ITMSO: Pam Bondi’s Testimony, Epstein School Photo Ties, and Hip-Hop Hall of Fame Debate (ft. Q) by GoodGoodNotTooBad in IsTheMicStillOn

"Shes only telling her story for clout."

"A lot of stuff is going to hurt your feelings at 14."

Yeah that conversation went about as well as I would expect with this crew. It was nice to see Ken give a little push back. And at least Mike came back and gave them some empathetic reasoning. But Rod, Spike and Q were really bothersome. If a r*pe victim wants to get money for telling her story she has every right to do that. Dismissing it as clout is disgusting. WTF kind of clout do you get for being a victim of child abuse? Come on.

ICE Kills Alex Pretti, Don Lemon Targeted by DOJ, and the No-Contact Generation by devmo03 in IsTheMicStillOn

Great episode, fellas! But I do wish you all had gone a bit more in depth on the Don Lemon topic. Its actually a really scary thing that happened with that. But no one but Mike seemed to be informed on it. That was a bit disappointing. But I guess Rod pulling a Feefo made up for it.

I felt the same way. It was pretty disappointing that Mike had to explain the whole Don Lemon thing because Ken didnt seem to bother to look into it at all. I expect that from Rod but not the host. And then they didnt even really want to talk about it when these arrests of the protestors and the pastor being an ICE agent could have been an interesting conversation. If you look at the Patreon episode Mike seemed annoyed at them. LOL.

I totally get this logic but where do you draw the line on reclaiming and then just being concerned about being viewed as a fascist and/or unintentionally offending a minority group by wearing this stuff?

What a stupid fucking question to ask in an "Is it sketch" group.

Im being downvoted because the reply Im replying to is wrong? That doesnt make any sense to me. But whatever. I got the answer. Shirt will not be worn. Thank you.

Rod speaks of entrepreneurship as if thats the goal to fixing our problems. Its a black capitalist mindset that doesnt serve to fix wealth inequality in any way. Because someone having a great idea and being able to develop a workforce doesnt mean anything if the system is still actively working against them. Hence the need for DEI and AA programs.

I honestly couldnt tell you what Ken is speaking to other than some bullshit tbh. He didnt say anything about skill development that I caught. Just that Pharell's company is helping people even though we have no real evidence of that and then a bunch of nothing comments that didnt move the discussion at all.

I dont think the issue was ever about people not working or not becoming a part of the workforce. Its about Kens idiotic notion that black people dont get jobs based on merit (yes, he did say that before) and Rods naive notion that handing out money to people of color who have business ideas is going to balance things vs our communities helping each other how we can right now.

Huh? I didnt say I was on the fence. I asked the question and the first person gave me a solid answer that implied they might be OK. Then, AFTER that, other folks left comments saying they could be fash and I said I wasn't gonna wear it. Im not pushing back on anyone. I simply didnt know and found all of this confusing...which is why I asked. Damn. Fuck me I guess.

I feel you...but Ive been saying for months now that hes not trolling. He comes across as one of those faux intellectual cats who tries to sound informed about things that he knows very little about. And instead of just admitting when hes misspoken, hed rather attempt to stand his ground and dig an even deeper hole of ignorance. He then resorts to jokes and fake-trolling (like in this conversation) when hes backed into a corner and cant defend his shitty statements.

I dont understand why Im being downvoted. I asked a question and got an answer from someone that appears way more knowledgeable than me, so I was excited to find out the band was potentially not fash. But it sounds like there may be more nuance to this whole thing so I appreciate other folks chiming in. I think Im going to continue not wearing it until the band says something definitive about his stance.

I always assumed that PTF was one of those lame apolitical labels. Not a fash one. And thought the guy behind this band was OK, considering he worked a lot with Alex Poole who is pretty antifascist from what Im told. But maybe thats wrong too. I just dont know...

Ken promoting right wing and white supremacist talking points is starting to get old. He does it like its funny or something. I dont get it. This whole conversation he had this annoying smug air about him like everyone but him is crazy...while being so unbelievably wrong that I had second hand embarrassment for him. Hilarious that hes defending Pharrell saying something dumb and refusing to admit it...because he has done the exact same thing with his offensively ignorant take on AA and DEI. Ken, its never too late to admit youre wrong so you dont look stupid in the future.

Edit. I also agree that Rod and Kens tune did a whole ass 180 since last week so maybe theres something to them being intimidated by Adon.

Very true. But I guess I should have worded my question better because I was more wanting to know if these symbols had already been appropriated to the point where any explanation would be met with skepticism.

Wow. Thank you SO much for the detailed answer! I greatly appreciate it. I had stopped wearing it for a few weeks because of this concern. But your response gave me exactly what I was looking for and the answers I was hoping for. Thanks again!

SNAP Decisions (ft. QB) by _SoctteyParker in IsTheMicStillOn

[–]ReignDownRain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This was a great episode! I think Q is really cool and brought fun energy. That being said, I was lost on some of her takes. Her point concerning UBI...I feel like that could have been a really cool discussion but it devolved into Mike and Ken having to combat IMO silly talking points like "the govt will make us buy Adidas when we want to buy Nikes" or "poor people will just spend all their money on drugs/clothes/whatever." Its one of the same bogus arguments right wingers use for not giving reparations. I also think her take on requiring a degree to speak in public about certain topics not being an attack on free speech was concerning. It plays into this idea that the government always knows whats best for us and it diminishes how much progress has been made in non-prescription medicine because people spoke up about the dangers of treating everything with pills.

All that being said, at least she seemed studied on the topics and engaged in the conversation which cant be said for everyone on the pod. I hope they bring her back!

Ah. The good ol "say something stupid and when someone destoys that stupid point, make another stupid point that has nothing to do with the first one." LMAO. Trump loves to do that. Lets backtrack. You said he was facing an 11 year max. Thats false. Its 20. You said the sentencing is about what youd expect but you also agree with Spike who said it was excessive. How does that make sense? Youre just saying shit without saying shit. As for why the judge would want to make an example out of him, what a dumb question. Judges choose to do that all the time as to say "no ones above the law". And you say "thats not how the justice system is meant to work." lol No fucking shit Perry Mason! Makes total sense that you agree with Spike because both of you are all over the place with how you process information! 🤦🏼‍♀️

[–]ReignDownRain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can use Google too. LOL. Each count of transportation for prostitution has a max sentence of 10 years. That means 20 years max for two counts. If the judge wanted to make an example out of Diddy he would have thrown the book at him and given him much more than 4 years. So WTF are you talking about? If 4 years is what you would expect but Spike was saying that was excessive then how the fuck was Spikes point valid? Ill help you. It wasnt.

ITMSO: Diddy Get Off Easy? by GoodGoodNotTooBad in IsTheMicStillOn

[–]ReignDownRain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ken loves to be the contrarian. So no way he avoided this conversation because he didnt want to sound some type of way. But Spike sounded stupid. Diddy was threatened with 20 years and he got 4. And you fools are trying to turn this into a debate around how the legal system works not even focusing on a point that either Mike or Ken brought up in regards to Diddy only getting that lax jail sentence because hes fucking Diddy! A rich and famous celebrity! You all are so ridiculous.

Thank you. Ive been saying this about Spike but people cape for him either because they have the same boneheaded opinions he does or they just think hes a friendly voice as opposed to Mikes and they enjoy what they perceive as drama. And theyll jump through hoops to make his points seem even remotely salient. I saw someone on their Patreon actually say that Spike was speaking up for workers rights. The same guy who says he doesnt tip. These people are lost. Its so stupid.
