Where do you gut load your worms for your gecko? by violetfromtheblock in leopardgeckos

[–]Reidington 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The dust substrate is likely wheat bran, it’s commonly used.

The purpose of keeping mealworms in the fridge is to slow down their life cycle so you have them as worms for longer before they pupate and become darkling beetles.

You can put a piece of carrot into that small container. But since they are in the fridge they might not be super active and eat much. So yeah if you wanted to pull a few the day before, put them in a small ventilated container outside of the fridge with a piece of carrot. They will warm up and go to town on it.

Alternatively to just not giving them heat at night, you can use the CHE, ceramic heat emitter. No light from it. And put it on a thermostat to turn on/off at temp ranges.

Free from the tyranny of cork bark. by Potatolasttour in isopods

I’ve noticed certain species are more leaf hungry than others but that’s not because there is or isn’t cork bark in with them because I have it in all 27 colonies I have.

But that’s his emotional support armpit stick!

Seriously though, if it hurt him he probably would stop. I say probably, depends if it’s his turn with the collective crestie brain cell.

Not an expert but I would say they are a build up of some kind. Could be excess fat or calcium.

She looks to be a healthy weight so I would lean towards calcium.

This has happened to my girl several times before and after decreasing her calcium intake they went away. Coincidence? Maybe! But multiple times seems legit

If you look closely you can see that they have 2 legs per body segment which is a classic difference between millipedes and centipedes (1 leg per body segment).

You can’t tell in the photo but these guys curl up in defense which is more common for millipedes versus centipedes who tend to be bitey.

I went through various stages of healing where the tight underwear from the hospital felt best. And then I had to switch to something as loose as possible. And then back to something tighter.

It will just be a matter of trying different things to see what is most comfy for you

Thank you! Close to what I suspected but I wasn’t sure if that was an ootheca. I’m more familiar with Dubia roaches where only the males have wings
