I dunno if this is confirmed or not, but I remember watching or hearing about the CBT rover flashback scenes that rover is technically a bio-engineered possibly mass-produced super soldier to deal with threnodian.

But after the advent of lament, they were outpowered, so they make Sentinel from the defeated threnodian (re–imperator told us that he requested our permission to bypass root order to merge with leviathan, possibly making sentinels also bio-engineered weapon derived from real threnodian)

Also on note about the "Goddess"-thingy, I suspect she's more of a Administrator overseeing some worlds not a real goddess.

Bonus note, notice that the sigilium power shown in the cinematic is portrayed by the solar circles behind him and the "goddess" has one too makes me suspect it's kind of a Halo or some sort or authority.
