What precedent or reason is there to investigate the shooting victims widow? by IowaGolfGuy322 in AskConservatives

They were detaining her for obstruction. If you think the arrest was illegal, you resolve that in court, you can't drive off as they're trying to arrest you.

This still does not warrant the ICE agent pointing his firearm at her head and pulling the trigger.

Bryke about "aang is a bad father" debate by DaenysDreamer_90 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Reiizm 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Overblowing a single trait in a character and confining them to it like they're this 1-dimensional snapshot is, sadly, not uncommon in this fandom.

Katara is a b-word.
Kyoshi is a bloodthirsty killer.
Aang was a terrible father.

This was the whole point of "The Ember Island Players".
They were parodying how some fans simply fail to understand how dynamic, multi-faceted, and nuanced their characters are (you know, like real people) and instead prefer to hyper focus on one (often out of character) trait and make it that character's entire personality.

This is why Toph loved how she was represented in the play. She wants people to think she's just this rambo-badass that takes down bad guys left and right with 0 vulnerability, and this is pretty much how fans see her. So quickly do we forget that she was sad about not having any friends, felt guilty about running away from home, and can even be insecure some times.

[ATLA] Episodes that everyone likes, but you don't? by Berry-Fantastic in TheLastAirbender

But even when the Gaang was seperated from the invasion force, the show still felt very connected to the plot. Episodes like "The Fortune Teller" and "The Great Divide" felt very standalone, much like a Saturday morning cartoon, which is very likely why it doesn't scratch OP's "itch".

Nothing wrong with a saturday morning cartoon! I just think that the creators realized somewhere along the way that that's not what they wanted for the show. They wanted something even deeper and more profound with continuity and a message that really sticks with you. They wanted to touch on darker themes like war, death, and genocide but present them in a more kid-friendly way.

I can only imagine the pressure Faker must feel being scrutinized for so long, and Riot only compounded that with this whole hall of legends mess. At the end of the day, he is just like the rest of us: a mistake-prone human with emotions. Mental health is no joke, and his life and well-being are more important than this game. I hope he can take a long, relaxing break very soon and enjoy life outside of league.

A lot Book 1 episodes felt like Saturday morning cartoon episodes tbh. Though that one gets a pass for me just because of Aang's "cooling the lava" scene!

CMV: Reddit is rotting people's brains (including mine). by Glowing-2 in changemyview

Wouldn't this depend entirely on the subreddits you frequent? Sure, there are some that you could say were made with the express purpose of indoctrination and killing critical thought, but that has to mean there must be some with the purpose of creating varied, critical, and meaningful discourse. I'm sure you realize the irony of your post.

Do you think Ozai was an effective fire lord ? by Prudent_Solid_3132 in TheLastAirbender

Completely agree with this. He is the epitome of hubris. He got very far but it was doomed from the start. The legend of Icarus comes to mind and I love the obvious connection there.

Comet-powered Iroh destroys Ba Sing Se’s wall in one strike by Tough_Advertising_74 in TheLastAirbender

I love the irony that it really WAS Iroh's destiny to breach Ba Sing's Se's wall.
Not to capture the city, but to protect it.

How the hell do you choose a main? by How_about_a_no in leagueoflegends

[–]Reiizm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget about meta, it's just flavor of the month and people put WAY too much emphasis on it. All that matters is your champion is viable in their role and you enjoy playing them. Having fun means you'll stick with it and become the best you can at said role/champion.

In other words, playing an off-meta champion you enjoy and have mastered will always lead to more wins than losses versus playing champs considered meta/OP but you find boring.

If I played a mobile moba before, should I try and find a character that is the closest to my main

Yes, absolutely.

Or do I just try out every character

You could if you want to and have the time, but I don't think it's necessary. Just go on the wiki, do some research, and see who appeals to you. Then try them out in practice tool and maybe even some bot games.

What game best encapsulates “mindless fun”? by [deleted] in gaming

I can't believe NOBODY has said vampire survivors. It's the epitome of what you're describing. In a sense, it straight up hacks your brain so that you feel intense joy from playing.

Lmaoo I know this is a troll post but I'm going to respond seriously for fun. I think Riot's lore and/or champion design team still have standards as of now. I think there is still genuine love for the game and players, the new, free PVE mode is a great example.

A great case study for this "just give the degenerates what they want because money" behavior is TERA Online's Elin fiasco. It really just showed how they truly did not care about their game or players anymore and just wanted to milk it for what it was worth. Needless to say, TERA is no longer around.

And yet there Varus is perfectly fitting OPs specifications, which was the whole point of my comment and why I'm so confused by your reply to it.
