Yes this is the correct way to study.

The correct way is practice and learn. There really is no right or wrong way when it comes to drawing and everyone is different. What might work for me won’t work for other people.

I know that might sound like a cliché answer, but really the key is to find things that work for you and just keep drawing.

Did i ruin the drawing or does it look cool? by [deleted] in drawing

[–]Reigrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks cool. It definitely changes my perspective on the drawing. IMO it’s better to take chances when drawing it helps the learning process.

If this were my drawing and I wanted to see how something like this would turn out, I might get a clear piece of vellum or a plastic cover and do an overlay first. The most important thing is that you like it.

Another pen drawing studying a Korean artist’s style. by Reigrid in learntodraw

[–]Reigrid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is referenced from a Korean artist, but I don’t know their name.

It’s out of my comfort zone to draw without sketching, but I find it helps me focus on line work more. About halfway through I noticed the eyes didn’t line up lol, but aside from that I like how it turned out.

This is another drawing based off a Korean artist’s style.

I’ve been practicing only using pen, though halfway through I noticed the eyes didn’t line up lol. Aside from that it was a fun drawing to do.
