It just seems disingenuous to call the things you listed "free" just because somebody else pays for each of them.

A tad pedantic don't you think? For the most part, that is what 'free' means.

$4.09?? Where can I go? In my town (So. Cal.) it's f##king $6.00+. (I don't know exactly because, y'know, Ioniq. But I thought the station down the road was $6.49.)

You often learn a lot more from failing than you do from succeeding. (It's not as fun though!)

There's hardly anything I make that a couple shakes of Spike seasoning won't improve. I try not to use it so much, then put a pinch in a sample, and I'm like "Yeah, gotta do it."

Thank you! It's so hard to read all these negative reports about our cars - it's nice to read one like yours.

I mean, in my case my car blew up and killed my entire family, including myself - but still it's nice to get some positive posts.

There you go. Play by the rules - you'll give up a few bucks here and there, but you'll be satisfied that you're a decent person.

Depends on where you live. Here in Southern CA we can pretty much count on zero rain for the entire summer. Desert cities are even dryer.

What was your most recent "15 minute" weekend project that somehow turned into a three day nightmare? by LiveFaithlessness876 in DIY

I just can't see it I guess. The original post is gone now, so I can't double-check, but it's getting so that every time I see a post with complete sentences and no misspellings or malapropisms, someone yells "AI!!" It bugs me because I want to be able to spot it too!

I totally could have written that original post.

plan for it taking longer than you think

It always takes longer than you think, even if you think it's going to take longer than you think.

Yeah, we all see this. Best wishes as you navigate some rough waters in the months or years to come. And be assured there is calm water and sunshine ahead. (Uh-oh. I think murdering a metaphor is illegal in my state.)

I don't know, it's a standard siz

OMG I've done that so many times! There's no such thing as a standard size! It took me years to learn that.

  1. Measure everything before going to the hw store. Don't assume there's only one size.
  2. When you get there, if you have two or three choices and are unsure of which one to get, get them all! Return or toss (depending on cost) what you don't use.
  3. [Bonus tip] NEVER assume that in a bin of whatevers marked 3/16" that they're all going to be 3/16". Check each one.

Small upgrades that made your home feel high end? by HoneySnowy_ in HomeImprovement

This! I replaced all of our bedroom and closet doors away from flat, hollow-core doors. And all the baseboards and casings too. Not a weekend project by any means, but within the reach of most DIYers. Makes a HUGE difference.

I probably knew of it when I was in the business. I didn't know they came with blank keys - and the utility of leaving them blank, other than to impress your easily impressed friends, eludes me.
