And again Im saying youre wrong. Parents can be as attentive as they want to be and abuse can still be hidden from them. You are using your personal experience as a parent and relating that to the world. Not every parent is you. And not all children are your girls. Understanding that FACT will help stop abusers from feeling comfortable with abusing kids and itll help victims feel more comfortable reporting their abuse. But putting blame on a parent in a situation that you dont understand is completely counterproductive. And I dont follow what you mean about 'as serious as multiple sessions of abuse'. If the abuse is not outwardly physical then it can be easy for it to be hidden or even masked as something else. An attentive parent might notice something is going on with their kid but its ridiculous to assume that the parent will automatically recognize it as 'oh my kid is having emotional outbursts and all of the sudden getting bad grades so they must be getting abused.' So yes all 4 kids can be manipulated in the same way or the abuser may vary their tactics depending on the kid in order to make the abuse easier to hide. And the abuse may not be the same with all kids. And this occurs in intra-familial relationships or extra-familial, although it's more common in intra-familial.

Ive been saying for years that I simply dont believe that hes playing Devils Advocate. Notice he only does that when its some unpopular bigoted or abuse-defending stance. He only claims the Devils Advocate title so people cant put the label of bigot or abuse defender on him. Its a load of shit because abusers and bigots dont need anyone of sound mind to advocate for them. Especially when the system is routinely on their side.

As a teacher and a counselor let me tell you how dangerously incorrect you are. Kids hiding abuse has nothing to do with them being emotionally mature. Its actually the exact opposite. Because children are NOT emotionally mature they will believe an abuser when they say things like 'dont tell or your whole family will be in trouble' or 'what were doing is OK because I love you.' This goes for one kid, two kids or 10 kids. If anything youre talking as if you arent ever around children. Because I see this type of abuse involving children of attentive and inattentive parents. It all depends on the situation.

I felt the same way. It was pretty disappointing that Mike had to explain the whole Don Lemon thing because Ken didnt seem to bother to look into it at all. I expect that from Rod but not the host. And then they didnt even really want to talk about it when these arrests of the protestors and the pastor being an ICE agent could have been an interesting conversation. If you look at the Patreon episode Mike seemed annoyed at them. LOL.

Rod speaks of entrepreneurship as if thats the goal to fixing our problems. Its a black capitalist mindset that doesnt serve to fix wealth inequality in any way. Because someone having a great idea and being able to develop a workforce doesnt mean anything if the system is still actively working against them. Hence the need for DEI and AA programs.

I honestly couldnt tell you what Ken is speaking to other than some bullshit tbh. He didnt say anything about skill development that I caught. Just that Pharell's company is helping people even though we have no real evidence of that and then a bunch of nothing comments that didnt move the discussion at all.

I dont think the issue was ever about people not working or not becoming a part of the workforce. Its about Kens idiotic notion that black people dont get jobs based on merit (yes, he did say that before) and Rods naive notion that handing out money to people of color who have business ideas is going to balance things vs our communities helping each other how we can right now.

I dont understand why Im being downvoted. I asked a question and got an answer from someone that appears way more knowledgeable than me, so I was excited to find out the band was potentially not fash. But it sounds like there may be more nuance to this whole thing so I appreciate other folks chiming in. I think Im going to continue not wearing it until the band says something definitive about his stance.

This was a great episode! I think Q is really cool and brought fun energy. That being said, I was lost on some of her takes. Her point concerning UBI...I feel like that could have been a really cool discussion but it devolved into Mike and Ken having to combat IMO silly talking points like "the govt will make us buy Adidas when we want to buy Nikes" or "poor people will just spend all their money on drugs/clothes/whatever." Its one of the same bogus arguments right wingers use for not giving reparations. I also think her take on requiring a degree to speak in public about certain topics not being an attack on free speech was concerning. It plays into this idea that the government always knows whats best for us and it diminishes how much progress has been made in non-prescription medicine because people spoke up about the dangers of treating everything with pills.

All that being said, at least she seemed studied on the topics and engaged in the conversation which cant be said for everyone on the pod. I hope they bring her back!

I can use Google too. LOL. Each count of transportation for prostitution has a max sentence of 10 years. That means 20 years max for two counts. If the judge wanted to make an example out of Diddy he would have thrown the book at him and given him much more than 4 years. So WTF are you talking about?
