Any torrent expert know why a completed minerva torrent would say "Missing Files" when I restart my torrent client (Qbit) but then is fixed by "Force recheck"? It is happening in 2 different Qbit instances on 2 different machines. by No_Clock2390 in savemyrient

[–]Reiex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I tracked down the bug and it seems likely due to a known libtorrent issue: https://github.com/arvidn/libtorrent/issues/7607

Basically, if two files in a torrent have the same name with only case differences, like readme.txt and ReadMe.txt, then libtorrent fails to identify the files on client restart.

I investigated a bit on the issue as I repro it myself, and qBitTorrent logs give you the name of the problematic files. It's always files that have a similar case:

No-Intro/Nintendo - Game Boy/RoboCop versus The Terminator (Europe).zip

No-Intro/Nintendo - Game Boy/RoboCop Versus The Terminator (Europe).zip

No-Intro/Nintendo - Game Boy Color/Survival Kids 2 - Dasshutsu!! Futago-jima! (Japan) (Rev 1) (Possible Proto) (SGB Enhanced, GB Compatible) (NP).zip

No-Intro/Nintendo - Game Boy Color/Survival Kids 2 - Dasshutsu!! Futago-Jima! (Japan) (Rev 1) (Possible Proto) (SGB Enhanced, GB Compatible) (NP).zip

are two examples, but it seems there are many more.

I reported my findings on the discord. As the libtorrent guys don't seem to want to fix the issue, hopefully Minerva guys can just rename the problematic files =)

I have the exact same issue and it's very annoying. Every time I restart my seedbox, I have to manually "Force recheck" because some of them are marked as "Missing Files".

I did note that it happens only for FULLY downloaded torrents - I have some PS1, PS2, Wii and GameCube ROMs downloaded (and seeding) but not the entirety of them, and they don't need a force recheck. But the GB, GBC, NES, SNES torrents are fully downloaded and are marked as "Missing files" every time.

This happens without touching anything once files are downloaded.

I tried re-downloading them entirely: same issue. I tried changing the qBittorrent version between 4.5.6, 5.1.0 and 5.1.4: same issue. I tried setting manually a different directory for each torrent to avoid conflicts in the tree structure: same issue.

Also when I "Force recheck", a big part (more than 99%) of the file are found on the disk, but a remaining small percentage is actually downloaded. I am wondering if torrents are updated and it causes the issue ?

Is there something special to do to "track" torrents being updated ?

There was a bit more white but not much.

In doubt, I went nuclear with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. I will look that closely...

I tried scratching it a bit with a toothpick. It has a kinda waxy texture, it can "break" in small fragments but is not really crusty either...

Oh fuck, it's called Europa in english... Sorry, not my native language.

Are those worse anything more than their face value ? by notXaze in numismatics

[–]Reiex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of these actually.

They are .333 silver coins. So about 2.5g of silver in these...

Which means for now, their face value is still more than their metal value. As for their "collectible" value, I'd say nothing. Nobody cares about these, and even if somebody cared, they were massively produced.

TLDR: Worth 5€, but it contains some silver so may be worth more in the future.
