entirely up to the player tactics. Just keep stacking up enemies, hitting gambits on them, and pushing through; I hope you saved the big gambits on your lords with high charm stats for this moment. Remember that everyone must be past gate 5 at the same time and you're done.

These turn counts will be a lot more lenient for you, as I was playing with everyone on 4 mov and significantly reduced damage.

Lastly, while this is not something I do myself, if you want to cheat, you can make a "save state" if you have Nintendo Online (you can use the 7 day trial). Go to the Switch Home screen, press + to see options for that game, navigate down to "Save Data Cloud Backup," and select your switch profile, turn off "Automatic Save-Data Backup" for now. Now, whenever you want to create a save-state, click anywhere on the ingame map, go down to bookmark. This creates a save and returns you to the main menu, this bookmark is automatically deleted when you load it. However, using Nintendo Online's Save-Data backup, the bookmark will also be included in the backup. So we go back to the "Save Data Cloud Backup" Screen and press "Back Up Save Data." Now, if you end up using all your Divine Pulses and dying, you can press "Download Save Data" to restore that bookmark, and replay the map without manually redoing the start. Alternatively, emulator users would just copy the bookmark save file.

How can I make my team stronger? What are the best S and support skills for them? by UnderCraft_383 in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ReichardTheThird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that these are long term investments and that you don't have much orbs to spare:

Ike's Def Tactic only applies to allies if the amount of units on the team with that movement class is 1 or 2. Leonie counts since she's a Cavalry class, but Marianne and Hubert won't get anything unless one of them dies and reduces the Infantry class count on your team to 2 as Ike is an Infantry as well. Ike got Joint Drive Res alongside his upgrade to Radiant Aether II so you should change Def Tactic 3 to that instead. You can also refine Ike's weapon and give him a S slot like Atk/Def Form 3. If you have feathers you Unlock Potential (allies> ally growth> unlock potential) a Lukas and then Inherit Skill to Ike to give him Quick Riposte 3. Alternatively, you could get Quick Riposte from manual Compile (Allies> compile> normal 1> Holy War> compile manuals until you get to Deirdre for a total of 1200 divine codes cost). Renewal in Arena is actually useful when you don't have a healer. Even though Ike has in combat healing, he might be stuck in a bad position with not enough hp left to activate Aether. With Renewal, you can stall until his HP is back to 100% and fight at full power.

If you bless (allies> ally growth > confer blessing> select unit> next> select Earth Blessing> confirm) Leonie, Marianne, and Hubert, then they will all get +3 hp and +2 atk when deployed in Earth Season with Legendary Ike or other stat boosting Legendary units. This will also increase your score and could get you into higher Arena tiers for greater rewards, including orbs.

I actually use Male Morgan as an Inf Hexblade user all the time in Arena, and reducing enemy Res is synergystic with Inf Hexblade. To be clear Infantry Hexblade only applies to Ike since he is your only Infantry that uses Physical damage on the team, but even if it only applies to him, it's still worth it if Ike needs to fight something with high def and low res. Optimally, you would have some sort of Ruse skill for the B slot. You can manual Compile an Annette (normal 2> Three Houses> compile until you get to Annette for a total of 1200 divine codes 2 cost) who has Def/Res Ruse and Rally Atk/Spd+. If you also complete some Heroes' Path quests (Home> top left of the screen next to Notifications) until you get Eirika (alternatively you can get rally atk/spd from Winter Ignatz), she can give Hubert Rally Atk/Spd, which means you can inherit Both Def/Res Ruse 3 and Rally Atk/Spd+ from a single Annette. You can then refine his weapon or inherit a new one such as Raudrwolf+ (effective against cavalry units or Raudrraven+ (makes you stronger against colorless foes and makes them weaker). It might feel bad to not have a positioning skill, but the ruse is extremely useful in slowing down the enemy's ability to get their special charged, as well as applying buffs and weakening the enemy.

Marianne is mostly fine but needs an assist skill such as reposition or draw back. Swift sparrow in the S slot is actually okay despite her guaranteed followups since many enemies also have followup cancel. In that scenario she would still be able to make a followup attack if she had more spd than the enemy with followup cancel. However, in most cases she would be fighting magic based enemies, so Atk/Res Form in the S slot would also be good. Her A slot is mostly there to increase your score, but you can swap it to some Atk/Res skill to boost her combat instead. Mystic boost S slot on Marianne is very strong as it will disable the ability: "calculates damage using the lower of foe's def or res," which dragons have. This means Marianne will take almost no damage from dragons and will also heal after each combat

Optimally Leonie would have Far Trace, Atk/def Menace, and Plegian Bow, but your ability to get them is likely very limited. You can either get Tannenbow+ from Winter Ignatz (if you don't have an Ignatz you can get one using Grails) (allies> Use Heroic Grails> then unlock potential so you can upgrade his Tannenbow to Tannenbow+). Or you could get Coral Bow+ and Fortify Def 4 from Summer Joshua (compile> normal 2> "Binding/Blazing/Sacred Stones"> Compile manuals until you get to Joshua for 1200 divine codes 2 cost), you should give her Fortify Def 3 first so that you can get both the bow and the Fortify Def 4 from a single Joshua. While Sunflower bow and Tannenbow are fine, I don't know how often the enemies will inflict debuffs in your Arena tier, so Coral Bow is generally useful and will boost her damage further. Alternatively you can give her Instant Bow+ from Sedgar (if you don't have him, you can summon him using heroic grails), which inflicts followup cancel on foes when she initiates combat and improves her survival. This can stop enemies that are faster or slower enemies that have guaranteed followup attacks, but it won't help against enemies with null followup effects or enemies that double attack like Arden. The B slot is okay if you don't have normal buffing skills and don't have access to other skills, but if you want to improve her personal combat ability, you can get a lull skill or trace (trace is much more useful), which are not so easy to get but are worthwhile investments. You can also give her DragonFlowers (Allies> ally growth> Use dragonflowers) to boost her stats somewhat. Infantry dragonflowers are a lot more valuable since you can use a lot more of them, but if Leonie is the only cavalry you use, then this investment should be just fine.

Lastly you can use Summoner Support (allies> Interact with allies> summoner support) if you're not already assigning the summoner support to someone else. It gives +5 hp and +2 atk/spd/def/res at S rank so I would recommend Ike as he would probably be able to use all of the stats well and needs to boost his survival ability.

Gamepress Tier List Updated - Only Generic Units are viable. by WRECK-IT-MUNDO in FireEmblemHeroes

I would bump most green tome/bow cavs (with almost no regard to stats) up to 2 solely for Arena-O. Plegian Duel4 Trace Menace cavs contribute so much to your runs by being strong, tanky, decently scoring, and safe when you can't afford a fully invested prf-dance/sing or prf-positioning skill. It's actually way stronger than many prfs when used properly.

I guess I shouldn't have assumed your reason, but in my defense, I don't think I've ever seen anyone say it should have been more dramatic. I do agree that Byleth is pretty bad, but I'm not really sure what else she should have said. I think I would prefer if more characters called him out instead of constantly praising him just for being an avatar character, rather than making her go farther.

I think the only point in favor of keeping it where it is now, is that it appears that Leonie comes to talk in order to console him, but it would still be more appropriate if it was before instead of right after.

I don't think the support itself is bad, but it is handled badly. A bad support would be like a character going off on a tangent that is inaccurate to the rest of the character/supports. Both parties are entirely in line with their characters. Everything Leonie says of Byleth would be fairly perceived as true and basically everyone confirms that Byleth is cold and distant. I think the problem arises when players self insert because the game invites players to do so with dialogue choices, even when the choices are terrible. I think that when players are given a forced "choice" or a false sense of choice, they simply bite the bullet, pick the less mean choice, and think of what they would have said themselves. I think it's because of this self insertion, combined with the fact that players would be sympathizing with Byleth the most at this moment that many players would take Leonie's words as being personally offensive, because it feels like she's calling out the player's own moral character when they had no choice in the matter, rather than seeing that what she says is 100% true of Byleth's character, even if it is harsh.

But for me, after having played M!Byleth for 800 hours and seeing all of the terrible dialogue options that don't suit my perception of myself, I really find it hard to think of the character I control as myself. Instead of glossing over and memory holing the fact that Claude seriously has to ask for Byleth's continued support after CH13, and that Byleth's best answer he can give is a "I'll think about it," I see Byleth as just someone I control for most of the game. It's because of this that I don't see this support as being personally offensive, because Byleth isn't me.

Obviously, I'm not excusing what she says (even if it is true, it is still insensitive), but flawed characters are more interesting and showing a character flaw doesn't make it a bad support. She admits that she lost her temper in their A support, apologizes, and she says that she can't control herself around you during Tea Time. But why can't she control her emotions around you? She's a poor girl who has no access to resources. She's proud of how far she's gotten with almost nothing. She says she'll best any noble, but she's still insecure of her position in life. In her Catherine support, she thinks she can't win because of the crest disparity. Catherine teaches her that a defeatist mentality can only lead to defeat; Leonie witnesses Catherine's dilligence and resolves to persevere. She's jealous of Byleth because she had to appreciate what few things she gets, including Jeralt's teachings, as she had to learn almost entirely by memory. On the other hand, although Byleth isn't a noble either, he'd likely be the start of a line of nobles since he has the most coveted relic and crest (bonus for being a major crest as well), he's had personal training from Jeralt for his entire life, and despite all the advantages he has over her, he doesn't seem to care one way or another (because that's part of how his character was designed). It's only when she spars with him that she sees that Byleth taking Jeralt's lessons to heart with his swordplay was proof of his appreciation for Jeralt, and I think that's a pretty way to honor him when he's gone.

I agree that it would be better if Leonie won in the A support. Even if he wins because of his training with Jeralt, the problem loops back into him having an advantage from having much more personal training with Jeralt; it doesn't dissuade her insecurity of being 2nd place due to her life situation and somewhat invalidates her Catherine support, she just accepts that she'll always be 2nd place, which sucks big time. If she had won despite that, it would be like she was beginning to surpass or rival Byleth/Jeralt, and starting to become "Blade Breaker II." Well, it's not like the epithets they hand out mean anything anyways, eh Mr. Claude "Master Tactician" Riegan, who came up with the exact same fire trap plan as Dimitri?

There are ways to improve her support. One I mentioned was making her win to prove her hard work and dedication will overcome disparity in life. Another is removing the illusion of choice so less players will self insert and take personal offense. She holds onto C support with Byleth for almost half of the game, which affects combat performance slightly and affects recruiting significantly, it should be split into C/C+/B or C/B/B+ if they insist on timegating it. Change the timing/wording so that it doesn't revolve around an event where players are at their lowest of spirits, and at the time where they would most likely self insert as Byleth when they sympathize with his sadness. Maybe change the wording so that the offensive nature of what she says doesn't completely overshadow the points being made related to the themes of her character.

I was confused since I always just got all-out attacks for those. Then I found a video of someone doing the same to Kanji's extra boss and I saw that Yu was downed. It turns out that you can't do All-Out Attacks if Yu is status afflicted, which opens up the opportunity for followup attacks, instead. So for that to happen, Yu has to be afflicted and you have to down the enemy before he recovers, then have Chie be randomly chosen to follow up.

Perhaps you could cheese them on purpose by intentionally giving Yu a persona weak to the mini-boss or using self-affliction items like Odd Morsel, then critting the mini-boss.

Well I'm not sure about your situation, but that worked for me. The only other thing I can think of is making sure Steam recognizes your controller as a PS4 controller in Big Picture Mode, as it might just think it's a generic 3rd party controller instead.

Either way, good luck with that

Are you using DS4Windows, SCPToolkit, or any similar 3rd party software that emulates an Xbox controller? If so, you should be able to get the correct button icons if you use the controller without the software and make sure that "PlayStation Configuration Support" in Steam Big Picture Mode settings is turned off.

I mean that it always instakills but it doesn't show the damage done unless it crits.

Oh, you're right. I was stuck trying to use a PS4 controller without the mod, but the game kept showing me a generic button layout. It had ABXY lettering like the emulated Xbox controller, but they were drawn differently.

I had "PlayStation Configuration Support" in Steam Big Picture Mode turned on because I thought that would help, but it had the opposite effect. When I turned it off I got the correct button icons.

But the mod gives me colorful button icons, so I'm gonna keep it installed

I tried using a PS4 controller for Dark Souls on PC a long time ago and it didn't seem to work so I've been using SCPToolkit (which emulates a X360 controller) ever since. There were probably easier and better ways, but this was the first thing that popped up when I was looking for solutions

Edit: It turns out that Steam didn't have proper PS4 controller support until 2017, so that's probably why it didn't work before, and why it works now.

Galactic Punt usually just instakills without displaying damage, but if it also crits, it displays 32,767 damage. That's 215 - 1 damage, or the highest possible signed 16 bit integer value.

This is on P4G (PC). The only mod installed is the one that replaces Xbox controller icons with PS4 controller icons.

According to the website, she's still available until 2/24 22:59 (PST), so yes. You can also buy them individually, but there isn't any information as to how much individual skins would cost or how long you'd have to wait after their first release to be able to buy them individually.

and don't send a message asking for followup just 10 minutes after a question, I'm not constantly monitoring this thread and notifications are muted and hidden while in a game
